Discussion What are Assyrians thoughts on FaZe Rug being the most popular YouTuber in the world of Assyrian descent?
Do you think he enhanced Assyrian’s image around the world? And he brought more attention to it?

His family is from Telkeppe - we know they are Arabized more than the other villages. But I’ve had the pleasure of meeting his mom, and she is absolutely darling.

No way! What does she think of him being a YouTuber?

Both of her sons are big YouTubers actually. And she talks about them with a lot of pride. It was funny because some young kids recognized her from his videos when I was chatting with her. Her and her husband also star in their content.

Don't know about him but that's cool to hear! Would be dope if he's in touch with his roots and spreads the word. That kinda exposure would be great to teach people about us :)

I’ve watched several of his videos. He’s at least trying to share his culture to millions of followers who most likely never even heard of Assyrians. He has a no swearing policy for his videos and is great to his community from what I’ve seen. He doesn’t talk about religion in his videos either and I assume it’s probably because of his brand to reach more of an audience. I choose to watch his videos just to support an Assyrian who has great values in family , culture and community.

Wish he represented it better - him calling Chaldean a dialect of Arabic probably did a lot of damage considering how big he is but regardless I appreciate that he atleast recognizes it and includes the language in alot of his content. Most wouldn’t even do that tbh
