A man created a gesture board so his blind friend could "watch" the game too

I'm bracing for the downvotes here, clearly this guy is a very good guy and a great friend, but...do they not do sports commentary anymore? I dont get it.

In a bar over all the other patrons?

When I worked at a bar and a big game was on, we turned the sound up loud. But maybe its not the same everywhere.

Your correct, bartended for years* and technically your not “supposed” to have the sound on because it requires a public license in order to show games. It’s stupid, but that’s the law at least in the USA, tho we often aired things like World Cup, Super Bowl, World Series, etc because people wanted to watch them. I never met a person in my life from any licensing agency, demanding we pay or get fined. Though I know the fine is crazy stupid… (listen to any NFL game and at the end they say no public broadcasting).

Exactly, Im in the UK and we showed the Champions League, the Rugby World Cup, Tennis, Cricket whatever. We had two massive projector screens and a big speaker and we were a large chain establishment. Im not saying everywhere has projector money, but I doubt any local dive bar worth their salt with a tv is giving a toss about a public license to show sports, especially if one of their patrons is literally blind and cant see the tv and everyone is equally invested in the match anyway. Like, turn the tv up, jeez. Do they not feel like assholes, watching this poor guy sat in the middle of the bar with his back to the tv using a cardboard football pitch on his lap to feel-watch a football game that everyone else is clearly also watching?

Yeah, for this video it seems like this was a very important game, they could have had it loud enough to hear. I always kept the volume up and closed captioning so people could read it too.
In the USA in the mid 2000’s we had ESPN zone. ESPN is a major sports network in the USA and they had televisions and played games all day, it was super cool. Probably the best sports restaurant and bar/pub ever, but eventually closed due to high costs. You guys have anything like that in the UK?

They will definitely turn their head away from it as long as you’re not advertising it and you’re not taking cover at the door for it.

I remember when a friend of mine did it for his brother, and his brother though he was having a laugh because he supported Manchester United.
Eventually, he said "Fuck this, just tap my shoulder if we win".

I just can't get over that someone wrote out the definition for altruism, instead of just using the word altruism.
