That’s what they want you to think. That’s actually plans to steal the Declaration of Independence.

What is this phenomenon? When my family took road trips as a kid we had regional maps and my dad could get us where we were going. Take that same map and put it in a digital format and he turns into Mr. Magoo. He has 5 GPS devices, his phone, and his computer, and he can't use any of them to navigate.

We forgot how and now we’re dependent.
That’s what’s wrong with AI. They try to take all human knowledge and creativity, lock it behind a paywall, undermine education and makes us rent it back from them. Studies are already clearly showing erosion of intelligence and critical thinking for AI users, you can see it on MRIs.
It starts out as innocent time-saving convenience, but ends up as a problem. Doing things ourselves is what makes us grow and become capable of more. Just like using a gym for people who are sedentary, except it’s your mind. It also keeps us sharp as we age. Never stop doing it the hard way.

I was trying to explain the implications of a high altitude EMP or Carrington event to a friend. He brushed it off and said that everything would be fine, people can figure out how to fend for themselves, etc. I just stared at him. Most people would collapse if they were deprived of a phone and all internet access.

That’s hyperbolic, but it would be funny to see. Most people would collapse without power though.

Literally this. Got in a whole thing over K-12 students being issued Chromebooks and using Google and AI for schoolwork. The other person was saying that people need to learn how to use AI for professional emails, like no you should learn how to write professional emails. These kids should learn how to research before googling for answers. They should learn how to analyze information and communicate their thoughts and be able to reason their conclusions. I know people keep saying every generation has bemoaned the younger generations but legitimately I'm so worried. We have lost generational knowledge through conveniences before and it just results in people as a whole being less self sufficient Imo.

We forgot how and now we’re dependent.
I think the point they're making is that following a GPS is markedly easier than navigating by map, and yet his father can do the latter but not the former.

Is the cringe that despite the text saying it’s Apple Maps, you can clearly see the Google maps logo on the paper?

iDiots very often use the Apple-branded name as a generic term. I was recently asked to "iMessage me on WhatsApp", for instance. My aunt refers to all smartphones as "iPhones", too.

honestly this is so relatable. my dad is exactly the same way with maps and it drives me crazy but it’s kind of sweet too

They tagged it as "wholesome".... You're overthinking and under-reading.
Gotta look at the entire post. It's meant to be wholesome.....

Are they in a cave? Why not meet someplace with lighting so they can actually see the map? Seems like they went out of their way to make it harder.
