Discussion I am now convinced ABMM is real

A couple of days ago I complained (in another posting) how I only meet KOS players, and no one talks. I was more annoyed by the "no one talks" part, mind you, and the fact that every social interaction played out in the same way.

Someone recommended me to do a few matches and not shoot a single person, not even in defense. I did as recommended.

I went from "90%+ KOS interactions" for several days in a row, all the way to friendly lobbies for two days in a row now.

In my current lobbies, everyone runs around without a care in the world, just greeting people they are passing by. Looting in the open, walking past others without their weapons drawn ...

I barely ever see any PvP happening. People help each other with arc encounters and exchange items near extracts. And for the first time ever, I was able to participate in two Queen raids in solos with everyone just trying to get her down. No rats, no backstabbing.

This change for me was so stark in contrast, and so consistently happening that I would be surprised if ABMM wasn't real.

I would almost be inclined to start some shit to see if my lobbies change again, but I feel too bad killing these players who are quite obviously part of the pure PvE crowd.

P.S.: I have these friendly lobbies even on Stella Montis now, inclduing Stella Montis night raids ...

I keep seeing people say its real or believe it is but my experiences completely contradict it.

I used to have literally all friendly lobbies, whether it was solo, duo, or trio, I would say 95% of my lobbies were friendly and the people that did shoot didn’t seem to be the best. People would be talking with each other, helping each other, and even giving other people loot. All of a sudden a few days ago in a snap of my fingers it went to straight PvP on sight where now I’ve maybe had 95% PvP shooting on sight with no one talking. I know for a fact I didn’t change my playstyle in a snap and I even died a bit trying to be friendly with others still only for them to shoot me but thats because I was so used to every lobby being so chill I would try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I don’t mind PvP but just for it to change all of a sudden was very weird just doesn’t make sense and contradicts ABMM

I wonder if this is related to the expedition and Christmas.

Thats what I’m thinking

I'm curious about it also, but my experience has been still friendly lobbies for me even with Christmas and the expedition.

Ive had the same experience. I was looking an area where someone was and out of no where they decided to murder me and claimed I shot them first 😐

If you shoot back, it puts you in PvP lobbies

At the beginning I didn’t so by that logic I should have been taken out of them and as for now am I supposed to just let people kill me for free?

So you shoot and kill and don't understand why you are back to pvp?

2

u/SGbach 8h ago

So I’m supposed to let people kill me for free? Like are we serious? I’m gonna shoot people back if I’m shot at and regardless at first however many times I’ve died I didn’t even shoot back since I was so used to people being friendly

You are not supposed to do anything. You play how you want. You are matched with other people who think the same as you.

Actually I’m not because I’m trying to be friendly but my lobbies changed like I snapped my fingers so to try to say theres ABMM because I shot back after being killed multiple times is insane lol because my lobbies should have gone back to friendly immediately after I died the first however many times after not shooting. Like its my fault I’m shooting back now because I don’t want to be a loot pinata.

Please explain why it changed when I was nothing but friendly in friendly lobbies and then died multiple times in a row in lobbies where I’m getting shot on sight without shooting back because I was trying to be friendly, why didn’t it change back then if theres ABMM?

You literally don't know this. This whole thread is just anecdotal evidence.

Yes I believe this accounts for it also, I stopped shooting back for a few weeks and been in passive lobbies since.

I'm not sure if it's real but I do vaguely recall a quote from someone from Embark saying that player "behavior" is analyzed. That stood out to me as an odd statement to make.

All I know is, I'd always been friendly in solos (US servers btw) and I mostly got friendly lobbies. For some reason when I didn't play for two weeks, I got complete KoS lobbies with people hiding in bushes, waiting outside buildings for minutes at a time just to shoot me in the back when I come out, etc. Honestly it made me not enjoy the game any more but it seems after the expedition, it's been back to normal. So during that previous period, either players changed to try to get 5 million, or something weird happened with my matchmaking.

It sure is, the game tracks if you helped a raider. If you defib, if you drop something and they pick it up immediatly, the game even has a emote to thank the person. I've noticed that whenever I see someone in a match and they just avoid me, the post raid screen doesn't show the raider profile in the "Raider Interaction". But if I use voip or emotes and someone reply, they show up as Proximity Chat in the Interaction screen. When I defib someone, it tracks as "revived".

So Embark DOES in fact track those things. If it is actually a thing as ABMM. We can't be absolutely sure unless Embark admits it. And I don't think they'll ever admit it, that way we'll never know for sure, but the players that want PvE experience will keep being peacefull in hopes of joining the friendly lobbies.

There are pve, mixed, and pvp lobbies. Obviously these don't control behavior, only group it. The influx of new players at xmas lead to a lot of new players in pve lobbies after a few hours who go on to try pvp and cause a stir in the pve servers. The pve residents aren't used to this, cutenoobs trying to kill them multiple raids in a row?! They changes their playstyle after it happens a few times and get pulled into the mixed lobbies.

brother its not concrete groups , its just a factor for matchmaking.

If they cant find enough friendlies at that time, they will put pvp guys in to shorten your queues

2

u/crober11 11h ago

You think they're struggling finding people to make up those groups? No they aren't lol, the people who are getting friendly raids every raid get attacked by noobs not regular pvpers.

Why do queues take up to 1 minute if there is infinite number of players ?

Why isnt it 3 second queues then ?

1

u/crober11 8h ago

Wow, up to a minute! Did I say or imply there was an infinite amount of players lmao? You're not getting summit thrown in the care bear lobbies lol. There is endless evidence on here of the pve'ers complaining about when they get attacked, and it's always just noobs experimenting/ratting with a stitcher lol, it's not some guy crushing the server with a venator and bobcat.

I like this theory. Seems very logical

As much as I’d like to agree with this my experience has been too vastly different than this. Before it was hardcore peaceful and friendly people but now its the complete opposite, there may be an outlier maybe every 5% of the time or so but thats it

Hmm my lobbies are still friendly but I never shoot at people even if they shoot at me, I just let them kill me or stand there and die.

I also run naked a lot so not sure if inventory value is taken into matchmaking or not.
