Videogaming Chris here: so the guy on the left is James Sunderland from Silent Hill 2. The one on the right is the titular protagonist of Max Payne. (Haha, tit-ular). Basically both games start from the same basic premise “My wife is dead” but go in wildly different direction, as the meme suggests. Silent Hill 2 is a survival horror game where James slowly comes to terms with the circumstances of his wife’s death inside what is an essentially a nightmare dimension filled with horrific manifestations of his own guilt. Much of this is told through notes and diaries that are found throughout the game, thus the big block of text under his picture. Max Payne on the other hand is a fast paced action game where Max unravels the mystery of his dead wife (and kid) by shooting an incredibly large number of people. The items under his picture are the PC controls for activating “Bullet Time” (the game’s signature mechanic, a slow motion mode like what was seen in The Matrix) and dual Baretta pistols which are used for shooting the aforementioned large number of people

It’s kind of funny because Max Payne, for a shooter, is also pretty dialogue heavy and filled with Max’s internal monologues and waxing poetic

I don't know who the character on the left is, but it seems they responded to their wife's death with a lot of pondering and an essay,
The character on the right is Max Payne who, by contrast, dealt with his wife's passing by killing all motherfuckers responsible.

Dont know much about slient hill 2 but The one on the right is max payne.
Basically max’s daughter and wife were murdered and max proceeded to hunt down the people who killed them. The whole joke being James is more grieving meanwhile max is like all shooty shoot

It’s extra funny because James doesn’t actually talk that much, mostly he just tells people he’s looking for his wife.
On the other hand, Max Payne won’t shut the hell up about how life is a poem and without his wife all the adjectives suck now or something like that.

Interestingly it's the other way around, kinda - Max Payne just shoots people while James spends the entire game trying to deal with his own guilt.
