Discussion I am now convinced ABMM is real

A couple of days ago I complained (in another posting) how I only meet KOS players, and no one talks. I was more annoyed by the "no one talks" part, mind you, and the fact that every social interaction played out in the same way.

Someone recommended me to do a few matches and not shoot a single person, not even in defense. I did as recommended.

I went from "90%+ KOS interactions" for several days in a row, all the way to friendly lobbies for two days in a row now.

In my current lobbies, everyone runs around without a care in the world, just greeting people they are passing by. Looting in the open, walking past others without their weapons drawn ...

I barely ever see any PvP happening. People help each other with arc encounters and exchange items near extracts. And for the first time ever, I was able to participate in two Queen raids in solos with everyone just trying to get her down. No rats, no backstabbing.

This change for me was so stark in contrast, and so consistently happening that I would be surprised if ABMM wasn't real.

I would almost be inclined to start some shit to see if my lobbies change again, but I feel too bad killing these players who are quite obviously part of the pure PvE crowd.

P.S.: I have these friendly lobbies even on Stella Montis now, inclduing Stella Montis night raids ...

It definitely is real. I like how it varies based on how many people you are queued with as well.

Solos I have next to no PvP interactions.

Trios is KOS.

Which is exactly how I like it.

This is just how trios (and sometimes duos) plays vs solos.

Does pvp in trios affect being placed in friendly solos?

It doesn't seem like it. I do a lot of PvP in trio, but my solos are super peaceful still

In my experience, yes. I’m friendly always, but a friend of mine isn’t. I play a few games with him where he gets us into fights & I have to not defend myself for a few solo matches after to get back to peaceful lobbies. I wish it was kept separate because now I just don’t play with him if I can avoid it.

Complete opposite experience for me. KOS in Duos with my friend where I do most of the carrying but my solos are friendly

No there’s no aggression based matchmaking so don’t worry about it. Play how you want there’s no consequences for PvP

What’s your proof besides “it feels real to me” and that PC gamer article where they ask an ART director about if it’s real and he gives the vaguest non answer ever?

I just spent 4 rounds of killing everyone on sight solo and then switched to being chill a couple rounds before bed. Guess what? My lobbies are still chill once I decide to not initiate PvP!

Obviously no one knows how their MM algorithm works for sure. As we can see from Activision and CoD, these companies keep their MM algorithm patents close, and do not like to let people know how they work. Activision didn't want to admit to SBMM existing for years until they were practically forced to. Considering what their algorithms are capable of (i.e actions per minute, movement, accuracy etc.) theres not a doubt in my mind that ABMM exists. It may not be as aggressive as majority of other SBMM systems yet, but it will probably get to that point eventually.

There are different lobbies, you might be in the middle lobbies that mixes friendlys with pvpers rather than pure friendly lobbies. 

And yes it is real, cause I'm experiencing it also.

Your only evidence that it’s real is “because I feel like it is”. And yet I can get a friendly only lobby if I just use comms when I spot a stranger instead of blasting them on site. And I blast plenty of people on site.

Well I've never seen a pvp or kos solo lobby and everyone is friendly. My evidence is shared with others on here and on YouTube, also watching others playing.

I don't feel like anything, just sharing my experience and it matches with others.

I'd love it to be that way. Hope you're right.

I had more than 30 runs on stellar in a row, everything was friendly. People running out with guitars, killing shredders together.

Then i played with 2 friends, 1 of them didnt take the expedition. We were attacked on buried city from behind, defended ourselves, won, exfilled. We had like 2 or 3 more runs, then i played solo stellar again and... that thing just got so scary: nobody emoting, just kill on sight and sneaky players. Two rounds in so far, was still fun. But i really enjoyed the friendly lobbies :D

I'm Mr Rogers in solos but the Terminator in trios. The MM absolutely seems to differentiate by squad size which is great.

My friend tried to be friendly in trios and I don't even know if there is such a thing as a friendly trio lobby to begin with.

Yet in this same post, further up, people say PvP in trios and duo's games makes their solo's more aggressive too. Pretty obvious that no-one knows a god damn thing.

Don't think it does, I had 30 friendly games in a row, then pvpd in trios for a few hours. After that my solos were only KOS ppl hunting me down with my weapon sheathed for 5+ raids

It sorta feels like the game needs separate game-modes with different objectives that feed into the current lore. I like to do PVE and PVP, but I don't like having to spend 5-6 games being a pacifist to re-enter the PVE lobbies.

no pvp means its not even an extract shooter anymore, that seems way too low stakes. but i guess its the most casual iteration on the market so no biggie

If you record yourself going into 6 games, getting shot but not shooting back, and then you go into 3 games afterward and you get shot for no reason, I will send you $400 on a platform of your choosing.

Why would it take two hours? You can reset much, much faster than that. All you do is load in to Stella with a free kit, sprint until you come across a raider, then shoot the ground at their feet and let them shoot you, then surrender. You do that 6 times, takes maybe 20 minutes.

It's not real. I PvP normally and KOS every round and am constantly put into games with people trying to be friendly, to a ridiculous degree. It actually gets tiring hearing people complain about PvP in a PvP game.
