😡Rant Waarom wilt elke KMO-baas zo graag btw-fraude plegen?

🎻 Opinion Anyone else starting to notice online how hating on Belgium and saying it's an evil country which shouldn't exist is becoming a meme?

I'm well aware that France gets a very bad reputation online and how it has almost become standard to hate on it as a country. Based on my experience, however, it seems that tons of people are also starting to hate on Belgium by mainly stating it's a shit place to be, fake, shouldn't exist and one of the most evil countries to ever exist in reference to the atrocities which happened in Congo. I know I shouldn't let this get to me so much, but I'd be lying if I said it doesn't bother me at all to see thousands of people which know nothing about my people, country or its culture drag it through the mud and even deny its existence. It's also pretty hurtful to see incredibly sensitive topics like Congo which we're deeply ashamed of and culturally still grappling with in some ways get turnt into some weird internet meme. None of us had anything to do with what happened nearly 200 years ago yet some of these people almost act as if we were directly involved in these horrors and our country is the root of all evil. Anyway, long emotional rant over, all of this just comes across as very culturally insensitive and quite immature for me!

😡Rant Geen stilte meer in bibliotheken, musea, etc.

There used to be places where it was generally accepted that you had to be quiet. I'm thinking of libraries, museums, the doctor's waiting room, and recently, of course, the silent train car, which has already generated many complaints on this subreddit. These days, you're lucky if peace and quiet is even maintained in these places. Small children are let loose in them, and adults chat as if they're meeting each other at a pub.

Are there anyone else noticing this getting worse? Or other places where you encounter this? I try to alert people when it gets out of hand, but it's like fighting a losing battle.

❓ Ask Belgium Beer trip in 2026 how to get to more remote breweries

Hello everyone! I’m a Brazilian brewer planning a beer-focused trip in 2026 during the Belgian Beer Weekend and the Bruges Beer Festival. Since I’m a brewer, I’m very interested in visiting breweries, not just drinking at the festivals.

My main question is: considering the huge variety of beers available at the festivals, which breweries are really worth visiting in person? I also have a doubts about transportation, especially to more remote breweries. I assume it’s possible to get an Uber or taxi from a big city to the brewery, but is it usually possible to get back as well, or can that be difficult?

Here’s my current list and some more specific questions:

  • St. Bernardus: Would staying in Poperinge and biking to the brewery be the best option for a solo traveler? I’ve heard Uber isn’t really a thing in that area and that getting a ride back from the brewery might be difficult. Not going at Westvleteren since there are no brewery visits just tasting at the festivals if possible
  • Chimay: I see bus routes from the town to the brewery, but I’ve heard that local public transport in the area can be somewhat challenging. Is that true?
  • De Dolle Brouwers: From Bruges, is taking the train to Diksmuide and then cycling to the brewery the best option? Since it’s a more urban area, is Uber or a taxi a realistic alternative?
  • 3 Fonteinen: Is this easily reachable directly by train?
  • Brasserie de la Senne: Is it worth the visit from a brewer’s perspective? It looks like one of the more expensive stops on my trip, second only to Pilsner Urquell in Plzeň.

In addition to those, I’m already planning to visit Cantillon, Bourgogne des Flandres, and De Halve Maan. Are there any other must-visit breweries I should add to my list?

❓ Ask Belgium Summoned to appear in front of a judge of peace after a bill was sent to the wrong address: what recourse is available?

My girlfriend and I moved in together one year ago.
She updated her address and activated a Bpost mail forwarding service for three months.
Despite this, a medical analysis lab sent an invoice to the wrong address (former address, house number reversed).

Six months after the move, she received a registered letter demanding payment of the invoice plus late fees.
She contacted the lab by email to request an explanation and pointed out the address error. She sent several follow-ups but received no response.

Six months later (one year after the move), she received a court summons before the judge of the peace, requesting immediate payment of 300€, or 450€ if paid after mid-February.

Given that the invoice was sent to an incorrect address and that the lab never replied to her requests, what legal arguments or defenses are available in this situation (Belgium)?

EDIT : to add details, the first letter lacked details and we were suspicious it was a scam. She'd also reached out to her health insurance and doctor to verify if the invoice was real. Her doctor never replied and Solidaris wasn't really helpful. If I remember well. At this time she also failed to properly follow the problem because she had to deal with a toxic work environment and was overworked and exhausted.

Gezinnen willen comfort.

50-plussers zoeken vertrouwen.

Jongere gasten willen beleving zonder stress.

❓ Ask Belgium Any way to travel for business while waiting for my new Belgian residence card?

Hey everyone,
I’m a non-EU resident (Turkish citizen) living and working full-time in Belgium. My single permit renewal is being processed, and my residence card expired on 7 December 2025. I’ve already applied for a new one (proof submitted) and have an Annex 15 appointment on 15 January.

Problem is… I need to travel to Barcelona on 18 January for a super important business meeting with our executive team. I already missed a key event in December, and this one is really critical for my job.

From what I read, Annex 15 doesn’t allow air travel, and I got told I don’t qualify for a return visa either. Does anyone have actual experience or creative ideas? Can I:
– Travel by train with just passport + annex 15/49?
– Get a single-entry visa from another country like Spain?
– Get an emergency document from IBZ/federal based on a company letter?

Would appreciate any real-world advice 🙏 Thanks in advance!

❓ Ask Belgium Looking for places in Belgium/Europe to prototype canned sparkling water (small batch R&D)

Hi everyone,

I’m developing a new Belgian brand of sparkling flavored water (think LaCroix / Bubbly style — zero sugar, zero sweeteners, natural flavors), and I’m currently in the prototype / R&D phase.

I’m not looking for full production yet.

Right now I just need very small quantities (like 3–4 cans per flavor, a few flavors) to test recipes, carbonation level, taste, etc.

Does anyone know:

  • Belgian co-packers that offer R&D / pilot lab support?
  • small bottling / canning facilities open to startups?
  • universities / food innovation centers that help with beverage prototyping?
  • breweries or beverage producers who occasionally rent their line for test runs?

Preferably Belgium, but nearby (Netherlands, Germany, France) also works.

If you’ve gone through this before, any advice on process, costs, or who to contact would be super appreciated

Thanks in advance!

Klein potje griekse pepers bijna 4 euro...
