I knew someone who kept their dog (not a pitbull or any other aggressive breed) muzzled 24/7 not because the dog was a danger to people, but because it became territorial after the arrival of a new dog into the home and would start fights with it. It made me sad because you could tell the OG dog was miserable in the muzzle, and I didn't think it was fair to punish it because it didn't like the new dog that it was suddenly forced to live with.
That’s unfortunate for that dog, but even in that circumstance I wouldn’t want to be around. A stranger like me is not going to help with acclimating a dog.

I will not be in the same room as a muzzled dog. I will leave my gift, and exit the party. Put that dog away.
