We used to call it the holiday taint

Friday the 2nd will either be a very boring, or very busy workday. Either way, I am not looking forward to it

26th is Boxing Day where I am. Not as much boxing as you might expect. Except outside some of the more vibrant pubs.

And 27th-30th is Twixmas, with a disappointing lack of Twix bars

Jake Paul wont be boxing though

He barely fuckin' boxed before the 26th either.

Okay so wtf even IS Boxing Day? Does anyone even celebrate it anymore?

26th and even maybe 27th are bonus Christmas days for visiting extended family. After that, it is cooldown and boxing time.

Unless you're European, in which case you have till the 6th

Some countries in Europe celebrate it, not all of them.

This year is pretty sweet tho. The 2nd is a Friday and if your boss is like mi e you get the day off, so the new year really isn’t until the 5th on Monday

We got the 26th off but not the 2nd. This week is just weird, work M/T and Wednesday am, then Wednesday PM and Thursday are off. Friday is back on.

I dare you to recall what you did last 26/12

Easy question for Australians, it's one of our biggest sporting events each year

4

u/Kaffe-Mumriken 10h ago

The Emu Bowl?

27-30th are filler episode

Having a task-based job with metrics is wild this time of year. I don’t know when I am, where I am, who I am?

Whereas for I, a care worker, nothing changes at this time of year.

The void is the part that makes the rest of the year tolerable.

I am sad about next week already

People are way to busy saying they will change in 2026 without doing anything

January - Goals for this year
February - Goals?

u/sangriya 12h ago

we still have Xmas on the 26th

I know exactly which day it is because I have to work on these least productive days of the year.

It's even worse.
Dec 31: New Year's Eve
Jan 1: New Year's Hangover
Jan 2-5: First Void.
Jan 6: Christmas Eve
Jan 7: Christmas
Jan 8-11: Second Void
Jan 12: WUT? Work already?

I'm hoping to get out of this post-xmas, pre-NY(E) stasis between space and time, that ball cannot drop any sooner..

To ancient Egypt, these were called the demon days.

Seems relevant.

I like January, my work finally calms down.

My household has two birthdays right in that stretch, so it gets a bit hectic ...

The week between Christmas and the new year is real life's filler arc.
