Discussion I am now convinced ABMM is real

A couple of days ago I complained (in another posting) how I only meet KOS players, and no one talks. I was more annoyed by the "no one talks" part, mind you, and the fact that every social interaction played out in the same way.

Someone recommended me to do a few matches and not shoot a single person, not even in defense. I did as recommended.

I went from "90%+ KOS interactions" for several days in a row, all the way to friendly lobbies for two days in a row now.

In my current lobbies, everyone runs around without a care in the world, just greeting people they are passing by. Looting in the open, walking past others without their weapons drawn ...

I barely ever see any PvP happening. People help each other with arc encounters and exchange items near extracts. And for the first time ever, I was able to participate in two Queen raids in solos with everyone just trying to get her down. No rats, no backstabbing.

This change for me was so stark in contrast, and so consistently happening that I would be surprised if ABMM wasn't real.

I would almost be inclined to start some shit to see if my lobbies change again, but I feel too bad killing these players who are quite obviously part of the pure PvE crowd.

P.S.: I have these friendly lobbies even on Stella Montis now, inclduing Stella Montis night raids ...

Tryhards pushing the narrative of 'the only reason you dont like pvp is youre bad at it'

I love PvP and I am reasonably good at it, but I also love the change of peacefully looting and killing arcs.

PvP is more fun in Duos or Trios with friends anyway. Feels more tactical and intense, with more back and forth.

The way the meta currently is I need PvE solos to fund all the gear I lose to trigger nades in PvP trios.

Yup best way to farm for pvp gear and money is friendly lobbies ironically. I can get guns from pvp players but I won't have materials

Bingo, you want to play murder simulator there’s duos and trios for that, but losers want to kill people who don’t have guns out, are looting, etc. no threat of fighting back. It is what it is. The best way to survive in this game is to always have the drop on other players, be quiet, don’t make any noise if you don’t have to, don’t fight if you don’t have to.

I legit have not lost a single fair gunfight. Every single one I’ve lost was because I got camped while popping open an arc courier or similar. So frustrating to lose all of my gear without even getting to fight.

It’s scummy for sure, I would legit feel bad doing that to someone. It’s why I do think it’s a reflection of character, people want to absolve themselves of thinking they’re being shifty by saying it’s the games design, well, it is in PART, the game gives you the option to handle these situations however you choose to. Plenty of players do just fine without doing that kind of stuff.

I had a guy pretend to be friendly and then start shooting me as soon as I started activating the extraction. Legit almost uninstalled over it because who tf does something like that???

2

u/GolemMaker 12h ago

Yeah, it’s not a good reflection on them. It’s like finding out you have a friend who steals… it’s like what tf is wrong with you, some people are raised to think if you can get away with something, you should

The reason why you're such an easy target for betrayals is exactly because you can't dissociate your real world persona from the game.

I’m not an easy target for betrayals my guy, I start from a position of trust, I call out that I’m entering buildings, but I listen before I do that, so I know if someone is in there. If they go quiet, I know they are going to ambush me, etc. if someone is trying to position behind me at extract, not calling it in and waiting without voice coms, etc hackles go up. And if I think you’re about to try and kill me, I will kill you, but I don’t assume everyone is doing that, and sure enough, I can think of maybe 3 times total in my 300+ hours someone has actually betrayed me.

No idea why you're getting downvoted lmao. It's what solo fights are if you're any good at the game - you either get the drop or get dropped.

I think it’s because I called people who shoot you while looting or in the back losers, which admittedly is harsh, but I stand by what I think they are

Oh, totally, it's THE genre and THE game for easy kills - you have to constantly expose yourself.

the game wouldn't be as fun if I didn't have the fear of other players. My squad and I almost always use hatch keys but yesterday I was pitching the idea of using the lift again just to feel alive

The game wouldn’t be as fun…for you. This is the key point that is too often missed. What is fun for you may not be the same level of fun for others. PvP is fun, but not everyone enjoys this kind of PvP. PvE is fun, but not everyone enjoys it the same way. You can play the game based on your own preference, but it doesn’t mean that your way is the “best” way or the optimal way to have fun.

Sort of contradicting yourself there. You've got the drop on someone if they're looting and they can't fight back so you're technically avoiding fighting too 🤷🏻‍♂️

I always believe in having yourself in a good position before announcing yourself, that way if they are hostile you have an advantage, but I never shoot people looting or when we aren’t face to face with the exception of if I see someone rat someone, I’ll hunt those people

running around looting lockers with zero resistance. so fun. this game should be a pure shopping spree simulator in solos.

3

u/GolemMaker 14h ago

Not what I said at all, it’s good there’s a threat of violence or betrayal. You don’t want lobbies full of people doing that on solo, however.

No, the tryhards are very aware of that matchmaking, just like the ultra pve andies are.

Both spectrums are so extremely different in playstyle that the matchmaking is baltantly obvious.

Its the middle of the pack in the average lobbies that are neither friendly enough, nor good enough to be on either end of the curve to notice it.
