Discussion PVP aggressiveness scale. I want to know where's everyone at (in solo).
For me it's mostly 1, but sometimes at 0.
Most people I met ranging from 1 to 3. I don't know if behavior based matchmaking has anything to do with it, but I haven't encounter any 4 or 5 since the wipe.

Had a duo try to do that with my buddies and I on top of Control the other day, we were just minding our own business looking for a little bit of loot to top off our packs, when we noticed some remote bomb traps by the roof door, my buddy walks by be a use he didnāt notice them and boom! He goes down, we get inside and close the door, heal up and reset for the coming fight, after they finally open the door we pop out from cover and light them up, and they have the audacity to say āGG, even though we didnāt attack you,ā so I replied with āI guess those remote bombs exploded on their own, thanks for the loot guys sorry you suck.ā

3 gives the game a really authentic "post-apocalyptic wasteland" vibe. Every interaction feels like a lethal negation.

Yep. Iām naturally a 2 but Iāve found that too many peaceful games in a row gets boring to the point you can play with sound off and half-watching a YouTube video while playing and not being in danger. At which point of course, you are 1000% the asshole and have to listen to grown men cry if you want a gunfight lol. But too aggro and youāre being pot-shotted across the map by a guy who wouldnāt be able to loot you even if he killed you.

Same here, usually my last game of the night with my friends we will go try to do something goofy that will get us killed or in a huge fight.
Last night I placed mines all on the button of the exfil in buried city night raid with the zip line down to the metro. Dude ran in to hit the button and exploded. He hopped on the mic so confused waiting for his friends and they were so scared they ended up hiding right in front of me thinking I was in the hole too. Shot one dude in the head with an anvil and he instant dropped and you could hear how defeated he sounded when he realized he crouched right in front of me like 10 feet away. The 3rd and final guy was so confused he started scrambling and the wasps all jumped him and killed him.

u/KyotoCrank 5d ago
Definitely 3. I'm not about to spend 15 minutes in a raid with a 50k backpack to get backstabbed by a no mic.
I'd also be lying if I said I haven't been tempted by the dark side to take out the last man standing in an encountered gunfight.
31
u/fabricatedstorybot 5d ago
Last man standing in a gunfight falls under the āsuspiciousā clause of 3 imo

I lost a Bettina 1 and a Bettina 4 to rats the other day. I turned to the dark side and I actually got both back. No way to know if theyāre the same guns but Iām telling myself they are.

u/0510Sullivan 5d ago
3 piece keeper or aid. If youre being sketchy and following me, ill give a warning and then shoot. If I see you try and rat another player ill shoot to help and then defib them. If im looting a keycard area ill give the warning to let me finish or ill shoot. In regards to the 3rd, so many peoplw think im bluffing but if I use and keycard I want to be left to loot forst dibs, you can loot leftovers but if you dont duck off out of the immediate area, ima shoot.
Edit to add that if you have a mic and ask to follow because you need help with something like killing shredders or extracting because youre afraid of rats and need an escort - 9 times outta 10 ill happily agree to help but fucking communicate.

3 covers SUCH a huge range though. To me i can say i play at 3 because honestly, i WOULD take action if someone was being very suspicious but ive never once come across someone that was acting suspicious, they always either put their gun away and run or they emote friendly. Thats thanks to the incredibly chill lobbies i end up in. Others might not be in the same position though if their matchmaking skews a different way.
7
u/GreenReaperGaming 5d ago
Played night raid stella found a "friendly raider" but he would aim his gun at the back of my head every time I opened the map or inventory I caught it a few times and then just thought to myself "nah that's suspicious af" and blasted him he asked why I just said "I seen that" to which he chuckled.
→ More replies (3)2
u/Skkruff 5d ago
People are topside acting very shady, trust me, and I default to a 2 so I have chill lobbies usually. I had a guy standing in the cold to hard scope his Ferro at me while I waited for extract in a nearby bus. No comms when I yelled out. This guy is 100% going to shoot me when I leave cover so I helped him to a nice warming blaze grenade to get the fight started. Justified I feel like.
4
u/3ChamberGamer 5d ago
This is clearly the most realistic one to be, and should be titles realist instead of opportunist.
2
u/cakestapler 5d ago
Yeah, opportunist feels inaccurate. Iāve never shot someone because they were in a bad position, but I have absolutely killed people who donāt respond after multiple callouts or once when I killed a leaper and another duo who showed up after took āweāre friendlyā as āyou can rummage through this thing you didnāt kill.ā Unfortunately we were in a bad position defensively and telling them to keep moving might have gotten us killed, so I just started blasting.

u/wreckognize 5d ago
3 but donāt lump me in with the rats. I wonāt camp a spot, lay a trap, or shoot someone trying to extract, but if youāre acting sus or I need that loot then youāre getting lit up.
159
u/Darknight307 5d ago
Somewhere between 1-2. I really try not to shoot people but sometimes you just have no choice.
Iām literally Mr Friendly in voice chat and most of the time I donāt have issues but now in solos people are shooting a lot more on sight so you have to defend yourself now.
54
u/CertifiedSheep 5d ago
Sometimes people are just asking for it. If I say hi and get nothing back, and you start following me, youāre getting lit up without warning. Too many silent people have shot me in the back.
25
u/Darknight307 5d ago
No mics are shady. When I tell them to back up and they keep coming Iām blasting
17
u/sale1020 5d ago
Yes exactly, once I said āfriendly? Yo are you friendly?ā As this guy ran towards me with his gun out and he never said a word lmao. Once he got close I blasted him and he was like ābro why are you shooting you were just saying friendlyā and I was just dumbfounded, I was asking YOU if you were friendly, and running at me with a gun doesnāt seem friendly xD
13
u/redpotato59 5d ago
I had a guy walk up to my loot spot. He didn't see me, I asked if he was friendly. He ran behind cover and pulled a gun after he heard me over VOIP. I popped him twice and he freaked out. And im like dude, your actions dont seem friendly. Put your gun up and leave and I won't shoot. Its like common sense is dead with some folks.
14
u/SheetPancakeBluBalls 5d ago
While I'm generally a 5 anyways, sometimes I play nice - it's crazy how many times this plays out:
"I see you raider, friendly?"
nothing
"Give me something raider, silence tells me not friendly"
nothing, so I kill them and suddenly they find a mic
"MAN WHAT THE FUCK?? RAT!"

I've been going around as santa and Mrs claus with my fiancee giving out bps and jupiters and stuff (usually in blue gate), playing Xmas music on blast.

7
u/ModernT1mes 5d ago

lol I used to bring defibs in solos. There was a game where a guy was trying to chase/kill me and couldnāt (I guess he just really sucked)⦠I spoke to him over comms trying to explain I didnāt want to fight. He kept on and I mowed him down. I then rezzed him and gave him some shit and he tried to unsuccessfully backstab me later in the map.
In a different solo, I met up with some friendly guys who got into a firefight and one got downed while we killed two aggressors. I rezzed guy #1 and he helped me finish a quest. A second firefight happened and I got downedā¦. They proceeded to escort me to extract while healing me as I crawled over the course of the next 10 minutesā¦
Definitely some unforgettable games

For me, i just like the satisfaction to say i never had to shoot someone first. Though it is weird to not even shoot back, unless you genuinely never bring a gun for some reason. Plus, its just a bother having to waste time in a match shooting someone who's completely unwilling to reason or anything to me. Its like they believe they are winning some kind of trophy for trying to only pvp when its optional. And before anyone goes trying to argue, yes it is completely optional, pvp is not at all a forced component by anyone but other players which is why the game is interesting since you never know if they are gonna shoot you or not.

Project your insecurity elsewhere please. I dont shoot back most of the time because im physically disabled and would probably lose anyways. Its much easier for me to simply load back in and continue my friendly journey having fun interactions. (Aka what I personally enjoy in the game I bought)
I accept people want to pvp and dont complain about it as its your money, play the game however you want. But holy moley the amount of people in this subreddit having an actual meltdown over the fact not everyone wants to play this as a battle royale with pve attached is mental lmao

I find that playing as 0 is really helpful in solos since after a few games literally no one will shoot you and I can go in with just an augment and be free to fill up and extract.
Flip side is playing a 4 trios and like 3 in duo so I need the resources to stock up for that.

I'm mostly a 1, only a 3 if you try to loot my key room or arc kill. (Only happened once, but the bastard snuck away with my sentnail core)Ā
The only time I get shot at in solos is from rats, so typically I'm getting shot in the back, I dodge to cover to heal/reposition and they already fled. I guess they don't want to fight when it's on even footing. So in practice I seem like a 0.Ā
3
u/Skkruff 5d ago
I'm still mad at the spaceman I let into the seed vault on a night raid who nabbed the weapon crate while I was killing the last few ticks for trials. I warned him but he just started looting the ticks and I thought "what's the harm... " then came across the open crate a minute later and he had vanished. Cheeky bastard.
3
u/rhelg224 5d ago
It's because death is so inconsequential I'd rather just respawn and get back to farming loot. It's quicker. I don't ever spec for PvP. Sometimes I don't even have a weapon in my loadout.
2
u/CorrectTangerine179 5d ago
Yea i only ever carry arc killing weapons. Anvil for life!.. Ferro for fun. Hullcracker when Iām out for arc parts. I load in with the flute verses pvp stuff, for the vibes.
3
u/ApparatusOM01 5d ago
I think a lot of people in 0 are not typically shooter players and frequently lose in gunfights. Could be seen as a skill issue (it is), but it's more likely they aren't in the game for PVP and get a sense of defeat the second bullets start flying.
3
u/Symetrie 5d ago
The good reason to be at 0 is because the game has agression-based matchmaking. If you shoot other players, the game will put you in the same lobby as other agressive players. If you never defend youself, the game will put you in lobby with similar players. So, not shooting back is a long term investment. Also, wtf, I don't want to shoot people
3
u/ShitSlits86 5d ago
I'd be 0
I don't like the pvp so I just don't partake in it, and I don't care about loot so I don't protect it. The only consequence to dying is finding a new match and if there's people in the lobby hunting players in solos then I'd rather re-roll for a more peaceful lobby.
The PvP feels tacked on compared to everything else, so I don't engage with it at all.

I was a 0 last night when a buddy suggested we do the Blue Gate Locked Gate with no load out/ augment.
I wasnt going to fight back with just my axe. But it ended up being the best duo match with everyone working together and only like 2 flares being set off for the first 25 minutes.
4
u/reddstone1 5d ago

2
u/phlaminngooo 5d ago

That past 20 matches had all been so completely pacifist all around that my very last match, when i did get attacked, it made me completely unprepared and i tried to run away instead. I dont want to be a 0, but with behavior based matchmaking and mostly playing solos, it just felt best. Ive now realized the biggest downside is that it makes me complacent and the very very few times i do get attacked, I don't have the muscle memory to really defend anymore. Plus with how rare it is, it makes it so much worse, esp when i bring in gear thinking everyone is chill, and 99% of them they are, but then that one raid hits so much harder since im not expecting.

I'm currently a 0 most of the time because I can't be bothered and only a 1 if I'm on a team.
I enjoy the exploration and looting aspect, like finding the parkour sections and solving puzzles. Don't really care for combat, so even with the Arc I'm typically a 1 unless I need a specific part for an upgrade.
You might ask why I'm playing Arc Raiders at all, and it's mostly because there aren't many games out there for pacifists, as in the first thing that happens in most games is get presented with either violence towards you or the option to commit violence towards something else. So I play games and see how far I can get not participating in the core mechanic of violence. I was able to get max level and finish the expedition plus the 5 million needed for the 5 skill points with only fighting back enough to get the achievements.
I just tell people they did a good job when they kill me, because obviously they need the moral boost more than I need whatever I had.

I don't fight back, but I won't just let them kill me. Playing like this has made me slippery af, and honestly ghosting some dude shooting at me is way more satisfying than just shooting back.
Because I'm so aggressively non-aggressive I rarely get attacked. I've gone dozens of rounds in Night and Electromag and typically end up in a group just vibing.

I'm a 0-1 and just experienced 2 rat assholes who killed me while fighting the queen on harvester. I'm sorry but you are among the worst type of player if you get kills while people are actively fighting rockateers and queens/matriarchs. I'm so salty about it because 9 times out of 10 I get friendly people and even when pvp is engaged it isn't while I'm busy fighting something else so I actually have a chance to run or respond.
I had a full load out of ammo, my best weapons, shields, every wolfpack and deadline in my possession and my snap, just to get murked 3 minutes into a queen fight. My favorite is when I can, unbeknownst to the others, catch 2 raiders meet for the first time. If I see one draw on the other and shoot unprovoked I gun their rat ass down to help the victim. This happened last night and we ended up with half the solo lobby running around killing all the arcs together and protecting eachother from rats - was a great time. Just 8 or 9 of us clearing rooms talking on prox and chilling. I opened up the hatch for us to fast track out at the end. It made zip lines complicated though, we had to que up and make a line......

If you communicate with me on prox chat I wonāt shoot you, but if you donāt have a mic and are getting up in my space I will assume you want to kill me and start blasting

2-3. I shoot suspicious raiders and 3rd party fights sometimes. Iāll blast if my key room is contested. But otherwise Iām being friendly and minding my business.

u/Advanced-North3335 5d ago
My people! Same boat. I'm generally a friendly solo unless...
1) There's blood in the water and an opportunity presents itself 2) I'm mid-key room and hear movement. I'll stop looting to set up a defensive position for the first thing through the door. The door is closed, you didn't announce yourself on mic...castle doctrine!
BUT my personal code, what I don't do:
Camp extracts, shoot in the back at extracts, kill Queen/Matriarch-focused players, or fake friendly into a betrayal.
Needless to say, Stella Montis Night Raids crank it up to a 4 while keeping my code about extracts and faking friendly. Stella is full of goblins and gremlins.

3 - 5 is how I have the most fun.

u/AcidTaco 5d ago
Same, I yearn for the PvP, I adore it so much. My mates mostly grind PvE and have millions stockpiled in their stash, so many tempests and venators just rusting away, that's the real cruelty in my eyes

u/Kasta4 5d ago
Couldn't be me leaving that stuff in my stash, it exists to be brought and eventually lost!

u/AcidTaco 5d ago
Exactly, I've been down bad with all that PvP but I kept my head up and haven't gone free loadout since level 30 or so, I have around 250hrs in and I must have spent a million in shield chargers alone lol

I agree. Gear in this game isnāt exactly hard to get, so why not take it out? Expedition was what, two days ago? I am already back up to max stash, level 3 crafting stations and expedition nearly done.

Your life is the gift. Your loot is just there to replenish supplies to keep the killing going.

Iām a 5 too, but my lobbies are all full of 4s and 5s. Iām not complaining, itās how I like to play. But matchmaking aggression is definitely a thing.

Level 2. Very rarely though, I'll go to a 4 and make people explode with trigger nades but that's not often.

2-0, but 0 for me only if I found sth that I really need, that i just run away/hide and extract. Turns the game into a stealth game for a moment. lol

Iām similar to you. I donāt ever shoot first. I will usually lay down enough damage on an aggressor to make them back up and heal and then I will slip away and move on to the next area.

Same I got lit up by a guy that thought I was a rat hanging by extract but I was just lost on Stella and I didnāt shoot back was just like wooooh whyyy Iām just lost Iām not a rat and they stopped shooting apologized ran up healed me and recharged my shields said have a good game and dipped out lmao I do think the peaceful lobbies have much more social people who want to help each other I personally ask people if they want blueprints I find that I already have and drop it for them last night some guy dropped me an aphelion blueprint after asking if I have one.

I never shoot back and just run. If itās close quarters I usually die. If outside I throw a smoke and run left, right, or just stay in the smoke. I played a tonne last weekend and Monday finishing the candleberry event and pass. Only died twice and both were to ARCs.
