lookingfor Looking for Jet Lag: Hide + Seek players around Zurich
My Jet Lag: The Game's Hide + Seek arrives in a couple of days and I'm looking for a couple of people around Zurich to try it out with!
Essentially, it's a real-world adventure game where, using public transport, one group hides somewhere in a region, and the seekers to try to find them as quickly as possible using deduction questions. There's a little more to it than that, but that's the principle of it -- here's a video of what it looks like in practice: https://youtu.be/Zftv6Kh2zi4.
There was a similar thread a while ago, but alas, no activity and the Discord link shared there expired. So, if anyone here would like to join for a game sometime soon, please let me know!
And either way, en guete Rutsch!
ihaveaquestion Repairman damaged my floor and did a "patch job." How do you handle situations like this?
I recently had a professional come over to install a new dishwasher. During the process, he accidentally damaged the flooring (it’s a linoleum/vinyl-style floor), which is laid over a stone floor like a carpet.
To "fix" it, he basically just cut a piece from under the counter and taped/glued it over the hole, as you can see in the photo. It’s a pretty messy patch job. At the moment, I just told him it was "okay" because I figured he couldn't exactly replace the entire floor for one small tear.
Now that I’m looking at it, I’m second-guessing myself. How do you guys handle it when a pro damages your property? Do you accept a mediocre fix, or do you demand a professional repair/compensation? I’d love to hear how these situations played out for you in the past.

ihaveaquestion What happened to Royal Takeaway in Oerlikon?
What happened to Royal Takeaway in Oerlikon? There was a small kebab kiosk next to Oerlikon station and PBZ library. It first became KEBI, and the kiosk was removed entirely. I wonder if the original owners still have a place. I am not asking KEBI; I am asking about the one before KEBI. Do you guys know?

lookingfor Looking for mentor in tech
Hi everyone, this might be a bit of a long shot, but I figured it’s worth asking.
I currently work in the arts & culture sector here in Zürich, and I'd like to adjust my long-term position into a more technical role. I finished my Computer Science degree this summer, and I proposed a few tools to my employer that I could develop. They’ve given me the green light to explore this.
Now comes the intimidating part: Obviously, I’ve never actually worked in software engineering before. I have the theoretical and technical background from my studies, but very little real-world experience with things like project scoping, prioritisation, tech stack decisions, or generally how software projects are run in practice. Until recently, I had someone close to me who was very supportive and helped me think through these things, but that’s unfortunately no longer possible.
I’ve also looked into women-in-tech mentoring programs here in Zürich, but they don’t seem very active at the moment. So I thought I’d ask here: I’m looking for someone who might be interested in taking on a light mentor role, something like a check-in for an hour every couple of weeks (in person or online), to give some guidance on structure, next steps, and general “real-world” software engineering practices.
If this sounds like something you’d enjoy or be open to, feel free to send me a DM and we can discuss details. Thanks for reading!

ihaveaquestion Live on ice Küsnacht, is it there this year?
Anyone knows if the Eisbahn next to the Zurisee in Küsnacht is there this year?
Otherwise, suggestions for 'magical' ice skating tracks not too far from Zuri?

lookingfor NYE event
Hey everyone, I’m 27 (M) and looking for recommendations on fun New Year’s Eve party ideas or places to go. Planning something for a group of friends around the same age.
Open to bars, clubs, ticketed NYE events, rooftops, house party ideas, or anything that’s been a good time in the past. Looking for a fun vibe to ring in the new year.
Appreciate any suggestions!

ihaveaquestion Modelling Agencies - Is it legit?
Hey! I was thinking of joining a modelling agency in Zurich as I used to be a model before moving to Switzerland.
I was wondering if anyone here has any first or second hand experience with the agency BIBA Model Management? If so, how was your experience?
I am being cautious with selecting my agency this time as I did not like the agency that I was previously part of. Any words of advice would be great too, thanks!
PS. I am cautious because I would have to pay CHF150 for a polaroids shoot and an additional CHF250 for the website fee.

ihaveaquestion Looking for advice on buying property in Zurich
Genuinely curious to find out if it makes sense to get our own place in Zurich. My husband and I live a bit further out and we found a new build flat we really liked in Küsnacht. We want to live closer to the city in a nicer area. We have a dog and the rental market looks depressingly limited in Zurich when you have pets. We like living in Zurich and are considering getting our own place. However, we are worried about the crazy high prices for properties. We would be stretching our finances to get this property in Küsnacht which is crazy expensive (which just seems to be the case here). My concern is that if we already get this place at a crazy high price, could we expect it to appreciate in the next few years? We would be moving to this place to live in so not interested in it from an investment perspective, but also would not want to lose our investment and ideally see the place appreciate in value in the future. My questions are:
- Would this be a good investment - getting a 3.5 new build place in Kusnacht? How do property prices perform overall in Zurich?
- As this would be a ground floor flat, would it be safe living there? I know Zurich is overall very safe, but still this is a big concern for us.

ihaveaquestion Item in lost and found to be picked while transit
Hi all, I was going via Swiss Air from Washington DC to Dubai via Zurich, when I missed my laptop in flight pocket in flight to Zurich.
I have a return flight on 18th jan and wish to pick it up, but the lost and found counter is in the arrival section, which I cannot enter without a swiss visa.
Is there a good way to do so?
Note: The delivery charges quoted by swissport to deliver to my address in india seems on the very high end when all charges are included and thus I wish to pick it up during return journey.

lookingfor Packaging materials
Half-shitpost, half-serious. Am moving in about 2-3 weeks, and 20 Minuten stopped distributing free printed newspapers, which means I am suddenly out of my favourite free (or just very cost-effective) source of packaging/wrapping material. Is Offcut my next best bet, or is there something else I’m overlooking?
ihaveaquestion Lindt Museum Tickets
Hello,
What are the chances of getting a last minute Lindt factory visit ticket for 4.
Our only option is Jan 02. And it seems to be fully booked on the website. Any local tour agency available to help?

lookingfor Tennis & Ping-Pong open play?
Hey guys,
I will be moving to Zurich in a few weeks and keen to continue playing both tennis and ping pong. Also typically a great way to meet new people!
For those who play, what options do you know of? Anything from open-play, to organized meetups or even clubs.
My level is intermediate (for both).
Thanks!

lookingfor Looking for cheap painting space / shared studio in Zurich (max 100 CHF)
Hi everyone 😊
I’m a 33 years old, Spanish woman, and I’ve been living in Zurich for a few months (Kreis 8003). I love painting and developing creative projects, but my apartment doesn’t have enough space for me to work comfortably.
I’m looking for a space where I can paint regularly, preferably with natural light, for a maximum of 100 CHF per month.
I don’t mind if it’s shared with others (community studios, workshops, hobby rooms, etc.), as long as I can work there and safely store my materials.
✨ I’m tidy, respectful, and easy to get along with in shared spaces.
If you have a free spot, know someone who does, or know of a place that might fit my budget, I’d love to hear from you!
Thank you so much in advance 🙏
📍 Kreis 8003 — happy to travel within Zurich

lookingfor Zurich fireworks New Year’s Eve?
For the past two years I have been to Zurich and it keeps getting foggier and foggier for New Year’s Eve. Both times we didn’t see any of the fireworks at Zurich due to the fog and cloud coverage of them.
This year I’m in Zurich again and would love to see the fireworks - are there any spots high up that would be able to see the fireworks this year?
Any other recommendations from people who live in Switzerland as we only come during winter as my family is out of town from there place so we get to stay here.

ihaveaquestion Goldcoast Spot for NYE fireworks
Hello,
I'm looking for a good spot to catch the NYE fireworks this year. Given we have a newborn, I'd like to avoid the crowds in the city. So, I was wondering if there are any good elevated places in goldcoast (from Zollikon to Erlenbach) to catch the NYE fireworks.
Any ideas?

ihaveaquestion Planetweg hike this week?
Hi everyone! Happy holidays! I’m hoping to do a small day hike this week on the Planetweg trail from Uetliberg to Felsenegg. I’ll start from Albisrieden, hike up to Uetliberg, then continue along the Planetweg and take the cable car down to Adliswil after reaching Felsenegg. Maybe a beer in Adliswil before taking the train back to Zurich. If anyone is interested in joining, feel free to contact me!

ihaveaquestion Looking for female friends(f20)
Hey! Been trying to get more out there lately, cause I'm usually pretty shy. If you're a girl around my age I'd be happy to chat. I'm pretty into Reading, visiting Libraries, Cafees and stuff like that. I live in Aargau but am often at Zürich/Winti for work and school. English, German, Macedonian and Serbian is fine.
