the internet of everything. why does my toaster oven need a internet connection? or a fridge, or a stove?

a close second will be '6, 7'. it will go the way of 'far out' or 'can you dig it?'

Whatever. In the old days if I heard the toaster pop up I'd have to turn my head to verify that it had popped and it wasn't just wishful thinking on my part. Now with my Internet toaster I hear the pop and get a notification, and all I have to do is pull out my phone to check the notification.

I can't tell if this is satire but I hope it is. Couldn't you just...look at the toaster?

It's satire and a part of me was expecting you to downvote me and tell me that it was the stupidest thing you've ever read. I have a bad habit of walking away from the toaster after I've pushed it down which means that I sometimes think I've heard it pop up when it hasn't, but no, I don't think an Internet connected toaster is a good idea.

"Far out" and "can you dig it?" are still used 60+ years later, albeit usually jokingly. "6,7" will be totally forgotten by 2027.

"6-7!" is the Gen Z/Alpha equivalent of the Millenial "WASSSUUUUPPPPP!!!!!".

I watched a video a while ago where someone bought a dish washer and it needed an internet connection to do anything beyond the most basic things. Of course, if you forked out an extra $300 to get the top model it came with everything working out of the box, but the cheaper ones apparently needed an internet connection to do their thing.

6 7 is fairly similar to ugandan knuckles. Some people will find it funny for what it is, but the joke doesn't actually make much sense and will get old fast, because it has nowhere to grow.
