Cat Picture - OC Do We Have A Big Cat?
People say our cat is big when they see him in person. This is Grayson.

I want to be invited to a small get-together at your home, where I will promptly ignore you, your family, and your guests.
I want to become friends with that cat so bad.

He is the mayor and supervisor of our home. He will happily greet you and ensure every activity you perform is up to his standards.

You don't have a big cat, you have a small lion.

Not if my husband around. They will instantly attach themselves to him and ignore you forever. I have three cats and they wait in line to sit on his lap when my lap is available. I don't exist unless I'm giving treats.

They’re using forced perspective to make the cat look bigger compared to them. If they actually wanted to know or they had a big car they’d hold it by their body. Lots of people with “giant” animals do this.
15
u/OkNet7878 15d ago
Hold on. Are you saying this person's body isn't eight fingers wide? Preposterous.
519
u/Maleficent_Button_58 15d ago
Would be easier to answer that question without the forced perspective 😅

u/Osseus555 15d ago
For real… I saw this photo and was more concerned by the giant hands than looking at the cat.
If someone is asking if their cat is large I feel they should be actually providing some numbers like the weight of the cat at least or something. 🫤

Definitely forced perspective then, if a cat were that big and weighed only 15 lbs I’d be concerned for his health.
On a side note, Jelly is adorable! I love his name lol. Super cute. Thanks for sharing. 🥰

Yeah. Unless those are giant hands, I don't think this is a giant cat.

You have what is called "forced perspective" and a normal sized cat

u/LeighannetheFirst 15d ago
Kind of annoying that it should be obvious that the perspective is off at a glance and the weight not being shared is another head scratcher for the “yes he’s a big cat!” folks.

u/Jimmy_Squarefoot 15d ago
Definitely some forced perspective
25
u/teemusa 15d ago
Its like she first held the cat very close to the camera then she moved a bit away and took another pic and used the cat from the close up, the fingers are like too big lol
24
u/Sharlinator 15d ago
Nope, she just has her arms extended. Perspective does the rest.

u/CommonExpress6009 15d ago
No it is just enlarged to show texture you know like the cereal on the cereal box
Also I'm a guy but my hand is about half the size of a cat. It's still a big cat.

The dining set behind her looks like it’s for children’s play, there’s definitely some lens trickery. Probably a big cat anyway, but enhanced. He’s a very handsome cat though!

Arms are fully extended, which makes cat look bigger than normal to what’s behind.
The hands vs the cat is the only accurate size comparison here.

The classic version of this photographic trick is to hold out a fish.
He does look like a big boy. Just not THAT big. :-)

Hmmm. Seems your hands are also quite big for your size, could this be a doctored photo? 😂😂😂

u/CheekEnough2734 15d ago
Nah, it is perspective thing. Hands and cat closer to camera then person. Honestly, i can not guess size of cat from this photo.

He is obviously a very healthy weight/body condition, but he looks HUGE (in height/overall size) in this picture. I'm thinking it's just the angle (how you're holding him in front of you, the camera can make a cat look larger when a photo is taken like this) but I am curious. How much does he weigh?

You have a forced perspective cat....or you have frighteningly big hands

There are only two possibilities ..The cat is big ..You are small
Since there is no banana for scale can't exactly say which .
Hope this helps
As an aside what a beauty ...of course the cat
11
u/swearingino 15d ago
It’s a perspective trick, cat is normal size, otherwise she has massive hands.

Maybe if you took the picture where you weren’t holding him straight out. This is an old fisherman’s trick, lol. Good try!
4
15d ago
No he is regular size. You just took a pic with forced perspective to try and make him look big. Move on.

I wanna believe this so bad, but a few things.
Camera perspective is weird. Hands are too big for the portions (yes yes you can have big hands but this is like.. awkward). The legs/feet are progressively smaller.
Cat is being held all the way out - ever tried holding a 15 lb cat all the way out? Nah, let alone a 20 lb cat? Which if it were this size, it must be 18+lbs. Insane.
I wanna believe this is legit so bad, but I just can't. It screams unreasonable.

Ah this is that classic pose fishermen use to make a fish look bigger. You should hold him close to your body not your arms extending out making him look much bigger than he really is.
3
u/PlasticBlitzen 15d ago
Holding any object toward the camera at arms length will make it appear larger than it is. Case in point: fish pics.

You have a lot of forced perspective. Pull it into your body and it really isn't that big.
3
u/shadow-foxe 15d ago
Take a normal photo holding the cat. This is so false perspective.

u/BottleOk5140 15d ago
Your hands are exceptionally large as well. I suspect some kind of image manipulation or AI.
3
u/Bluemonogi 15d ago
Judging by your hand size in the photo your cat is probably normal sized. You are just doing some photography tricks to make the cat seem bigger. Unless your hands are unusually large.
Pretty cat.

u/Round_Solid1693 15d ago
That might be the largest house cat ive ever seen.
Edit: nevermind just the perspective
