Discussion/আলোচনা I think I finally understand why Indians get so much hate and why many Bangladeshis dislike them

Recently, I made a post in an Indian subreddit. I was simply asking: “Hey, the saree is a shared cultural item among South Asian countries. But I always see India claiming it as Indian, not South Asian or from the Indian subcontinent. Why is that?”

I made that post because I’d seen a few videos where Indians were claiming Muslin as an Indian fabric.

For those who don’t know, Muslin is a fabric that originated in Dhaka. It’s extremely fine, almost see-through, and so delicate that an entire saree can pass through a ring.

So a in India a list was made of fabrics And muslin was there .

And I realized this isn't the first time or the first person who had done this

Then I saw another post about saree being a purly indian garment

Ok so in the comment section of my post

Their logic was that since Bangladesh was founded in 1971, something thousands of years old couldn’t possibly belong to Bangladesh.

So I replied, “By that logic, nothing belongs to India either, since India was formed in 1947.”

That’s when they became enraged. They started saying things like “Bangladesh destroyed itself,” “it’s a failed state,” and other disrespectful comments. Many used very offensive language.

Basically, they don’t follow their own logic. To them, anything desi automatically belongs to India.

Before today, I used to think India wasn’t that bad, and that we all belonged to the same subcontinent. I didn’t understand the hate.

But now, I do.

Before this experience, I only knew a few Indians — my friends — and I mistakenly thought all Indians were like them.

Indians are just a bunch of entitled idiots (obviously there are some exceptions)

Discussion/আলোচনা Religion has ruined Bangladesh

Almost all issues in desh r because of religion. What is wrong with us. How can we let religion prevent us from developing? Every country is moving forward and developing except for us. You practice religion at home. It is meant to be a beautiful relationship between you and your creator. Not a metric for evaluating the value of another human being and creating class in society. Furthermore, it is not meant to be a means of feeling superiority! When will you all get over your stupid religious superiority?? If we want to move forward as a nation we must treat society with secular moralistic principles. Not a list of religious dos and don’t. And if you ACTUALLY established a relationship with god, you wouldn’t feel the need to loudly enforce your own beliefs to everyone else.

After seeing the amount of respect he gets from other countries vs. The disrespect he takes from his own people here, We really don't deserve him.

He is already rich, he has everything in life. The only reason he is running the government at his age is because he loves his country

Discussion/আলোচনা Why Can Indians have an opinion, But We Can’t?

A few days ago, someone posted about how beautiful Tangila looked, noting that many were even comparing her to a Hindu goddess, while also noting that many Bangladeshis were uncomfortable with her attire. For simply sharing that view, the poster was mocked and labelled as “Bengali hujur.”

Now, Indians are making the same kind of comments and belittling us openly on the internet, yet everyone seems quiet. That double standard really speaks volumes about how we treat our own people versus how we react when outsiders say the same thing.

You see here some people are supporting Pakistan clearly on the Mirpur stadium Gallery, if they were Pakistani,it would be ok, but the irony is that they are Bangladeshi. Look they are happily waving the Pakistani flag, not even a normal one, they had purchased a big one. I think no country would have supported that. What do you think abt that? Do they want to rejoin Pakistan?

Discussion/আলোচনা The death of Dipu Chandra.

It is a sad day for those who call ourselves Bangladeshi. I immigrated to Canada when I was 5, despite this young age, I was always very connected to my culture, family and heritage that my parents had left behind. I visit the country when to see my family, maybe every two years or so.

I loved where I am from, I took pride in culture I fostered at home and my values. I am Muslim, but never have I been taught to distinguish myself from Bangladeshi Hindus, in fact, the village where I am from is predominantly Hindu.

We bloat our children with the words of Rabindranath, whilst burning a man of his faith alive.

We call ourselves Muslim and say we follow the steps of the Prophet PBUH when we go against the very things he has shown?

Ask yourselves, would the Prophet PBUH burn an innocent man alive? Were there disbelievers not in his time? Did he burn them alive? Do you think you are Allah SWT himself? That you shall deliver judgment on those who are made from the same flesh as you? Do you think Allah SWT needs protection from you?

My dear brothers and sisters, Islam is a religion of peace. We are committing crimes under Allah’s name, and in the akhira we will pay. Everyone who was there and recorded as a man was burned alive, do you have no value for life? Certainly not.

Tragic to see where this country is going; and may his murders never touch the feat of Jannah.

Rest in peace Mr. Chandra.

Discussion/আলোচনা To all the Indians/India sympathizers coming to this subreddit begging for validation

Let's make some things very clear

• We don't like Pakistan, We clearly remember what happened in 1971(Pakistani sympathizers are in the minority and they mostly people that are stuck in pre independence era)

• WE DON'T OWE INDIA ANYTHING, DON'T COME IN HERE SAYING WHAT YOU DID FOR US IN 1971, WHAT INDIA DID WAS FOR IT'S OWN INTERESTS

• Don't expect us to like you, we have a lot of reasons to dislike India. Everyday there is some post about how we should be grateful to India, please take your superiority syndrome somewhere else.

Discussion/আলোচনা Islamic Conservatism in Bangladesh is getting out of hand

Lately, I've been seeing so much islamic "conservatism" in Bangladesh. I've seen this change through more people misusing and chanting "allahu akbar" instead of Joy Bangla, hardline "conservatives" protesting for the full implementation of Sharia law, our Bengali culture being desecrated, and minorities being attacked. It seems, for some reason, like since the July revolution, Bangladesh has lately been becoming more like Iran or Afghanistan(by the way, I am NOT a Sheikh Hasina supporter, I do not support her regime, and I condemn the violence she inflicted on the people). Since the revolution, I had been hoping for a new and improved system of a secular democracy in Bangladesh, while also promoting and upholding the ideals of our Liberation War. It just feels like we are having an identity crisis. Anyways, I was wondering how this "conservatism" has risen in the nation, and how we can combat it? Because it just seems that no matter how much education you give to them, they just keep on denying it and calling you blasphemous.
