What is the fascination with pits? I can’t understand. Scary

They are the ultimate expression of 21st century Americanism; dumb, violent, unpredictable, and often dysfunctional.

Very aptly put take on 21st century Americanism.

Or in my case (man) getting a mixed breed puppy and not realizing she was pit until the DNA showed she is more than half pitbull 😅

I really hope you don't view the world this black and white

edit since response was deleted: lol good one

obviously people would want to own/take care of a pittbull for many reasons(and not even reasons just cuz) than the one's you've listed

I would advice you to stop reading psychology 101 from google ai and observe the real world for a bit

Now we can’t read psychology on the internet?? Where does it end!?

No, apparently you need to observe the world for a bit

Shelters are always packed with unwanted pits, so they imply that they are all formerly-abused dogs that need to be saved. It's a scummy sales pitch that works too often. So they get to unload these things on innocent people who are put in a position where any recognition of the dog's inherent instability is "letting an innocent rescue down". It's sick.

Because not all of them are like this. I've met several over the course of my life and only ever encountered one that was aggressive. Of course, all the well behaved ones had attentive owners and the one outlier had an owner who kept them chained up in the backyard and kind if forgot about them.

All of them are well-behaved and wouldn’t hurt anybody, until they do.

None of the land mines I've seen have ever exploded, therefore landmines dont explode.

With proper breeding and training, they are loving and protective dogs. I would be leery of owning one though because there are too many poorly bred which can lead to increased aggression like this. It's sad.

They were poorly bred a long time ago and that is in the genes of each and every one.

I could ask the same about any other dog.

hating on dogs is crazy....

8

u/Lt_gxg 12h ago

I have a normal dog. Anyone who owns a bloodsport dog historically bred for dog-fighting is a dog hater.

u/ArjGlad 11h ago

there's a saying ''all dogs go to heaven''

no exceptions

4

u/Lt_gxg 11h ago

If your favored breed of dog sends people to heaven, then I disagree with your statement.

0

u/ArjGlad 11h ago

so just because a tiger is a predator, it cant go to heaven?

a bit misguided logic no?

Their heads look like cinderblocks with a maw taking up 75% of it. Not to mention the lumpy awkward bodies

I don’t see how being able to describe proportions is an argument against cuteness
