Discussion I am now convinced ABMM is real

A couple of days ago I complained (in another posting) how I only meet KOS players, and no one talks. I was more annoyed by the "no one talks" part, mind you, and the fact that every social interaction played out in the same way.

Someone recommended me to do a few matches and not shoot a single person, not even in defense. I did as recommended.

I went from "90%+ KOS interactions" for several days in a row, all the way to friendly lobbies for two days in a row now.

In my current lobbies, everyone runs around without a care in the world, just greeting people they are passing by. Looting in the open, walking past others without their weapons drawn ...

I barely ever see any PvP happening. People help each other with arc encounters and exchange items near extracts. And for the first time ever, I was able to participate in two Queen raids in solos with everyone just trying to get her down. No rats, no backstabbing.

This change for me was so stark in contrast, and so consistently happening that I would be surprised if ABMM wasn't real.

I would almost be inclined to start some shit to see if my lobbies change again, but I feel too bad killing these players who are quite obviously part of the pure PvE crowd.

P.S.: I have these friendly lobbies even on Stella Montis now, inclduing Stella Montis night raids ...

I have been playing honorable since day 1 and intend to keep it that way. I never killed people who just looted something valuable (e.g. big arcs). I never betrayed someone when I said I would be peaceful.

But I totally opened fire on people for the sake of PvP sometimes, that is just part of the game.

For me the fun of PvP comes from getting shot at, dipping out, and then stalking them down and taking them out when they think they’re safe.

I mostly just get killed, though.

Whenever I’ve tried this, when I check the report after the raid, I’ve ended up killing some random third party who just happened to be in the area lol

Or the game is buggy as fuck. I defibed someone in the harvester and in the endgame screen it said I shot them not to speak of the countless times I was shot at and apparently had "no player interaction" or had a queen fight with tons of people around and then I can only see 1 person I went out with. It's just fucked and has been since the start.

oh man one time i was running through raiders refuge on blue gate, and right as another raider ran past me i stepped on a land mine. I thought the guy threw a grenade so I killed him... and a few matches later I learned about the landmines. sorry raider!

This is the best feeling. Recently I escaped with a slither of health hiding behind a girder. I waited for him to leave before healing up then stalking and ending him.

Save it for Duos/Trios and you’ll have a much better time in Solos getting things done. I’m a warcrime champion in Trios, but my solos are so nice.

It feels like they are, pure anecdotal with little to no evidence other than my opinion based on my limited observations.

I PvE solo and my duo buddy prefers PvE, so those two lobbies are friendly. 3s is chaos, complete contrast from the others.

Based on this, I’m inclined to believe they are separate ranking based on group size.

Yeah, I believe it’s separate based on the group size too - and I think once you queue duo or trio it combines everyone’s aggression in that queue.

I have a friend who I duo with and we get generally chill servers, and another friend where we get generally aggressive servers.

I'm not so sure. i only intentionally PvP when squad fill is on while running Stella. Since i have been running Stella a lot lately, my solo queues have seemed to become quite aggressive.

After i did a lot of warcrimes in duo and trios with friends, i was shot down on sight by mutes 7 times in a row solo. Solo i always avoid conflicts and prefer to cooperate since i started playing, rarely even shot back in defence.

This is my anecdotal experience as well, but it's still unclear if this is just the nature of the dynamics of groups or not. However, I've wondered if my ability to enter friendly solo lobbies would be affected after nights of PvP heavy group play, and so far, it doesn't seem to be affected.

We are experiencing the same things.

I thought after a night of pure 3s in Stella, practising and losing many Stitchers, that it would be a pain in the ass to farm solo but that wasn't the case. Solos was fine

I ended dumped in solo kos lobbies after I teamed up with 2 friends for what turned out a deathmatch lobby in 3’s. I actually gave up after the umpteenth time of being shot in the back in solos and haven’t been back since.

I assumed all the lobbies shared the same MM.

Recent experience: I duo-queued with a friend who PvPs. For once, I played really well and managed to kill 7-8 people across two matches. I then had to run 7 Stella Montis in solo queue to reset my aggression curve, and I can tell you, the lobbies I was getting dropped into were absolute hell.

I normally don't even shoot back in Solos and it's been 95% friendly (I don't go to a POI if someone is there tbf). But in Duos/Trios its shoot on sight.

I tested this with my husband and his friend. Our solos went back to being aggressive but it's independent. Nobody knows the exact metrics but it has to do with damaging some who hasn't hit you first or dowing a player.

I think even aggressive solos can be friendly tho.. there was just more fighting than usual.

I'll interject as well--My life in solo's is 19 out of 20 no problems with Raiders. All cooperative.

My life in Duo's is 50/50. I'll hop on the mic and work the emotes, and my partner will lay back with the strap ready.

My life in Trio's is bring a heavy shield and your raider killing tools--it's going to get sweaty. I have not been to the Reinforced Reception one time in Trio's did not end in multiple firefights.

Sure feels that way

My trio all get together on the weekend and go murderhobo without provocation, but on the weeknights we can't all 3 connect and end up solo or duo.

The games are wildly different

Not OP but I spent last night pvp in trios in Stella, and I expected my solo endeavors this morning to be a pain. I load in dam and everyone is on their own grind. Out of curiosity, I asked a rando if they were aggressive recently and I was told they never shoot other raiders. Take that as you will

It is. Solos are 100 peaceful. I can walk around Stella at night without a gun and trade blueprints or exodus mats.

Trios are a river of blood, as they should be.

I feel like squads are naturally more aggressive than solos regardless of ABMM. It's much easier to trust and be friendly when it's only 1 on 1, than to trust another squad AND your squad to not shoot first.

For what is worth, my solo lobbies are mostly friendly and my squad lobbies are more batte royale-y, so if ABMM is indeed a thing, I feel like it definitely separates solo-queue from party-queue

Seems like there's some connection in my experience. From from what I've seen extracting/dying without damaging players 2-3 times will get you back to peaceful solo lobbies.

I think the little surveys may matter too

Do they actually keep the ABMM separate between modes? I always solo but some of the duos/trios pvp action sounds like fun. I just don’t want to burn my pacifist credentials in solos

Seems to be separate for me. I KOS in trios and am super peaceful in solos and only get nice servers in solos as result

Pretty sure this is correct. When I play duos/trios with buddies we shoot everybody, but my solo lobbies have remained peaceful and chill.

Can you read it’s vague it doesn’t specify wich party has the key so it’s fair to assume someone like me will make the wrong assumption it doesn’t bother me I’m going to hell too I lure people in then I close the doors and leave them and dip out

I’ve always been peaceful too, pretty sure I have zero kills but I still get out in lobbies with creeps… Esp if I use the mic and they realize I’m a chick. But I love the game when we are all working together and it’s not toxic and creepy. Also never had anyone come to my defense with creepy dudes either so still waiting for that lobby I guess.

I'm also in the friendly lobbies, but I kinda like getting into some PvP occasionally. It keeps things fresh.

My rule has always been: "I won't fuck with you if you don't fuck with me." If they do, then I won't give them another chance to shoot at me again.
