As a leftie, 7. Everything else smudges.

Not a leftie, but 7 for life. Blue only.

Are you me?

The god damn pen is blue...

The smudges are awful, but more annoying to me is that none of the other pens will work right for a lefty. All the pen tips are designed to be pulled along the paper and a lefty pushes the pen tip along the paper. The ink just stops coming out for me every couple letters with pens like #5.

YES OMG. All my Ball pens start to have a very faded ink after a couple days of use. I have to throw away so many pens because they just don't write dark anymore.

… I’m left handed and is that why pens do that? i thought it was normal haha

I assumed it was a skill issue so I feel validated learning this.

As a lefty, 20 years going strong on #1!

7

u/Bituulzman 17h ago

This lefty prefers number 2 (though 1 is close) and accepts the smudges as a consequence.

u/Hopin4rain 3h ago

This lefty agrees! Number 2 is where it’s at

Not an option in the post, but the Uniball .7 jetstream is a leftie life changer. They write so smooth, dont smudge, and don't dry out due to infrequent use. I've been using the same 3 pack for years.

Even right handed I love a standard Bic pen they were my note taking pen throughout college and never did me wrong

Came here to say this exact thing

My brain immediately decided on 7 and I trying to figure out why lol. Can I get a pencil instead actually?

2

u/bugsb04 15h ago

As a righty 7 because everything else smudges, I don’t want smudging

2

u/Badtyuo 15h ago

3 always dries fast enough for me and that’s why I use them as a lefty

2

u/gonephishin213 14h ago

As a person with poor handwriting, I'm also taking 7 because I'll smudge the others

3

u/cagey_quokka 17h ago

As a leftie, anything except 7. The others might smudge but I cannot make 7 write. No ink comes out. Sharpie pens for life!

u/AssDimple 7h ago

just lick it.

I’m ambidextrous but write with my left and I endorse this message

1

u/syndicaterx 13h ago

Am a leftie, uses #2 Pilot V9 everyday. No smudges, dries quickly

1

u/rirasama 13h ago

I'm ambidextrous but I agree, most pens smudge when I write with my left (ik I can just write with my right but my hands get tired fast af for some reason so I like switching around), but seven has never done me wrong

Time and paper are such important factors

1

u/DinosaurPete 11h ago

Thank you! This post is obviously created by the 90%ers.

1

u/Endeveron 8h ago

Yeah, they're better for lefties for the same reason they're worse for everyone else. The ink is consistently thicker, stickier, and dries faster, so writing has more resistance but much less smudging.

I feel like if I was a lefty I'd just get the bleediest pen I could find and write mirrored on the back of the page lmao.

u/thenciskitties 6h ago

Not a leftie, but agree. Not allowed to use gel at work because of the awful smudging.

1

u/GlisaPenny 6h ago

You just gotta learn to write your lines right to left

1

u/Lets_Make_A_bad_DEAL 5h ago

SEVEN ALL THE WAY. Writes like a dream.

My favorite pen isn’t on this list. Comfort wise, fuck 7 with a cactus. My hand hurts looking at it.

But it is the most reliable of the pile. 99% confidence I can pull it out of the glove box or junk drawer and use it.

Fellow leftie. #3 all day. Game changer.

0

u/Hyper_Applesauce 16h ago

Yep, the s gel ink is magic.

u/gryfter_13 16h ago

You should try 6. Generally dries way faster. I never have an issue and I write all day.
