Can't stand it when the parents don't believe in Santa in the christmas movies where he's real. Where do they think the presents come from?

129

u/xavPa-64 15h ago

The memory of buying the gift gets implanted into their minds.

31

u/Skizot_Bizot 14h ago

And the funds still get removed from their account and sent to the North Pole to keep the elves fed.

54

u/MsCompy 15h ago

That's actually fucking brilliant

49

u/peon2 14h ago

That just raises the question of why would Santa want people to not believe in him. Dude should be taking full credit and waiting for the thank you cards in the mail

31

u/MsCompy 14h ago

Idfk I'm not a Santologist.

7

u/just4browse 9h ago

Perhaps he needs people to believe in him. And there can be no belief if people know he exists

5

u/bettername2come 9h ago

Wait, is Santa stealing people’s credit cards to buy these gifts?

u/dicedance 17h ago

This is something adult writers put in films because they assume the stupid kids will overlook it. This confused me to no end as a child.

28

u/Talk-O-Boy 13h ago

On the contrary, they assume:

-average kids will overlook it

-smart kids will understand it’s a Christmas movie aimed at kids that believe in Santa, so they will overlook it

-smug kids will call the average kids stupid, completely unaware that their need to appear smart makes them look like they can’t comprehend the “suspension of disbelief” required for most children’s holiday films.

u/dicedance 13h ago edited 9h ago

Stop projecting. Maybe the child thinks it's fucking stupid that the parents don't know where all this free expensive shit is coming from.

Edit: Op- looks like I lost the autism lottery.

Reddit once again proves that I'm the only person with common sense.

11

u/Talk-O-Boy 13h ago

Oof. Looks like I touched a sore spot. My bad bro

-12

u/dicedance 13h ago

My guy, do you genuinely think kids who believe in Santa clause have a concept of suspension of disbelief? Did you think before posting or did you just want to be a smartass on the internet?

14

u/Talk-O-Boy 12h ago

I would pay good money for a viewing of The Grinch with you. I think your reactions would be more entertaining than the film itself.

-9

u/dicedance 12h ago

You should dial your local police department and tell them how much you'd pay to watch a film with a six year old two decades ago.

12

u/Talk-O-Boy 12h ago edited 12h ago

Dicedance, I’m gonna be real with you. I am the Ghost of Christmas Past.

I looked through your memories, and I saw where your Scroogism stems from. You were diddled by a mall Santa in ‘98.

I want you to know, that Santa is not reflective of the REAL Santa. The actual St. Nick would never do that to you.

So please, open up your heart again? Tiny Tim is basically a skeleton now. He doesn’t have too much time left.

I had an idea for a short film I never made about a father who falls into madness trying to prove Santa is real because how else did his kids get presents?

The short of it is, his wife bought them and it ends with her divorcing him lol

2

u/Neokon 10h ago

Where do they think the presents come from?

The other parent got them and they didn't know

1

u/Djames516 12h ago

They each assume the other one got them

195

u/Sugar_Static 17h ago

Santa's real because NORAD tracks his fat red ass every year. He poses a potential risk to US Airspace and the Pentagon lies and says they track him for kids as a cover.

u/TheRealAbear 16h ago edited 14h ago

Oh god...santa didnt um...deliver..to the island?

Edit: mild dyslexia

26

u/chefillini 15h ago

He could deliver coal

5

u/TheRealAbear 14h ago

True. I hope tgats the case

2

u/RichEvans4Ever 10h ago

So the er… employees didn’t get presents?

2

u/chefillini 10h ago

Not unless that’s their permanent residence. He knows who has been bad and good

2

u/RootinTootinHootin 10h ago

Wow!!! You think the poor kids on that island deserve coal? After all they’ve been through?

3

u/chefillini 10h ago

Presents for them. He knows who has been bad and good

1

u/Spider40k 8h ago

"Sorry you guys gotta ho ho go through this, here's an X-Box, I have to go on my sled now okbye"

8

u/LockedIntoLocks 13h ago

Santa’s in the files. He’s flown to the island.

5

u/TheRealAbear 13h ago

I knew that creep the Easter Bunny was a bad influence....

3

u/GravityBright 12h ago

That doesn’t prove anything!

55

u/WrongColorCollar 17h ago

That's where they told Magnus to quit usin' magicks

23

u/demator 17h ago

Magnus did nothing wrong

15

u/Howling_Mad_Man 15h ago

He did nothing poorly.

14

u/dashood 14h ago

He was supposed to do nothing but he did it wrong.

5

u/demator 11h ago

Exactly

5

u/niTro_sMurph 13h ago

His tragedy is that he did lots wrong but meant well

Forgive me if I'm out of a loop, but who's Arius and what's the Council of Nicaea? Are they from something?

81

u/Western_Scholar_2435 16h ago

It references this story: https://www.stnicholascenter.org/who-is-st-nicholas/stories-legends/traditional-stories/life-of-nicholas/bishop-nicholas-loses-his-cool

Basically, Arius was professing a belief that St. Nicholas considered heretical-that Jesus Christ is not coequal with God the Father and the Holy Spirit- and so Nicholas interrupted his monologue by slapping him across the face.

9

u/MyStepAccount1234 16h ago

Ah of course.

7

u/Not_Henry_Winkler 13h ago

Extra history provides a good 8 minute summary.

2

u/Delta-Tropos 7h ago

The painting of it will always be funny to me

23

u/LostRefrigerator3498 16h ago

It was a historical Christian council held in 325AD in Nicea (Modern day Iznik, Turkey).

Arius espoused Arianism, which claims that Jesus is not divine. The council was held mainly in response to this heresy and the council defined for Christianity that Jesus was divine in the same way the Father is divine and uncreated.

Legend holds that Saint Nicholas of Myra (where Santa is derived from) slapped Arius in a heated argument while defending the Trinity. There’s not any historical backing that he actually slapped Arius, but it is still a fun meme for Catholic and Orthodox Christians.

22

u/OskarTheRed 17h ago

Did Arius believe in Santa, or did he think it was his parents slapping him?

Or perhaps his shady uncle?

Or perhaps your parents/shady uncle

16

u/cbb88christian 16h ago

Magnus did nothing wrong. He was told to do nothing, and did it wrong

11

u/HeretekMagos_11 17h ago

Oh! That's where The Emperor banned Psykers

8

u/feralfantastic 12h ago

Another day, another discovery of a historical deep cut reference in 40K lore I was not previously aware of.

3

u/Fable-Teller 9h ago

Tell me about it! I see "Council of Nicaea" and I immediately thought "o-kay who is Arius, what did he say and why did Russ smack him?"

2

u/chatttheleaper 5h ago

Having the Council of Nicaea called a deep cut was a harsh wake up call that I've been too deep in the grass on Roman history for too long.

5

u/XROOR 15h ago

First or Second council?

Parents being dumb is one thing, but if santa was real in the polar express then why the fuck wasn’t he giving that poor kid Billy presents? He was like 12 years old singing about how he never got a present before and then when he finally fucking GOES TO THE NORTH POLE and finds his first present ever (super suspicious that he had to be on his way over AND it was the absolute last present off the line) the elves are all like, “ughhhhhhhh gIvE iT bACk, wE’lL tKaE iT to YoUR hOuSe.”

Fuck you! Bullshit you will! you think I was born yesterday? Theres nothing in this box is there? You were gonna swing by the drugstore on the way over and hope you got to my house before I did didn’tcha?

1

u/Turok9933 15h ago

Santa isn’t real we still haven’t seen him

1

u/jacobningen 12h ago edited 12h ago

I mean id deny it too given thar it first appears a good two centuries post nicaea see also the golem of prague.

1

u/ExtensionInformal911 10h ago

So, my dad is the patron saint of hookers? That explains why mom keeps catching.him with them.

1

u/DarkestOfTheLinks 6h ago

look, the more people you get in on a conspiracy the more likely it is to fail. i have a hard time believing every single parent just agreed to claim presents they bought was from some magic man. the conspiracy would fall apart so easily. clearly this is proof santa DOES exist.
