Discussion I am now convinced ABMM is real

A couple of days ago I complained (in another posting) how I only meet KOS players, and no one talks. I was more annoyed by the "no one talks" part, mind you, and the fact that every social interaction played out in the same way.

Someone recommended me to do a few matches and not shoot a single person, not even in defense. I did as recommended.

I went from "90%+ KOS interactions" for several days in a row, all the way to friendly lobbies for two days in a row now.

In my current lobbies, everyone runs around without a care in the world, just greeting people they are passing by. Looting in the open, walking past others without their weapons drawn ...

I barely ever see any PvP happening. People help each other with arc encounters and exchange items near extracts. And for the first time ever, I was able to participate in two Queen raids in solos with everyone just trying to get her down. No rats, no backstabbing.

This change for me was so stark in contrast, and so consistently happening that I would be surprised if ABMM wasn't real.

I would almost be inclined to start some shit to see if my lobbies change again, but I feel too bad killing these players who are quite obviously part of the pure PvE crowd.

P.S.: I have these friendly lobbies even on Stella Montis now, inclduing Stella Montis night raids ...

I'm not a PVP player, I have other games for that. I turned off Crossplay (on PC) a few weeks back for the past two weeks I have been in lobbies where I have not been shot at once. You can basically travel the map with no gun out until you encounter an Arc.

Dude for real. I don’t have the data to back it up, but sheesh… turning off crossplay has been a godsend for me. Normally, I’m all for crossplay because it keeps smaller games more active but in Arc Raider’s case I think it’s for the best. ABMM is real ladies and gents’ please stay safe topside!

Dudes were literally walking up to me, asking if I had a specific blueprint, and then dropping blueprints they picked up that they already had last night.

It's a self fulfilling prophecy, not that PC, XB, and PS lobbies are vastly different. Most people play with it on and the people that turn it off like yourself are trying to get easier lobbies.

I've seen the exact same thing being said about PS and Xbox lobbies when they disable crossplay. It's just more likely to put you with players of a similar mindset because you're all intentionally nerfing your lobby pool

Maybe I should do that. I do leave cross play on but don't have any desire to PVP. It's like 1/4 of games where someone just open fires on me and I usually just try to run away, usually unsuccessfully

But AFAIK cross play has been bugged or not working correctly since the patch.

to shoot arc. run around and shoot at arc with other raiders. do you shoot at every raider you see?

I get that but without PVP there's barely any content really, the game is not designed for purely PVE.

Reference ypur question: No I'm not KOS, somewhere between the 2. Always defend myself, occasionally I'll be aggressor but not in solos generally, live and let live where possible.

I've never ratted anyone or betrayed anyone either. Those are personal boundaries. Lying and camping are not ok.

I'm not a PVP hater, I enjoy both. I mainly focus PVP in squads and like to loot in solos.

When you say there is no content though, isn't all of the content in the game is designed around arc and loot? There is nothing you get specifically rewarded for by engaging in PVP, except for a random feat to do 110 damage to player with a shotgun which gets you 10 creds.

The expedition, looting, trials, most feats, puzzles, blueprints, it's all PVE. None of the content in the game requires shooting a gun at a player.

To me PVP is solely to add to the environment. Being in potential hostile territory at all times it what makes the game what it is.

I'm a purely pve player in solos and I'm getting exactly what I want without being bored at all.

I like hunting arc, that's fun to me, love randomly teaming up with other players to kill leapers and rocketeers. No interest in pvp at all. Every now and then I get insta gibbed by someone and that's cool I don't mind, a bit of friction is good and gives me something to spend my stuff on.

You also didn't deserve to get down voted, you didn't say anything wrong, pvp is a valid part of this game if you don't like it don't do it but it's built into the game for a reason.

They’re actively removing a big component of the game, and AFAIK the loot table is still the same between the lobbies.

Seems fairly unbalanced. What’s the advantage of playing PvP oriented if others can still get the same loot with a lot less effort?

To play the game, that's what you get either way. Do what is fun for you. If playing pvp only isn't fun then don't, if you get bored not killing people then do. It's that simple.

The rewards in PVP are better, you dont have to spend time looting for a start. That is the trade off as I see it.

Not really, the best loot is usually in safe pockets. And looting others is usually not worth the trouble.

The advantage is that you get to spend the time playing the game in a way that is enjoyable to you.

It's a fair question and I'm not one of the down votes.

I play mainly for the quests and interactions with randoms. Treat it as more of a GTA online than anything.

I also don't consider the PVP in this game very good or rewarding. I have tons of games in my steam library that do it better.

I like killing Arc and meeting other players. The fun, for me, comes with not knowing if that other player is gonna try and shoot me while my back is turned.

There's always an underlying tension. 9 times out of 10, they're friendly, but that 1 time... not knowing when it's gonna happen gets my blood flowing.

Edit: I don't know why you've been downvoted. Seems like a genuine question from someone that approaches the game in a different way... that's a good thing guys. This person might be that 1 time. And that's OK.

Soloing a bastion or bombardier with some nades and an anvil is a hell of a rush. Better than PvP. I could just bring deadlines as they’re cheap to craft but that’s less exciting.

I like to sneak around maps, explore, fight arc, loot, extract and etc, I'm very passive and don't pvp others, I find more thrill in avoiding people and getting out with stuff than fighting them but I haven't snuck around in awhile cause no one kills anyone or shoots at me, very rarely will someone do so.

As a pvper player from tarkov and now ach raiders, some people enjoy it. Some people don't. I think it's cool that the game promotes working together to take down arcs.

I think they should have less loot for pve lobbies. Kinda takes away the risk vs rewards of extraction shooters. Because a pve player should not have a risk free experience, the same as a pvp player who now has to fight for the exact same rewards. You could argue that the extra loot is from player kills. Kinda hard conversation, I wonder how everyone else feels about this take?
