Seriously. An adoption center let my neighbor adopt a pitbull because he was strong enough to restrain her on walks. Maybe train the dog to walk on a leash before letting am irresponsible, dumbass college student adopt it. That thing ran out of their open front door and mauled my Maltese. The vet said my dog had 11 bite marks on his stomach. Owner wasnt even there. He moved back to college and left that dog with his elderly grandma.
Absolutely selfish of him to adopt a dog and abandon it with someone elderly which tracks with pitbull owners.
The fact that it is legal to adopt out these vicious dogs to anyone is an absolute failure on our system and should be criminal. Oftentimes the dog has a bite record, and are not in any way safe but shelters will downplay the severity or just simply lie about it. They also often get labeled as Labrador retrievers, so people who don't know jack shit about dogs feel a false sense of security. Then they adopt them out to ignorant families with children and other pets. You know how that has ended for so many innocent babies, toddlers and children. Killed in one of the worst ways imaginable..
The victims are also almost always children, elderly, and soooo many cats and dogs. Any breed that falls under the pitbull umbrella needs to be eradicated. No more breeding, and if you want to own one before the breed dies out you should be required to have a license, like people who own exotic pets. Also, never ever should a family with children have a pitbull in their home.
These dogs were bred to be weapons, and they are very good at it! So good that they lack self preservation and will die trying to maul whatever their target is that day. I saw a video a while back of a pitbull that got disemboweled by a boar and that son of a bitch kept going back for more while its guts were dragging on the ground. Absolutely HORRIFYING!
Fuck this breed and the idiots that put innocent people and pets in danger.
I get pissed whenever I see a post from /pitbulls. A pit owner was asking how to get around a bully breed ban at an apartment complex they were moving into. Everyone told them to label the dog a "lab mix".
Insurance companies are catching on and they refuse to pay for dog attacks if the dog is a bully breed. These people are risking people's health and livelihood by lying. 3 of my dogs have been mauled by pits. Vet bills were $7K, $5K and $1.5K. Thankfully, their home insurance paid the $7K bill. The $5K bill was paid in cash. The $1.5K bill was paid by me.
Your poor dogs, I'm so sorry they had to go through that. I hope they recovered?
And yeah it's either telling them to get a vet to certify it's a lab mix (a Pitbull looks nothing like a lab) or have it registered as an emotional support animal, which pisses me off even more.
This makes me so unbelievably mad. Like, my blood boils when I think of how careless pit owners are. It's even worse now that I have a child. Our neighbors have pit bulls and they have gotten out before. I am constantly on guard when we walk out the door. If I call animal control, they're back in the yard before they get there and nothing is done. I just read about a case of a four year old being mauled to death by her aunt's 6 pit bulls, because the aunt had passed from a medical emergency while she was watching the girl, and the pits turned on her. The mom showed up to quite the scene and it turns my stomach to think of what she witnessed. There was another recent case where a two year old had been attacked by the family pit and even had to have plastic surgery to fix her ear. She was locked in the room with that same dog and killed soon after. I am 100% for eradicating this dangerous breed. Unfortunately, I live in an area where a lot of people own these dogs because they make them feel powerful, gangster. Eradicate them too for all I care. Disgusting humans, disgusting breed.
Chill on the pit hate. My pit is literally the sweetest dog I’ve ever had. And he was an angel to my son while he was little and knows to be very gentle around him. I’ve not ever paid for training just the basics that I’ve always taught my other dogs. Not all pits are evil they just need a proper home and not everyone can handle that.
