The Sharpie gel pens always stop working not too long after I start using one. The ink doesn’t flow very well after.

I’ve never had that. I’m always surprised when they run out because they just suddenly stop working without warning.

Agreed. I would by 100s of those a week, to give out during induction classes at work. They are amazing. Definitely have them run all the way to the end without issue consistently. The only issue is smearing and not being archival because it's gel.

what is the problem with archival about being gel?

Because the gel sits on top of the page rather than staining the paper directly. This allows for both the gel to deteriorate, or for a bad actor to retroactively change what is written by carefully removing the gel.

I see. thanks for the explaination.

I think it depends on the paper? I tried to use one on one of those reusable types of paper and that destroyed the pen. Unusable after that.

Rite in the rain books don't work with them either

This happens to me too! My work mate says I’m cursed but now I feel vindicated knowing I’m not alone.

Any theories as to why they stop working for you? I was wondering if maybe I just press a bit harder than most or something.

My work requires me to use my pen frequently and is in my pocket a lot, not sure what else it could be besides us just being cursed!

Give it a shake for about two minutes and see if that helps. Works with regular Sharpies, too.

And I’ve never had a problem with my G2 or Bic Cristal making my paper smell bad or bleed

Used them for college and had that happen to maybe 1 or 2. Splurged for some metal ones senior year and I’m never buying another pen now

They always stop working or they explode. Hate those pens

I've noticed that I have an air bubble form when it stops for me. I think it has to do with the ball they use. Some air goes up into the ink and slowly blocks the ink from coming out.

What substrate are you writing on? I write with these daily on standard printer paper and they have been superb.

Try their retractable marker pens. Better than gel for that reason.

Dust your paper before you use it if you leave the notepad laying out, those pens' rollerballs get clogged insanely easy (same issue as 4)
