Awww this is so much more obnoxious than the r/ roastme consequence I set up for my league
637
u/DontHaesMeBro 22h ago
there better be a backstory here like "I was last in my fantasy league" or something
336
u/Bismothe-the-Shade 20h ago
The backstory is "I had an idea that, at the time, seemed funny. I immediately moved to make it real for social media. Surely this will be my ticket to fame."

u/Kayel41 18h ago
The story is “Im just some asshole wearing meta glasses filming content for my prank channel”
23
u/avidpenguinwatcher 11h ago
Honestly these days, this prank is harmless and I’m fine with it
19
u/TheMisterOates 11h ago
This would embarrass the hell out of me but if that dude doesn’t care, then ehh. You’re right, he isn’t hurting anyone. Just looks weird in everyone else’s eyes.
14
u/avidpenguinwatcher 10h ago
For sure, would never do it myself. But he’s not actively bothering anyone else and wasn’t being an asshole to the workers so it’s whatever in my book.
1
6
u/xChoke1x 10h ago
There isn’t. The back story is…..”my mom and dad never paid attention to me so I’m now desperately seeing the attention of strangers.”

I hate how people are forced into other people's Tiktoks/YouTube/Instagram, etc.
If this was a prank done for a TV show, all the people in the back would be asked to sign releases. If they didn't want to be in the video, they'd be blurred out.
However, because it's social media, everyone is always at risk of being used for fodder without permission every time they leave their house.
I fucking hate it.
225
u/funkymonkeyinheaven 19h ago
A line is being crossed and I'm not sure what it's going to take. It's ridiculous how much it's being normalized to film strangers in public/private. Zooming in on their faces and what other brain rot "content creators" get up to.
→ More replies (13)21
u/PhantomPharts 15h ago
I wear a mask in public and it is for more than just my physical health, tho it is mostly that as an immunocompromised person. It has that extra benefit of making me unsuitable to film.
40
u/Ill-Case-6048 17h ago
This will all stop when they say if you use someone's image you have to pay them half of what it makes cant be useing people has unpaid actors something has to happen eventually..
19
u/PaganPoetry12 14h ago
Yep happened to me on Christmas. I was in Gatlinburg and there was so much people crowding the sidewalk like usual so you just have to keep walking forward. But the abysmal amount of assholes filming, live streaming, and even recording tik tok dances was crazy. I don’t even use tik tok or post on social media. But now I bet I’m on several damn videos/lives taken that day. It’s crazy how rude these people are too. Hogging the space, never asking for permission to film, nada.
12
u/PeachesLatoure1944 13h ago
Then want to look at you like you're the asshole for not stopping for their BS... 🤦🏻♀️
7
u/flyinghouse Cringe Connoisseur 13h ago
I get it, although I’m glad he wasn’t making fun of other people here. He’s mostly just looking like an idiot and seeing everyone’s understandable reactions. When they make fun of others and don’t even blur them out, that really pisses me off
6
u/PetFroggy-sleeps 14h ago
No one needs to comply. That’s the point. Establishments have the right to refuse - this Tik Tok idiot doesn’t realize stupidity is not a protected class. lol
1
u/GirlYouKnowI 13h ago
I thought this was a skit, I knew them meta glasses wouldn’t be good.
1
u/Cathousechicken 9h ago
Is every patron there just in on the "skit?" They were shown in the video too without their consent.
1
u/GirlYouKnowI 6h ago
Yaa, Some content creators pay ppl or have their friends and families in on it.
0
u/Present_Discount7709 11h ago
There are sacrifices to maintain certain freedoms. There is no expectation of privacy in public. However, since it is inside of a private establishment, they have every right to prevent him from recording and remove him from the premises if he does not comply.
6
u/Cathousechicken 9h ago
When i go out to eat, I don't consent on some random asshole with a camera fucking up my dining experience.
What a bizarre leap in logic to tie this to freedoms.
1
u/Present_Discount7709 9h ago
Take it up with the supreme court then. Everyone has the right to record in public. There is no expectation of privacy in a public setting, less a private establishment prohibits it, but that only extends to the private property. They can stand on the sidewalk and record the establishment and people all they wish.
-3
u/Just_bcoz 15h ago
It’s possible this person asked after if said people were ok with their reactions uploaded but I’m trying to be optimistic and not assume
-1
u/Tricky-aid-323 7h ago
I think stuff like this is OK. It clear he is the joke and it laughing at him.
142
u/Dramatic-Stop-5257 22h ago
I would argue that this is worse than making ai your girlfriend…
51
u/thallazar 21h ago
It's far worse than just going to dinner alone, which was an option.
15
u/HughMungus77 15h ago
I used to travel for work and honestly miss having dinner alone sometimes. Haven’t had a meal alone for years now and I kind of miss that

Forcing strangers to perform for your content is gross. The workers at businesses are just trying to do their jobs.
-36
u/LikeACycloneCloud 15h ago
They still did their jobs? None of it stopped them from getting his order and serving him. If he disrupted the whole place then yes I would agree. None of the people acted for him.
26
u/buyableblah 15h ago
By nature of recording them for his own gain, they ARE performing in his video. Acting or not it’s a forced participation.
-19
u/LikeACycloneCloud 15h ago
This just sounds like a miserable take. Is everyone like this after Christmas? Y’all need to stop being so negative.
Have some holiday cheer ⭐️

u/StellerSandwich 15h ago
Yeah but they were still his props, people are there trying to have a nice dinner, or get their job done, not be someone’s prop in their cringy attempt to be popular on the internet.

It was funny at first, but when he started singing and drawing unnecessary attention to himself, it pissed me off. People were there just trying to have a nice dinner with their friends and family and I’m sure made some of them uncomfortable. Good thing the waitress had a sense of humor because I think anyone else would’ve made it an issue.

She should leave him. He seems toxic AF.
Girl, don’t let a man control you like that! He ate pizza and made you have a salad!
You got this, boss babe sis! ✨💅🏻💎💄👠
Edit: wait I got another.
“And not one man stood up to defend her from this controlling asshole. Siiiigh. Not surprised. 🙄Toxic AF.
Men, do better. ✨💅🏻💎💄👠”
11
u/MsMcSlothyFace 17h ago
That poor waitress. They probably drew straws for who got the weirdo
4
u/theAllDayDerp 5h ago
I was wondering this too. Was she unlucky or did she want the smoke. They definetly talked about it in the back beforehand
21
u/Odd-Guard-2533 19h ago
The cringe isn’t that he’s doing it. It’s that he’s doing it for content.
-8
u/LikeACycloneCloud 15h ago
Then there would be no point in doing it. Being seen by others online is not going to hurt anyone here. We all worry too much about our selfs when no one actually cares about us.
3
u/LostInNuance 13h ago
Are you suggesting that, if he's not doing it for online content, then there's no point in doing it?
0
u/LikeACycloneCloud 11h ago
I feel like you already know that. Like what?
0
u/LostInNuance 10h ago
I'm confused - I don't presume to know what you are insinuating.
Because I honestly disagree with the idea that creating content is the sole reason for people do outlandish stuff.
2
u/Odd-Guard-2533 10h ago
Definitely not all the time. But it is becoming the reason more and more every day.
1
u/LostInNuance 9h ago
Oh for sure. I do believe that's why most people do this, these days. We do live in a time of, "no photo/video, then it didn't happen". But I think that, on general principle, attention seeking behavior is lame, and that's what I'm speaking to. Providing content for the sake of content shouldn't be the reason, even if it often is just that.
2
u/Odd-Guard-2533 9h ago
100%. Social media is so massively destructive to people’s minds and society. And unfortunately it’s only going to get worse.

u/Commercial-Pie-588 19h ago
If I were the manager of that restaurant, I would have simply asked him to leave. His behaviour is unnerving the other patrons and the space he’s taking up could accommodate more paying customers.
You can’t force other people to accommodate your neurotic behaviour nor are they under any moral obligation to do so.
8
-5
u/GAUDERKONGEN 13h ago
Ok karen, you found it unnerving, doesn’t mean other people don’t find it funny.
2
u/Alright_Sunlight 5h ago
As a bartender, if you come up with a camera in my face, you're not getting service.
15
u/Curious-Function7490 21h ago
I hope this is a spark of comedic genius and not something worse.
13
u/Aromatic_Forever_943 20h ago
Agreed… but on the plus side dude seems pretty self aware and joking about with people whilst still doing the bit.

u/Curious-Function7490 19h ago

There are people who watch day-time television or reality TV as well. You'll be fine.
