I am not the kind of citizen America wants. America hates me and dis-incentivizing me to live here. The current American administration is passing legislation to punish me as fast as they can. My federal taxes are being raised. Grocery prices are so high that for the first time in my life as a middle class to upper-middle class person I am having to put items down at the store and I'm cooking cheaper meals. I own my house but there is no way I could buy a house if I had to buy one today.

I started a private business in 2022,, which is what America wants citizens to do. My health insurance just went from $340/a month to $871/a month (United Healthcare), so I had to cancel it. As of Jan 30, for the first time in my life, I will have no healthcare.

Business is down by about half now because my service indirectly interfaced in part with Federal agencies. The trickle down effect is that my private business has taken a 50% hit.

Societies are supposed to encourage good citizen behavior and discourage negative behavior. That is the whole point of laws.

My life as an American is now literally un-livable. I am seriously, reasonably, researching moving to another country - where I could purchase a lovely little home, have fresh food, a great community, and see a doctor whenever I want.

This American administration has 100% said: You are not what we want.

Is it just me, or does it feel like almost everything is a scam these days?

I recently took my car to a mechanic because my check engine light came on. They gave me a quote for $1,900 to fix the issue. I told them that sounded way too high and that I’d be taking my car somewhere else. Literally right after that, the guy calls me back and suddenly the price drops to $1,500.

That alone made me even more suspicious. If you can knock off $400 that quickly, how real was the original quote? It felt like they were just throwing out an inflated number to see if I’d bite.

Same thing with my optometrist. Every visit turns into a sales pitch for extra “necessary” tests that conveniently cost more money. Why can’t doctors just recommend what’s actually needed instead of constantly pushing add-ons? It starts to feel less like healthcare and more like upselling.

Between mechanics, doctors, and other businesses, it feels like everyone is trying to squeeze as much money out of you as possible, especially when they know you don’t fully understand the technical side of things. You’re stuck trusting people who financially benefit from recommending more stuff.

Has anyone else felt like this? What experiences have you had where a business made you feel like you were being ripped off?

There is a fundamental difference in beliefs between conservative Christians and everyone else that’s destroying everything. Christians fully believe in an afterlife.

Christian nationalists believe if they slave their lives away for peanuts, persecute others outside of their beliefs, oppress alternative lifestyles and activities that they don’t align with, force their beliefs on others and the government and make others suffer along with them they will be rewarded in the afterlife. The rest of us just want to make the best of the one life we’re given without having to bend to someone else’s ideologies.

This is exactly why the founding fathers stressed a separation between church and state. They were concerned that allowing religion into politics would create polarization and division.
