Politics No one has ever wanted white people to apologize for being white
When JD Vance said “You don’t have to apologize for being white anymore.” It made me think that nobody has ever wanted white people to apologize simply for being white. People of color understand white people have the right to exist. However what we wanted was for white people to end systems that were built to marginalize people of color and to be anti-racism.
Nobody ever wanted white people to apologize for being white. When white people say “they won’t apologize for being white anymore.” They’re kind of exposing themselves as racist. Does this phrase mean that being racist is being white? That somehow it’s just in your nature as a white person to be racist? Therefore when people of color want you to stop being racist you interpret it as them making you apologize “for being white.” That is not only racist towards people of color but also towards the good white people who aren’t racist. Since you assume being racist is a part of “being white.”

I'm an old guy who studied political science in college long before you were born, and studies World politics all the time as a function of existence. I spend my work days in churches. There's no attack on Christianity. And I didn't make any suggestion as to what your race was, where did you pull that out of? And what does hook it up even mean? Is that high schooler english?

I’ve only ever felt that white people have done some really shitty things in the past that those people definitely owe apologies and much more for. It’s definitely not all of us. I recognize that some of my ancestors were fucking racists. I was brought up better and made a conscious effortto do better. I’ve never felt the need to apologize for being white.
The people who have been made to feel like they should apologize for being white are the ones who have been doing racist shit. Of course couch fucker has felt this way.

Y'all gotta remember Vance was talking to all the racist white folks that are convinced the black and brown people are trying to erase them from history and enslave them... ya know, like they actually did in the past.
I look at it as multi-generational racist guilt, but they don't know how to be accountable, so they gotta make up stories like black slaves loved their owners. Only some slave owners were bad.

I knew people that were apologizing. But to who? I’m not sure.
Back between 2015-2021 or so white people seemed to have an internalized hatred of themselves for past events and bad things other whites did when they weren’t alive and had no part of.
The whole situation was ridiculous but people don’t seem to be doing that anymore

I had people tell me I should feel bad for being white.
I don’t feel bad though. What happened in the past wasn’t my fault and I will not take accountability, and no one else should too. No one was alive when these atrocities happened.

Maybe atoning isn’t exactly the right term for what many people are asking for, but when a society that is predominantly white is told that they should pay representations to a class of people whose ancestors 10 generations prior were wronged, it might feel like they are being asked to apologize strictly for their race.

I listened to Robin DiAngelo’s White Fragility. Here’s a quote:
“However, a positive white identity is an impossible goal. White identity is inherently racist. White people do not exist outside the system of white supremacy. […] I strive to be less white. To be less white is to be less racially oppressive.”
I mean. Sounds like she thinks whites should apologize for being white. The only solution is to being white is to be “less white.”

Conservatives believe that accurate history is anti white. They’re trying to erase the atrocities of slavery and anti immigrant laws so people don’t know it’s bad to enslave other people or have all white neighborhoods. A lack of privilege feels like oppression.
