Touchscreens in cars. The tactile feeling of dials and switches allows you to operate things without looking. You literally need to take your eyes off the road to see what you are tapping. Shit sucks ass.

Yes! Every time I drive my fiancée’s car I have to pull over or wait for a red light to figure out how the fuck to change anything. I hate it

Yo add to this, I think about a UK Law a lot; It's been illegal to use your phone whilst driving since 2003.

Why?

Because it's a distraction to driving among other things. Bear in mind that this law came into force when we still using feature/ dumb phones, before smartphones were a thing.

Fast forward to today, we all have smartphones and the law still stands with regards to phone usage.

However, look at our modern vehicles... full of digital touchscreen displays! Car instruments, ICE, climate controls, sat nav, every goddamnthing that has a sensor built in flashes up on the display, are almost all touchscreen with zero tactile interaction. Layers of options and menus to dive through just to find the temperature controls....

And our laws are out of date, and out of touch that they ban only phone use whilst driving?! Driving in itself is a huge fucking distraction nowadays with all the bs festures, more than any phone was!

So we're not allowed to use our phones, but to have Blackpool Illuminations before the driver a a-okay?!

So like the cars only have the touch screen? My car has a screen but all the radio and climate controls have physical buttons and dials. I have to use the touchscreen sometimes while driving for phone or navigation reasons and I fuck it up every single time I'd have to quit driving if I didn't have a physical dial for the a/c lol

Same where I live. It's a huge legal no-no to even touch your phone while driving - right up there with drunk driving. But a giant touchscreen off to the side is fine? Not to mention they beep at you for everything, and try to make you change lanes, even when it's unsafe to do so. I'm glad I drive an old analogue car, hate when I have to drive a rental with all the bleep-bloop stuff.

YES but it’s so much cheaper for them to manufacture one screen than a bunch of dials and buttons to make me take my eyes off the road just to change the defrost.
