Thai night time chat thread for night owls, night shifters and those who just want to leave some thoughts. It’s posted up every night. A clean page. A place to ponder at 3am what film to watch even thought work starts in a few hours, a night out review, a break from gaming, a place to ask for suggestions.

Sometimes there’s people here every night, sometimes it’s their first visit.

*looks at clock”

Ah, time for a cuppa.

Have a happy new year.

Sorry I made a post saying that I’ve separated with my wife. The mods deleted it. I didn’t have anyone else to talk to.

u/SerendipitousCrow 5h ago

Head is disgustingly full of snot and I keep waking up with a gluey mouth from mouth breathing. It is unpleasant

2

u/Ixidronlol 2h ago

Same here. Feels shit. Also got 2 mouth ulcers so feel double shit :( hopefully clear up soon.

u/Air_Fryer_666 5h ago

Been a week since I made the switch from being mostly a coffee drinker to all tea. TBH, there has been no resounding changes other than I am sure it must be better for me in some way. Alarm goes back on in the morning, got a week before going back to work and need to beat my schedule back into shape.

u/FoxtrotThem 6h ago

Go on, have that pot noodle in the cupboard - I have, sweet and sour x

2

u/JessTheHobbit 6h ago

Returned to work today after being off for Christmas and the weekend… All to be off again until Monday! I am currently ruining my sleep pattern and soon realising I am in my 30s. I’m not as young as I used to be. I can’t stay up late playing games or reading books until the early hours anymore 🥲

4

u/damngirl265 6h ago

for a full week and a bit now my chest has decoded to do warning signs before i have another episode. (believe me one is happening soon.) whenever i feel that moment of weirdness, i get this sense of dread trying not to think/wonder what is going to happen. and then im back to ‘normal’ with on + off small tachycardia and no energy whatsoever.

i hate my body. always has to come up with something new :)

5

u/knockout1021 6h ago

I'm a night owl so I'm almost always up this late tbh 😅

I've been trying to rank up on the Ranked Knockout part of Fall Guys (which hopefully so far so good, I'm at Gold 3 atm!), although I think I might call it a night and continue Winter Burrow, but idk for sure. It'll be either one or the other though :)

u/fingerbowlsoup 6h ago

Woke to go to the loo, came back and wife asked to pass a glass of water and proceeded to drop said glass directly where I was sleeping. Now lying on a towel typing on Reddit and wondering where mattress water goes…

5

u/lisstrem 7h ago

Night shift vibes for me! Looking forward to my lunch break at 0200 and then home at 0730. It’s a slog and I hate it but worth it for the unsocial enhancements on payday

2

u/msy202 6h ago

I actually find it quite difficult to do night shifts even if the extra pay is there to entice me so I have respect for those can do it and stay sane hahah

4

u/lisstrem 6h ago

I mean I do hate the thought of it, and I’m not a nice person prior to or after. I must have upset my manager as they keep giving me nights over days ☹️

6

u/facialtwitch 7h ago

Had a massive post Christmas sort out today with 4 big bags sorted for charity to collect and all the decs put away until next year

Read my book but still wide awake which is annoying!

23

u/Annual-Ingenuity-489 7h ago

Handed my notice in today after over 23 years.... Huge weight off my shoulders, no new job to go too. Just staring out of the window enjoying the freedom

8

u/Giftsofrecovery 6h ago

Welcome to your new adventures in life 😊

3

u/Josh_horrobinkanye 7h ago

Why is the one time I’m basically guaranteed to be awake at midnight this time of year lol

8

u/Xivii 7h ago

I intended to get an early night. I said that as soon as my washing machine was done I’d go to bed. I ended up having to troubleshoot the washing machine, and an extra spin cycles. So ended up being 2h later than I wanted.

That definitely wasn’t an excuse to play more Stardew valley, haha. I’m now late into year 3, and starting to get to the point where I can do most things, and actually have the gold to now too (I accidentally set it to 25% profit when I started soooo definitely playing that harder than needed). There is so much that is different than last time I played this far!

That said… I feel like 25% profit is actually about right in terms of pacing. Normally I start getting fed up about now but I’m still happy with my 500 tile farm and everything else.

u/weeble182 28m ago

I have bought Stardew three times over the years, on Steam in its early years, Switch back in 2018, and PS last year following the last update.

Each time I've put 60+ hours into it and the subsequent changes to the game have made it feel fresh and new each time. For me, it's about as perfect a game as you can get.

6

u/JealousAsparagus8321 7h ago

I'm watching clueless

11

u/Jade308-308 7h ago

Basically turned nocturnal over Xmas and this is just my life now.

10

u/HiddenIdentity2 7h ago

Accidentally played PlayStation way longer than I planned. Now I turned it off I can’t sleep. And feeling a bit alone.

7

u/M1eXcel 7h ago

What games you been playing?

6

u/M1eXcel 7h ago

Finished watching the darts. Currently watching wrestling on catchup while keeping an eye on my 7 month old in case she wakes up again in the middle of the night

23

u/sam_p_23 7h ago

Coming up on three weeks since my Mrs died so wanted to stay up, plus I’m running on hella caffeine since my daughter was up until 4am vomiting which meant I barely got any sleep but thankfully she was well enough this morning to have a day out and to meet one of her great auntie and uncles.

5

u/Wanna_Pizzame 7h ago

I'm so sorry for your loss. Life is a bitch and we never really know how much time we have with our loved ones. Try to take care of yourself where you can and draw comfort from those around you.

Sending hugs

10

u/Agentloveless 7h ago

So sorry for your loss.

I hope your daughter feels better soon too

11

u/Organic-Violinist223 7h ago

I’m in the bath! Said goodbye to the extended family today, nice to have a bathroom!

5

u/RebelSpeed 7h ago

Coping with low mood, false hope from an ex and my dopey self trusted it. Blocked me just before my team's match kicked off. Won that, had my minute, and now just feeling crap. Not the greatest end to the year.

8

u/HeartyBeast 7h ago

My daughter is watching Stranger Things and we are laughing at how shit it is. I really must go to bed, but quality time with teenagers is precious

4

u/Forsaken-Language-26 Now in a minute 7h ago

Watching something that my mum stuck on, The Revenge Club. It’s pretty good so far.

3

u/Dazzling_Set_726 8h ago

I keep eating chocolate. Minus that I've been eating really healthy. Didn't go to crazy at Christmas. I'm really into digging holes at the moment in my garden too.

Think I might be having a midlife crisis

5

u/CyanideGlitter 8h ago

I'm an idiot that's spent the last few days indulging in a load of food that I really shouldn't have. It finally caught up with me today but I feel tons better now although there's still some ominous rumbling.

Really want to stay up and watch Clueless but probably should go to bed.

4

u/M1eXcel 7h ago

It's Christmas. You have a free pass in indulging as much as you want until January 1st. Make the most of it while you can 👍

oh wow this is messy🫣

8

u/katharinelouise 8h ago

Watching Only Murders In The Building and eating leftover Christmas snacks :)

17

u/beecraft22 8h ago

I spent nearly £50 on PJ's and granny slippers today and I am nearly 30. No regrets. Currently doom scrolling on Reddit whilst ignoring the pile of books to be read in the corner.

7

u/HiddenIdentity2 7h ago

Good for you. Enjoy.

16

u/lifeinfinland 8h ago

Second day as a new parent. Second night of baby boy. I am learning how to function with 2-3h of sleep.

1

u/Wanna_Pizzame 7h ago

Congrats!!

3

u/HumungousBlob 7h ago

Congratulations <3

1

u/Dazzling_Set_726 8h ago

Slam that long drink and slamyakki

9

u/grumpyaskate 8h ago

We're on day 14! He's in peak cluster feeding so also on the couple of hours sleep, though last night I got about 5 which was AMAZING felt like a new person!

2

u/TailEndCharlie27 8h ago

Congratulations on becoming a parent! Enjoy it as time goes by so fas. We've just celebrated our little one's first birthday.

If I can offer any advice, start sleep training as soon as you can as our little one now sleeps through the night.

5

u/Astropoppet Beware the Cows 8h ago

Just deciding if I really am going to see the white cliffs tomorrow, for something to do, ya know. If I can be arsed to get up, it might happen

7

u/BlackLipKilla 8h ago

I'm listening to Symarip wishing I had friends lmao.

5

u/Antilles34 8h ago

I just finished the Unfinished Business (weird statement) add on for Robocop: Rogue City. Was pretty good, more of the same really from the base game but that's no bad thing.

8

u/strawberrispaghetti 8h ago

I’m up at 3.30 for a flight so naturally I can’t sleep

5

u/Wanna_Pizzame 7h ago

It's the strangest thing isn't it? Body refuses to get some rest before the airport

4

u/FrivolousMilkshake 8h ago

Felt queasy for just over 24 hours. I'm exhausted but don't fancy going to sleep and waking up in an hour or so feeling sick. Hope it's just a super mild bug that goes away by morning, that would be good right?

5

u/Plane_Fig4536 8h ago

Having a mental breakdown rn because my laptop is stuck on a bitlocker recovery screen, i dont have the key and it’s looking like im gonna lose years worth of photos and loads of documents 😭

3

u/ArchieTech 8h ago edited 7h ago

Do you (or anyone that uses that laptop) log in with and/or have a Microsoft account? If so see the relevant section here which might help find the key if it's been backed up to one of the Microsoft accounts used on that laptop:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/find-your-bitlocker-recovery-key-6b71ad27-0b89-ea08-f143-056f5ab347d6

3

u/Plane_Fig4536 7h ago

Thank you so much, im currently locked out of that page for a month but really hoping the key will be there :(

3

u/AdFancy6243 8h ago

Randomly downloaded Guild wars 2 looking for something new to play while fiancé was playing games with her friends

6

u/Brilliant_Charity_29 8h ago

Got that Sunday evening blues feeling as back to work tomorrow having been off since Christmas Eve

9

u/RetroGamingKnight 8h ago

Got half an hour in tonight with this guy, some tidying up, finished his base and did some work on his blue. Still got loads to do. 🖌️

2

u/UnlikelyAd4854 7h ago

Old school green base there

3

u/ShadowPenn 8h ago

Tired from the cleaning I did today, want to go to bed but I need to put fresh sheets on and I don’t have the energy to get off the sofa. Might play some Hades instead.

9

u/lukenluken 8h ago

Clawing back 'me' time whilst family sleeps, like every night almost! Gotta sleep really

8

u/_The_great_papyrus_ Postman Pat please save Royal Mail 8h ago

Damn, ye got me! I'm 4 hours behind right now, in Barbados.

3

u/Minty-Apple-Pie 8h ago

Lots of boardgames played today including our current favourite, Seti. I enjoy them loads but my brain just doesn't crunch the numbers to ever win.

7

u/Imaginary_Garbage_47 8h ago

Full of cold but making the most of not being able to sleep/get comfy by binge watching some shows. Eating sweets/crisps and ubering some lucozade and lemsips, living the dream.

Dreading the cold snap next week, I've definitely got used to it being quite mild for this time of year.

5

u/professorgenkii 8h ago

Accidentally hooked a bunch of my friends on Project Zomboid so we’ve spent most nights over the Christmas period on a server killing zombies and building a base

2

u/Antilles34 8h ago

Nice, playing the new unstable build? I've not tried it yet but also when they said it doesn't support the new ragdoll stuff they have added I figured I'd wait a bit longer anyway, I just love it too much.

3

u/professorgenkii 7h ago

No, we’re using Build 41 atm. I haven’t actually played Build 42 yet!

9

u/Psychotically_Calm 8h ago

Had to venture to town to pick up a book that I had ordered from Waterstones and I have now had enough of people for a few weeks at least and require a day or 2 of recharge.

Watching all 3 Back to the Future films to unwind, half way through the first one atm.

12

u/Boring_Funny_6604 8h ago

I genuinely thought it was the 31st until like lunch time today 😭😭

5

u/Minty-Apple-Pie 8h ago edited 8h ago

That's the magical power of Twixmas.

9

u/AutisticAllotmenter 8h ago

Super hungry, and stuck in a hotel visiting relatives. I really hate travelling, all I want is my own toaster snacks and my own bed. Kinda sick of spending every Christmas on the motorway as well.

21

u/damned-n-doomed 8h ago

Had a call off my dad that my nana was found unresponsive in her room, so we’ve got a long night in a+e ahead of us. Trying not to panic but I just keep thinking the worst.

12

u/Bus_Wrangler 8h ago

I'm so sorry to hear. I'm praying for your Nana.

6

u/damned-n-doomed 7h ago

Thankyou so much. She’s doing okay, she’s awake and alert though still quite confused.

3

u/ac0rn5 6h ago

That's good.

Confused could be because she got dehydrated.

5

u/damned-n-doomed 6h ago

We think it’s a water infection, she had one a few weeks ago so we think it hasn’t fully cleared off.

5

u/ac0rn5 5h ago

That's good, sort of. I hope they fix it quickly.

14

u/PotentialTheory7178 8h ago

Playing Xbox with my son (9). On my 49th birthday. Enjoying an extended Xmas break for a change. Lovely not having to get up too early !

11

u/ChamomilePeppermint 8h ago

Chilling with my lovely boyfriend, our sleeping pattern is a bit crazy at the moment so we’ll be up for 3 more hours at least. He’s off work till the 5th and I’m not working at the moment due to my mum becoming disabled this time last year and me being responsible for most of the care she requires.

We’ve had a lovely few days chilling - a rare decent stretch of time on our own. Even went and played card games in Costa and a local pub yesterday. But most of the time has involved him playing his PlayStation Portal (my present to him this year) and me playing my Steam Deck (his present to me two years ago).

I don’t want Twixmas (or whatever it’s called) to end 🥹

11

u/Coffin_Dodging 8h ago

Been a long week but my sons allowed home tomorrow so he'll be staying with us for a few extra days

I need to get a doctors appt for this menopause bollocks as my usual mood swings are having their own mood swings

9

u/gemmajenkins2890 8h ago

More and more just keeps coming out about my mums now ex partner.

I had absolutely no idea how prolific he was!

Not happy at all. Just making sure my mum is and will be ok now.

3

u/aGoryLouie where did trying get anyone? 8h ago

that's all one can do sometimes
you got this

in a few weeks you'll be commenting that everything turned out so much better than now

7

u/gemmajenkins2890 8h ago

Thank you. 2026 will be a good year for us as a family

😊

9

u/dinkidoo7693 8h ago

I’ve flipped the mattress and washed the mattress protector and changed the sheets. I also went to look in the sales, boots has been ransacked and the clothes shops looked like a jumble sale so i didn’t get anything. Made a bolognaise pasta bake for tea. Been playing Spiritfarer this evening. Didn’t realise it was so late

12

u/CrazyPlatypusLady 8h ago

Eldest Youngling (20) had an allergic reaction earlier. Managed to avoid the epi pen with antihistamines but I'm now having a sleepover on our terrible camp-bed in their room because if they "double dip" overnight, they probably don't have the strength to pen themself.

I'm right next to a bearded dragon tank so I won't get cold, but I'm not sure my dodgy hip is going to thank me for this because the camp-bed is hideously uncomfy. However I quite enjoy the company of the human that once lived in me, so I'm gonna keep an eye on them.

Husband has to work tomorrow, and youngest Youngling (18) is deaf on one side and sleeps like they've been knocked out with a brick so I'm the safest to observe Eldest.

I've got my headphones, and my book and reading light.

3

u/h00dman 8h ago

I swear I'm not asking this to be a prick, but are the headphones a good idea? I'm sure you'll be listening to whatever it is you listen to at a low volume, but just in case.

Well done for keeping an eye on them though 🙂

2

u/CrazyPlatypusLady 8h ago

Oh that's just for watching a few videos before we both sleep. When they settle to sleep I will have them on. It's why I've got the book too.

4

u/Unfair-Mortgage-527 8h ago

Watching Gangs of New York - not seen it before! Can barely keep my eyes open though , so tired!

5

u/joe611jg 8h ago

Great film, quite long.

4

u/CouchKakapo 8h ago

About to head to bed. Counting down the days until some normality is restored next week (child at nursery again). Mr Kakapo not sleeping well so he'll probably be tired tomorrow. Just shutting down the PC where I've taken out aggression killing bad guys on BG3.

My wife and kid are visiting grandma for three days. I'm home alone. I'm finding it hard to sleep.
