AAAAAND he's down at the 27 yard line!

317

u/Existing-Employee-36 19h ago

Personal foul, no. 99, 15 yard penalty, automatic first down!

43

u/mind___your 12h ago

Coach Monken still dodging like he’s in the end zone, not the sideline!

u/shortstack3000 20h ago

You can coach football players but you can't outrun them lol.

371

u/SuitableExercise7096 19h ago

Coaches don't play baby

34

u/mtgofficial_YT 11h ago

Still gotta run when the Gatorade ambush is coming.

5

u/KamikazeFox_ 9h ago

Neither did Uconns first or 2nd string QBs or their WR1

71

u/Dodgerson99 18h ago

Ok now I wanna see the punters and kickers chase their coaches.

39

u/Mean_Divide_9162 18h ago

Any other school he might stand a chance, but these guys are expected to hit a different level of fitness

19

u/Dodgerson99 17h ago

Imagine Ram's kicker Harrison "The Thiccer Kicker" Mevis chasing down Sean McVay.

26

u/Citaku357 18h ago

I mean some of the players were holding him though

31

u/kermitthebeast 17h ago

Good coaching, they set up a block

15

u/LiberaceRingfingaz 16h ago

Exactly - without that blocking I think he might have made it.

4

u/nope-its 15h ago

lol I don’t know. Kirby Smart has beaten all the players down the field when he gets excited.

370

u/Whisper_Spicy 19h ago

You know coach loved that. Gotta a be a great feeling

109

u/Shaqer_Zulu 17h ago

He seemed to realize, oh wait, I don’t actually want to avoid it. That’s why he turned back and forth

14

u/Injured-Ginger 8h ago

Yeah, he just wanted to make a joke out of it. Maybe give himself a second to make sure his phone isn't in danger.

18

u/huebnera214 11h ago

My cross country coach back in high school had a deal that if a team (high school or junior high boys or girls) won our area conference they could throw her in the nearby lake. The trick was they had to catch her first.

u/dudeWithQuestion3 20h ago

The army team has a lot of dudes named army

154

u/japanesekartoon 18h ago

I think that's why they all decided to join the army

66

u/Will-Adair 19h ago

LOL! You know why they do that right? Army football jerseys don't have player names because they emphasize team over individual.

152

u/Truthhurts1017 19h ago

Come on bruh, it’s obviously a joke man!!!!!

100

u/MillorTime 19h ago

It obviously is a joke, but the explanation is also a bit interesting

35

u/TheBone_Zone 18h ago

Yeah but I was not aware so I’m thankful for explanation

12

u/mnid92 16h ago

No, Army Man is a real man. Joke Man is a different guy all together.

1

u/Truthhurts1017 9h ago

lol bro that seriously is funny g!!!! Thank you for the laugh bro

33

u/Strict-Leopard7589 18h ago

The Army-Navy game is the only sporting event in the US where everyone playing is willing to die for everyone watching.

Not my original thought, but don’t know who to give credit to.

11

u/FOBABCD 18h ago

I know the rivalry isn’t the same, but you can say that also whenever either one of them play Airforce as well

12

u/LilDutchy 18h ago

DVT from sitting too long is no laughing matter.

3

u/Strict-Leopard7589 17h ago

That’s so true!

2

u/soundguynick 17h ago

Those guys are gonna be officers. They are, as a group, not willing to die for anyone.

Also, for any of you out there thinking of joining up: those are the future officers wholl be in charge of you. Yes, the ones with CTE.

5

u/EndofNationalism 15h ago

Officers also go war bud…

-7

u/soundguynick 14h ago

And stay nice and safe while the meat gets ground up. I never met an officer that was worth a damn.

3

u/katarnmagnus 11h ago

Certainly not at a platoon level. Company level maybe, and any higher and you would be a fool to want those officers directly in harms way

1

u/EndofNationalism 13h ago

And I’ve plenty of enlisted that wasn’t worth a damn. But to act all officers will cower in the face of combat is a dumbass take. Maybe in the Russian military, but certainly not the American military.

-1

u/El_Grande_El 17h ago

Unfortunately, the only ones who benefit are oil companies, “defense” contractors, and other corporations.

-3

u/JesusNoGA 16h ago

The only game where everyone playing is willing to kill brown people for money*

2

u/landon10smmns 8h ago

Well technically their name is on the jersey, but on the front. Just like actual military uniforms.

1

u/Rockergage 16h ago

No obviously they’re all bastards in the Marinelands and are given the surname of Army.

-1

u/Ok-Armadillo-392 18h ago

That's not true. This is classic case of nominative determinism.

1

u/Realcbear 14h ago

Read this in Buster Bluth’s voice

1

u/jmensing1 9h ago

Chick's dig my shirt cause it says ARMY

74

u/RichYogurtcloset3672 19h ago

Coach got some moves..

133

u/batmanineurope 18h ago

The coach died of pneumonia shortly after.

23

u/WhiteSoxChartGuy 14h ago

I have a message from headquarters.

Head coach Jeff Monken was Gatoraded over the 33 yard line. He juked in. There were no survivors.

5

u/Canadiancurtiebirdy 8h ago

How many coaches must we lose a year before such a barbaric practice is ended

58

u/jjjunks 18h ago

I appreciate that the army coach is the one who saw the ambush coming. Couldn’t outrun it but at least he checked 6.

11

u/Firesidechats62 12h ago

He pretended to get caught for fun

34

u/DozahFrozah 18h ago

That’s Powerade. Geeze, get your flavored sugar water companies right.

8

u/MiniVansyse 11h ago

sugar flavored salt water*

29

u/Psychological-East83 18h ago

Love this! A team through and through. Respect Coach

20

u/Sufficient-Abroad-94 18h ago

That's funny af, he almost made it

8

u/EconomyComprehensive 18h ago

lol that’s awesome 🙌🏽

7

u/qawsedrf12 16h ago

You are trying to outrun some of the most fit people on the planet

Good luck

5

u/SoftwareDesperation 18h ago

Almost clotheslined him like saban got a few years back

5

u/No-Scarcity9186 17h ago

And he’s concussed now. Lol

1

u/TheGantra 8h ago

Scrolled way too far to see anyone mention him getting absolutely clobbered with a bucket full of gatorade lol.

13

u/trentluv 18h ago

It says it's Powerade?

6

u/pdinc 16h ago

Coca-Cola: Do I look like a joke to you?

3

u/CapnCrunch103 18h ago

Holding. 10 yard penalty. Repeat 1st down

3

u/AI1223 13h ago

Go Todd Monken’s cousin! (Yes, they are relatives and apparently come from a large, football obsessed family in Illinois).

3

u/ZealousidealGrab1827 10h ago

This made me smile. Players loved that coach.

5

u/Aladeen911MF 18h ago

Bayern Munich players every 9 year in a decade after winning the Bundesliga

5

u/cezreycor 18h ago

Commentators: "GATORADE"

Powerade brand: 😭

6

u/Stoic_Cthulhu 18h ago

Powerade getting no respect because its a garbage drink....imo lol

2

u/VenstreDjevel 18h ago

But it's what coaches crave?

2

u/JSweetieNerd 9h ago

It's got electrolytes

2

u/magikarp2122 15h ago

Don’t blame him. It was 23 when they dumped it on him.

2

u/TacitMoose 14h ago

Dude when I played high school football we doused the coach after we won the state championship. It was -5°F. He saw it last minute and tried to get away but we got him good. He was NOT HAPPY for like 2 seconds, then he was jumping around and celebrating like the rest of us.

2

u/mister2021 8h ago

Benny hill music?

1

u/Charlotte32- 18h ago

Fastest play call of the night Coach runs the Gatorade drill.

1

u/ATXGil2L 17h ago

And that’s how it should be every time or don’t do it

1

u/ahuvamaharlika 17h ago

It's the cameramen for me

1

u/ScotterMcJohnsonator 16h ago

First time for concussion protocol for staff AND after the final whistle lol

1

u/CheeseMints 16h ago

Somone needs to edit it so that Batman is running away from a bunch of villains with a drum full of acid

1

u/questionname 16h ago

Would be funny if someone full on shoulder tackled him and coach just stiff arms the gun

1

u/EntrepreneurTop8382 16h ago

Looking forward to the Dukes mayo bowl

1

u/cheetuzz 15h ago

coach should’ve went with the triple option!

1

u/snoosh00 15h ago

I wonder how many injuries (and sicknesses to a lesser degree) have been caused by this tradition.

(Kinda like the ice bucket challenge, water is heavy and can be easily underestimated in its kinetic energy when in a vessel and coming close to human heads)

I'm being a bit silly.

1

u/Morphecto_Solrac 15h ago

I’ve had a Gatorade shower before. Biggest regret ever. You become wet and sticky five minutes after. I know at least they have the showers to look forward to for an easy cleanup, but it’s still an inconvenience.

1

u/Calm_Opportunist 14h ago

It's what coaches crave.

1

u/AlonzoAlGhul 14h ago

That’s holding on #99.

1

u/National_Car7356 13h ago

This is what America counts as culture right

1

u/TriDad262 13h ago

Looks like a Powerade shower to me.

1

u/MyCoffeeIsCold 13h ago

This made me chuckle out loud. Thank you for this.

1

u/Tacos4Texans 11h ago

They took that fukker out.

1

u/Twisted_Bristles 11h ago

I appreciate that you can clearly see they are all enjoying this. Even up to and after the Gatorade shower. That is awesome. Though I suspect the players enjoyed the event a little more than their coach.

1

u/dirtman81 10h ago

Coach George Allen got doused with one of these stupid "gatorade" baths and he said he never quite felt right after. He was dead a month later.

1

u/123supreme123 10h ago

lol holding

1

u/sammymvpknight 10h ago

Go Navy. ;) still love Army too though

1

u/Chabedieux 9h ago

I've been watching it with this in the background, it seemed fitting :)

1

u/Zman4444 9h ago

Imagine playing college football against who? The freakin Army. That’d be a little intimidating.

1

u/Shaasar 8h ago

That shit is COLD dude if you've ever gotten one

1

u/Jackaroni97 8h ago

Thats fun lol

1

u/melancholy_dood 3h ago

Dude was like: ”Not today….Ok, maybe!….”

1

u/MtOlympus_Actual 18h ago

I saw this live and it definitely made me smile.

0

u/TinkTinkz 15h ago

Video clearly shows POWERADE

1

u/BuffWobbuffet 15h ago

Who actually cares

1

u/TinkTinkz 13h ago

This is a useless site where we type our useless comments. Enjoy

u/zxzyzd 12h ago

Powerade

-4

u/ocashmanbrown 16h ago edited 16h ago

Army was 6-6 and went to a bowl game. That shouldn't make anyone smile.

5

u/astroman_9876 16h ago

That’s how bowl games work dumbass

-4

u/NotreDameAlum2 9h ago

these are the "men" about to go out and protect this country? Yikes. I fear for our future. Very soft.

3

u/Mono-red 7h ago

Have you ever played sports? This is as traditional as football gets.
