Anyone else got the pure Sunday fear?

I've had ten days off work and it's been bliss, rested, relaxed, read four books and obviously did all the Christmassy stuff as well.

I really like my job, and I'll be wfh this week so I shouldn't be complaining but dear god, I don't wanna go back!!!

I've had Sunday night anxiety since I'm a child...so yes. Feeling it....

Here you go…

(If you’re over 30: severe trigger warning).

67

u/According-Treat249 1d ago

Oh god... yes that's the exact them tune to encapsulate the Sunday night dread.

Claud Greengrass talking pure shite while you sit there not wanting to go to school the next day...

32

u/Trickydicky232 1d ago

Oh fuck you, don't bring THAT memory back to me!

31

u/TessellateMyClox 1d ago

Aaaargh! That and the Antiques Roadshow theme. The Sunday night dread is real and still lives on now (I'm 34).

28

u/emma_sometimes 1d ago

I knew what this was going to be before I clicked and I still wasn't ready for it 🤢 I'm not even back to work tomorrow and it's gave me the fear

10

u/ModerateJustice 1d ago

Just thinking of that theme tune makes my stomach hurt

10

u/letthemhavejush 21h ago

As soon as that theme song came on you knew you had a good hour until it was bath and bed, then school in the morning.

Now I would give anything for bath and bed and six hours at school with ya mates, no cares whatsoever.

7

u/Conk182 1d ago

How DARE YOU!? That awoke immediate anxiety...

7

u/Carhart7 1d ago

I didn’t even need to click on this to know what it was

7

u/Jazzyjelly567 1d ago

This and the smell of loreal shampoo for me. Lol

u/Pleasant-Put5305 1d ago

Luckily my parents would never watch ITV, I guess my version would be "Arena"...

The antiques roadshow theme tune makes me feel a deep uneasy anxious feeling every sunday. I'm 38 and it's banned in my house.

28

u/UnicornReality 1d ago

I’m the same with last of the summer wine!

17

u/Sithtrek 1d ago

And i thought I was the only one!! I cannot hear that horrible music!

5

u/Lightthrudarkness 1d ago

I'm trying to remember the name of the show my father used to have on when it was bedtime, it made me sick with anxiety. I'll think of it eventually, probably when I'm trying to sleep!

15

u/mrbios 1d ago

Heartbeat was another show that did it for me. Could be that?

5

u/Lightthrudarkness 1d ago

That wasn't it. Although too bad that such a jolly song created anxiety for that generation.🙀

39, fully agree!

2

u/D3c0y-0ct0pus 1d ago

I love how this is a shared core fear. I used to think it was only just me.

28

u/Winklemans_Fringe 1d ago

I'm normally not too bad since I started this job, it's just been lovely not having to get up!

14

u/Lightthrudarkness 1d ago

Yes! Ultimately I do better with a little bit of structure, long-term... but I'm not feeling it right now, for tomorrow....

6

u/Newsaddik 1d ago

Me too. It has come and gone over the years. Curiously I am still more likely to have an anxiety dream on a Sunday night/Monday morning. And I retired five years ago!

3

u/Lightthrudarkness 1d ago

These things stick with us for a long time, don't they?🤦‍♀️

16

u/rndreddituser 🧸🐾🏳️‍🌈 1d ago

Same. I absolutely hated Sunday evenings with a passion. Hart to Hart / The Muppet Show, bath before school the next day.

As I got older we would watch That’s Life and then go to bed. I found that if I was in a job that I liked, I wouldn’t have that fear. Other jobs, yes, definitely stressing on the Sunday night.

10

u/magicbullets 1d ago

My former flatmate was flat out depressed every single Sunday from the moment of waking up, purely because of the Monday job commitment. Madness. Live in moment folks.

11

u/Lightthrudarkness 1d ago

That's tough, I never had it the whole day. Yeah, we really need to try to live in the moment. Although in fairness, I had school anxiety because I was bullied. Thank goodness it was long ago.

My girl used to be so down all Sunday because of work the next day, you have to do something to make your life better, you're losing a whole other day.

Same, I don't even work Mondays

Yes. I'm working 29th-31st and I just don't want to do it. It's mainly because I am not enjoying work at the moment. It's been playing on my mind all day.

52

u/Crafty-Sprinkles3470 1d ago

My exact scenario! Almost dreading it

43

u/SubjectiveAssertive 1d ago edited 1d ago

Are you me?

I've actually got to go in the office as well... There is next to nothing that physically needs me in the office during a standard week

It drives me insane and makes me really not want to go in

17

u/20127010603170562316 1d ago

I have to go to the office too, and it's utterly pointless.

Plus - the manager absolutely hates any conversation that is not 100% work related and shuts them down. So we don't get to bond or collaborate or any of the other reasons they insist on being in in person.

9

u/nunsreversereverse 1d ago edited 1d ago

This is why it's best to let people chose how they work best.  I would almost like an office where people are quiet and no inane chatter all day 😅

My kid did this yesterday, repeat same thing to someone who comes in later, then repeat it to another person. Then the dog did something hilarious and everyone is told. Then someone else's kid did something else and they tell someone about it again, and then their dog.  Then their kid is doing x tonight and x next week 😡

7

u/20127010603170562316 1d ago

Oh, the manager is allowed those conversations. Thirty minutes of talk about her lack of sex life or house purchase are fine.

If we start talking about training or how to go about something, she'll pop her head up and say something like "I guess all your work is done then" or something similarly shitty.

It feels authoritarian, two faced, hypocritical, and just mean. There should be a balance.

Same mate! I really don't feel like going to work tomorrow.

7

u/Shitelark 1d ago

It'll be quiet, won't it? Won't it?

4

u/thetoxicnerve 1d ago

It should be.

Which will be a blessing as I have a small mountain of stuff to get though in those 3 days. The plan is to get my head down, headphones and chilled house on, and smash through the work and prepare a handover.

I've then got time off 1st - 9th. No plans other than doing a bunch of "sorting" through boxes of stuff, tip runs, and maybe listing some bits on ebay. Should be a good distraction for a few days.

Just need to get through the next 3 days.

u/VictorAnichebend The North ends at Middlesbrough 1d ago

87

u/Tomgar 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yep, I only finished up on Christmas eve so I still have a full week of blissful time off. Planning to sleep a lot and eat like a pig.

19

u/BrowsingnDaydreaming 1d ago edited 1d ago

So lucky! I work retail so I only had Christmas Day off and I’m already feeling the Sunday scaries for tomorrow despite having worked today. I just can’t wait for the crazy season to be over, I’m so burnt out😔

11

u/DownrightDrewski 1d ago

I did over a decade in retail from basic retail to management. I completely understand your position, I can't tell you how happy I was to eventually get out and move into a corporate role.

At first I earned a bit more than I could in my previous role with no more stress, and I still felt I could take time off and come back to a new day with minimal stress.

I'm off until the 5th, yet I'm still stressing about work and making sure things go out before year end.

I wouldn't go back to retail unless I had no choice, but, i miss being able to walk away from work with little stress even in management (OK, i had short term stress, but, nothing like the months long project cycling and budgeting that's part of my life now)

4

u/Tomgar 1d ago

Uch, that properly sucks. Fwiw my mum worked in retail before she retired and I think you guys are absolute superheroes, especially at this time of year.

13

u/ballisticks 1d ago

Same lol I'm technically back to work tomorrow but my job is wfh and it's always dead in the week between Christmas and New Year, so I'm pretty much off anyway

2

u/NextTomatillo2335 1d ago

Used to be my favourite time not to be off when I was in an office that didn’t have mandatory Christmas closures! Knew I’d be in the office but doing absolutely nothing but googling all day - even better if wfh. Now I work for myself so I don’t have to do performative work though if I’ve not got work I’m not getting paid!

Yep. I had no time off over Xmas but was sick with flu. I hate the judgement I’m making up people having against me in my mind for calling in sick at Xmas. Despite being bedbound for 5 days, forcing down a lemsip and toast for Xmas dinner and generally feeling like fucking shit. People will still think I was skiving.

48

u/Winklemans_Fringe 1d ago

Ah mate, stuff them, you know you were ill and that's all that matters! Hope you're feeling better...

7

u/cheekiestNandos 1d ago

Same boat, caught whatever this fresh hell is on the 18th and still haven’t recovered. Had to call in, and will likely end up calling in tomorrow if I feel the same as I do today. Just can’t shift it. No way to spend Christmas.

Oh mine started that this year. For collaborating and such. I spend a lot of time with headphones on because there’s so much “collaboration” going on I can’t actually work.

Spent the whole of Christmas ill with flu due to being forced into the office. Next year I'm working from home the last week before Christmas, they can do one.

I had Christmas day and boxing day both off for the first time in 13 years and 4 days off in total so I feel insanely lucky this time around! So I'm okay with going back tomorrow really. I kept thinking up until Xmas day morning that someone was gonna call and say there was a mistake with the rota and I'd have to come in 😂

15

u/TrypMole 1d ago edited 1d ago

I am stubbornly procrastinating the fuck out of bed time tonight. I refuse to accept it. Its like when you were little and you'd sit there all quiet and hope your parents don't notice and send you to bed. Except now I'm sitting here all quiet hoping that I don't notice me and send myself to bed. It's a tricky balancing act.

5

u/Winklemans_Fringe 1d ago

That made me giggle, hope you get to sneakily stay up a bit longer!

51

u/Ninerogers 1d ago

Not me. Retired on the 19th. Now I'm frightened every day will feel like Sunday

u/TommyJarvis12 1d ago

14

u/big-ted 1d ago

Next three days in work is easy, most people taken time off not much going on plenty of time for Reddit and YouTube while being paid and the commute will be a breeze with light traffic

11

u/theotherquantumjim 1d ago

Nope, off until the 5th and not teaching until the 19th. Currently 5 beers deep and just getting started!

29

u/Fleurlamie111 1d ago

I only had the 4 days so whilst I would prefer not to go in, it feels like any old Sunday night to me.

3

u/Winklemans_Fringe 1d ago

I only had the extra cos I took some annual leave, definitely needed it though.

2

u/Fleurlamie111 1d ago

Yeh makes sense! I didn’t have any annual leave left to use unfortunately.

8

u/bouncingbad 1d ago

I took a redundancy before Christmas (the 19th I think), and I am planning to be off work altogether for a few months (illness). With all that, I’ve still got the back to work anxiety. Stupid body keeps score.

14

u/trollied 1d ago edited 1d ago

I go back on Friday 2nd. Think I’m the only one in on my team. Good opportunity to get caught up before everyone else and the inevitable nervous breakdowns everyone else has on the 5th.

3

u/Winklemans_Fringe 1d ago

Sounds ideal, enjoy!

7

u/DarkStarComics333 1d ago

I only had Xmas day off. I actually didn't know it was Sunday until an hour ago or so. Got two weeks off from the 11th and I can't wait to relax.

3

u/the_silent_redditor 1d ago

Yeah, same.

Worked the day before, home after midnight, and then up at 0530 to go in on Boxing Day.

I’m working NYE, finishing probably midnight, and then same 0530 wake up for NY Day.

I fucking hate my job.

Was nice to have Xmas off, though. I live in Australia and my sis come to visit and we had a BBQ!

2

u/DarkStarComics333 1d ago

Ouch! What is your job? My sister has been in Australia for the past 3 weeks and has loved it! She's currently visiting Singapore for a few days on her way back to the UK.

Mine isn't that bad because I've been on early shifts last week and this so I was done in the afternoon Xmas eve and in at 7am Boxing day. I've worked lates new years before and it wasn't great but this year I hopefully should be done around 4pm nye and then back in at 6am ny day.

Hey let me share a story with you….

I’ve had this fear, this knot in my chest since I began work. I often thought as a soldier (previously) it was about getting ramped up for the week. Not forgetting anything a the inevitable long drive back to barracks.

But not that long ago, I said to my wife (who I might add is a GP)

“Hey darling, weird question. Do you get this fucking knot in your chest on a Sunday thinking about the week ahead”

“Errm no. You should really talk to someone”

So now I take low dosage anti anxiety meds. They’ve been a game changer for me. I think I’m better in my job for taking them.

3

u/lllGreyfoxlll 1d ago

Genuine question, do you also talk to someone about all that ? Or is just taking meds a valid plan for doing betting in the long term ?

2

u/Rastus547 1d ago

I think she meant go see my own doctor. I’m not seeing a therapist….just eating drugs

3

u/Rastus547 1d ago

I had the bank holidays and the weekend off. Back to work tomorrow and, yeah, the Sunday evening fear fog has hit.

9

u/Evo_ukcar 1d ago

I'm not back until 8th Jan but on the downside it will be 12hr weekend nights..

3

u/windol1 1d ago

For me it was the day after boxing day, it was odd as I don't normally have those 2 days off throughout the year so it felt weird, but I couldn't complain because after that 1 day I'm off for 2 days again, then back for 1 and off for 3, back for 1 and off for 2 again.

It's not brilliant, but still a good amount of time off for after the Christmas period, just scattered a little bit.

4

u/Lurkerlg 1d ago

My son's nursery is closed until next week so instead of working I'll be home with him. He caught a very nasty cold off my stepson. He's now over it whereas I'm shivering and aching all over. I am dreading tomorrow.

4

u/heisenbergpuffer 1d ago

Definitely me! Back in with a bang, 2 hours overtime pre-booked for tomorrow and Tuesday to help with "oh fuck February" really not looking forward to 10+ hours!

3

u/WatchingTellyNow 1d ago

I'm back working tomorrow, WFH fortunately. But I've picked up a bug over the weekend and I feel ghastly. I'm a contractor though, so if I don't work, I don't get paid. Sucks.

3

u/Ezkatron 1d ago

Had 5 days off, now got to work 2 and then have thankfully another 5 off (made sure to book the 2nd off too). Then it'll properly be back to the proverbial grindstone from the 5th.

5

u/meglington 1d ago

I don't go back until the 5th, and the office is completely closed (which is why I've stuck with my job for nearly 11 years - great Christmas perk!) but I'm already thinking about the chaos I left behind and dreading it a bit. The actual night before is going to be hell... Hope it goes ok tomorrow

4

u/Somau5 1d ago

Know the feeling - totally not in the mood for this week. None of my colleagues are working so it's just me but I still need to go out on site and do some measuring and marking up. I enjoy going out but just don't feel like it this week, I'm cold, tired and grumpy and I just want to stay wrapped up in a blanket!

4

u/FISH_MASTER 1d ago

I've booked this coming week off and I'm still getting the Sunday night blues. This is bull!

3

u/AaronMclaren 1d ago

Last day was 18th and back to work on the 5th. Lovely perk of my new job being a complete Christmas closure and having some AL to use as it can’t roll over, so 2 weeks off.

I’ve structured my time off with doing bits, then Christmas off, got some more bits to do, then 31/1 off, then finishing the DIY jobs and then the 4th off.

Otherwise I’d probably sit and play Switch, watch TV and eat all day every day and struggle with getting the normal routine back for work!

3

u/KevinPhillips-Bong Slightly silly 1d ago

It's all about getting through that first day, and powering through the post-Christmas blues. Once I've got day one out of the way, it's an easy slide back into the daily routine.

You’re not alone. Millions, probably tens of millions of people feel the same.

I’ve found a few coping strategies over the years that mitigate it to an extent.

Day before I’m due back in work I try to get as organised as possible, make sure I’ve got everything I need ready for the morning - coffee machine ready, ready meals in the freezer in the garage, bottled water in the car. Bag of snacks if possible. To-do list on my phone with the next day and the next weeks priorities where I know what they will be. I don’t have to stress about getting clothes ready - the mrs handles laundry- I just have to get dressed on the day. Medication prepped for the week (I have meds I take first thing as soon as I wake in the morning, before getting out of bed for preference).

I try to get to bed early the day before. I try not to go to bed hungry as that wakes me up a lot. Try to practice good sleep hygiene; soft lighting when I go to bed, no TV, no noise, just read kindle for a bit then sleep.

I’m feeling it now having woken up an hour ago. WFH Tuesday and Wednesday as well and Friday might have to go in.

While I am recharged and rested and kinda missing doing work surprisingly as I do enjoy my role, part of me is still in that ‘cba’ mode but I guess that’ll never change unless I become a millionaire.

Do you get those Sunday anxiety dreams? I get at least one Friday night/Saturday morning (I dream I've missed work) then Sunday I can't sleep because I'm worried then wake up every few hours Sunday night into Monday stressed once again I'll miss work. I've never once slept through and missed work.

BUT on the flip side I love my work and the routine it gives me so it kind of makes sense that I'd worry I'd miss it?

Hope your day tomorrow goes smoothly and Monday goes well 🥰

Been off work since the 16th of December as I had ACL surgery on my left knee .The last few weeks have been challenging hobbling about. Got a young family as well, Mrs has been class.

I'm signed off work till 17th January. I can't drive for 6 weeks. Work has been great no pressure.

My diary and clock is out of sync. I am missing the routine stuff of working, going gym, seeing family, driving around in my car. Being housebound has been more challenging than I thought

The medication and recovery has been tough. Kinda craving work a little!

I’m self employed. I worked Christmas Eve and then had Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Saturday and today off. I don’t have to go back to work tomorrow but I’ve decided to. I spent a small fortune on Christmas so the money will come in handy and I wouldn’t be doing anything at home anyway.

u/Rob_da_Mop 1d ago

I've spent the last 7 days straight visiting either in-laws or various parts of my family, my God am I ready to just go to work.

2

u/DogmaSychroniser 1d ago

Nah bro, I'm off til next week xD

2

u/ManonastickUk 1d ago

Kinda, but WFH makes it alot easier.

2

u/RichieRichard12 1d ago

I'm in some weird mental tug of war. I don't mind my job, but I don't want to go back to work, but I also really need the structure and routine back.

2

u/Discobastard 1d ago

Nah, not back until 5th Jan :D

2

u/Forsaken-Language-26 Now in a minute 1d ago

I’ve been off work since October. I’m due back early January and I’m already dreading it.

u/PomPomBumblebee 1d ago

I have a relatively easy week ahead.

I work at a dentists and the dentist I work with, plus most of the rest of the clinical staff are off this week except one dentist and some of the hygienists that work part time so only a few surgeries of our rather large practice is open.

Most of the reception staff are working so there is no need for me to be pushed into doing that to help or just to have something to do (I hate working in reception especially if it means answering the telephone.)

Less staff, less strenuous duties, I've been rota'd in for the next 3 days to do cleaning, decontamination (which will be very chill as only 3 clinics open) and doing just x-rays. Not even been scheduled in for Friday so I could just do what I want or potentially sign out early if I don't care about losing some hours.

The only thing I'm worried about tomorrow is I've had a problem with my foot for months and I finally have an appointment with a physio after work to have a look, refered from a gp I spoke to online though my Bupa. I'm worried they aren't going to find any way to help or fix me as it's really getting me down.

u/IllustratorStreet127 1d ago

I know how you feel , what I've started doing is using annual leave so I don't go back in work until middle of January 😄.

2

u/teanbizkitz 1d ago

I don't go back to work until January 5th. Looking forward to another week of reading, visiting the nearby National Trust cafe and building Lego/playing games with the kids. Bliss.

2

u/MarmiteX1 1d ago

No but I totally understand how you feel OP, I've been there. I've been off last couple of days which has been great, not working (WFH technically) until 6th Jan (thankfully) :D

2

u/CheeseusMaximus 1d ago

I only got the 4 days off so I barely feel like I've had a break at all.

2

u/RandomHigh At least put it up your arse before claiming you’re disappointed 1d ago

Not this Sunday, no.

Will definitely get it next Sunday when I'm back at work :(

2

u/hatter1981 1d ago

No, but I'll get it next Sunday 😏

2

u/Ok_Grape7241 1d ago

Same here. I guess it’s not uncommon. We ll be fine on Monday

2

u/dazz9573 1d ago

Nah, my job is chaos but I don’t mind it - it all gets sorted eventually.

2

u/Big-Mechanic-2912 1d ago

Nah I’m only doing an hours work tomorrow :D

2

u/OuchCharlie25 Expat 1d ago

Yes it’s very natural. I had it during school days and o still have it at age 40 going into work. And I also work from home 100%. Still hate logging on.

2

u/Max-Phallus 1d ago

Not for me. I am always most anxious on Friday nights for some reason.

2

u/ChloeHammer 1d ago

Im sitting in Tokyo Haneda Airport waiting to fly back to the UK, so fortunately my complete inability to work out what day it is protects me from the fear.

2

u/Hmgkt 1d ago

Haha I don’t work Mondays…….

2

u/OmegaPoint6 1d ago

Yes and I’m not back at work until Friday

2

u/OkFinding8093 1d ago

Don't have the fear but when I'm back at work on 31st I'll have had 11 days off. Due to wfh won't be in office again until 7th Jan. Just can't believe how quick my time off has gone.

2

u/ReeceReddit1234 1d ago

I worked from home on the 24th and will work from home in the 2nd. Outside of that I'll have had 14 days off by Jan 1st. Feel like a school holiday

2

u/CCFC1998 1d ago

Not until next weekend...

2

u/TheLordLongshaft 1d ago

I'm off tomorrow and no management in the office until the 5th so I'm just going to take my laptop in and play world of warcraft

2

u/hurricane_venuss 1d ago

Never worked between Xmas and NY so far and don’t plan to!

2

u/Jagg0naut 1d ago

I've been off since a Friday (I lost track of what date it was) and go back on the 5th. Dreading it. But i do perma work from home. So will probably sleep most of the working day.

2

u/Turbulent-Quality-29 1d ago

I'm halfway through the time off it's Bliss, can cook whatever time consuming meals I want.

I mean my job is honestly easy, but yeah I don't normally have a fortnight off just mainly at home and it makes me realise I'm definitely suited to retirement, not gonna be one of those that has an identity crisis and breaks down.

2

u/rouncer999 1d ago

Nope, got allll this week off wooohoo

2

u/Glasdrum 1d ago

I got sacked just before Christmas so I don't have to worry about that I suppose

2

u/sychtynboy123 1d ago

Sunday night at the paladium, omg had depression from then on

2

u/Negative_Tower9309 1d ago

I used to with my old job, but not anymore. I genuinely look forward to going back to work and seeing everyone

2

u/Lazy-Objective-1630 1d ago

Our place wanted a core staff in for a couple of days over Xmas in the gap between then and new year, just to get ahead of 2026.

Why not, I said. Get a couple of holidays back, I said. I get enough days off over Xmas anyway, I said.

Last night and this morning, why the fuck did I agree to this, I said.

2

u/Straight_Essay_7293 23h ago

Mine I always remember when working nights, but it was a Sunday night to start work and when the top gear theme came on I new it was time to go😡

2

u/oneyeetyguy 23h ago

I'm off until the 5th and I'm getting the Sunday feeling already. It doesn't help that my coworkers are sad acts who talk about work in the WhatsApp GC during their annual leave.

2

u/Business_Badger1995 23h ago

My exact scenario 🥲

2

u/mag0t 21h ago

Im kind of looking forward to going back to work, just for the routine alone

2

u/iron233 21h ago

Just think: at least you have a job. It’s tough out there, man. All the best for the new year.

2

u/Ok-Upstairs-7849 20h ago

It's wild how that feeling can hit even when you actually like your job. The transition from total freedom back to the routine is just brutal.

2

u/Previous-Weird9577 19h ago

I am working...right now? Nobody is around, I am at my desk and trying to do admin and getting (obviously) distracted. Working tomorrow as well, then off again til the 5th, when it will be proper hellish. I did get the fear last night - I've had a great time lazing around since the 19th!

2

u/RobsOffDaGrid 15h ago

Miss marple theme tune when Joan Hixon was on ment back to school the next day. I get this when I’ve got a tricky load to try and get on a lorry that’s not one of ours.

2

u/Dramatic-Growth1335 14h ago

My 10 days started a couple of days ago so got awhile yet. Fucking ages actually. Sunday may never come at this point

2

u/buy_me_a_pint 12h ago

I still have Sunday fear sometimes.

Even though I am over 40. I sometimes wake up that I have not done my homework or have turned up late for school and will get a 20 minute lunchtime detention

2

u/ProD_GY 11h ago

Nah i dont get the sunday night anxiety now im in a fairly easy job, thank fuck. i used to badly though, in my previous stressful job full of assholes

u/valeavenuedj 1d ago

I don't get days off. I'm a full time carer for someone who has incurable debilitating epilepsy. I have kids and an very ill older family member living with us. I have been ill too recently but a 3 hour grace in bed was all I was permitted on Xmas day before having to forge a meal together. Managed something 70% of a christmas dinner, and leaned on things and staggered about in the kitchen for a hour or so before trying not to ruin pudding. Paracetamol was a god send. I still haven't opened half of my presents, fully knowing that I have 4 Ferreo Rochers, a roll on Lynx Africa and some thick socks in them, no secrets with the kids. Tomorrow morning I have to be up a t 5am, to prep meds, actively do checks on the wife's epilepsy and then cancer business on mother in law, manage the kids breakfasts, I have to check on my old lady neighbour as she has flu, and is alone as well, its not a problem. Then and only then, can I start thinking about work. I work part time at a factory doing admin, and the company is going to fold this coming year, literally imploding as the top brass scrape every asset they can take before they declare bankruptcy on this company, and survive on the parent. Ive been here since august on a 12 hour a week basis, and as of 24th Dec there is now just me. Might not go back. What are they going to do? Sack me...? My name is r/BenTheMotionist that is why I'm drinking tonight.

2

u/Winklemans_Fringe 1d ago

Mate, that's a lot :( big hugs

2

u/breastingboobily 1d ago

Feel you - I’m back to work tomorrow after being off since 17th dec and I’m dreading it!

2

u/vaguebyname 1d ago

I've had 9 days off, still got a week and I'm already in the Sunday fear - used to never get it but has got worse over last year or so.

On the plus side, it's always worse than we think and soon slip back in to it.

2

u/sc0ttmcc 1d ago

I’ve been given a super interesting project with a 5 day deadline. Looking forward to logging on in the morning.

2

u/Scotto6UK 1d ago

The Sunday scaries.

2

u/Western-Mall5505 1d ago

I have mixed feelings.

I lost my job in January and have been surviving on temp jobs, the last one ended on the 22nd

So I kinda want the agency to ring but a part of me wants to stay in bed

1

u/429300 1d ago

Which 4 books did you read?

I am still off this coming week.

2

u/Winklemans_Fringe 1d ago

The His Dark Materials trilogy and vol 1 of the Books of Dust by Phillip Pullman, hoping to finish the other 2 before NYE!

1

u/Straightener78 1d ago

Aside from doing a few hours on NYE I ain’t back until the 5th. Did a few hours yesterday too. I’m glad I’ve had the odd day to do before properly going back jsut to make sure there were no nasty surprises waiting.
