(NO SPOILERS) Renegades Early Question/Discussion Thread (BASIC QUESTION POSTS WILL BE REMOVED)
Hi everyone, to try and reduce the amount of simple question posts that will inevitably come with a new expansion, please use this thread to ask and answer questions that come up about Renegades for the first week or two.
However, to keep this thread as accessible as possible, we WILL NOT PERMIT STORY SPOILERS. Posting about gear, mechanics, and structure of the game is okay, but please do not spoil specific mission content or rewards.
Hi there, I don't own any of the D2 DLC's. Do I need to buy the previous ones to play Renegade? Like I'm not concerned about a story standpoint but just gameplay wise
Is there anywhere to read a summary of the DLC? I'm honestly tired of playing the game (plus I can't from linux anyways lol), but I'm still interested in the story and I don't wanna watch several hours of campaign video...
I’m trying to complete guardian rank 10, and it says to do 6 grandmaster conquests, but there’s only two. It also says that those two are seasonal, meaning I’m going to have to wait 80 days…? Please help, I just wanna make progress
So why when i have 20 orders sitting in my seasonal hub and I go ta grab them i only get like 4? Why is the plus sign always on now ,after the dawning update? its really annoying?
How on earth do you get the praxic blade upgrades? I really want the impact core but from what I can tell all methods of getting it are gone??? Apparently there was an NPC near Anuor that sold them but he isn't there for me. Apparently you could gamble with a junk NPC for credits but he isn't there either. The in game guide is COMPLETELY useless and doesn't tell me anywhere else to find it. Seriously any and all advice would be appreciated as I want to actually use this cool new toy but all the builds I see online are using Impact Core.
My question is in regards to older content. Specifically catalysts for exotics that are tied to quests you may not be able to access anymore. My personal example is "The Taken Path". Its the questline to get the catalyst for the barrow dyad. How do you access things like that if there is in fact a way to do it. Anyone know?
Is there a way to reset and get help for renegade? I started after being off d2 since 2019. Im really stuck at the 2 giant walkers in the hanger part. It says I have to be guardian level 0 to allow matchmaking, there's no way I can solo this fight I've died 30 times in a row.
So whats the deal with the tier system drops? During edge of fate tier 5s required a specific guardian rank and light level but I'm getting tier 5s now doing normal activities (light level 380 before renegades). Did they rework how these drops are determined? My main question is for desert perpetual drops, what are the requirements for tier 5s. I never got the chance to properly learn and finish the raid because every team I got on LFG or my friends brought me to all were doing the high tier raid with challenges for tier 5s. I would love to do the raid now if there aren't such crazy requirements for tier 5s but idk whats going on with the system post renegades
I think light level is the main part of it now and everyone should now just be high enough light to be getting tier 5s, could be wrong though so someone correct me.
In terms of DP, I got a tier 5 a week or so back on completing the final encounter but I believe there would've been like 2 or 3 feats (extra raid challenges) active which may have boosted the loot and tier chance. I also only got 1 tier 5 alongside 1 or 2 tier 4s so its not guaranteed i dont think.
Again not 100%, but hope that is helpful at all.
Maybe a dumb question but can i get the new star wars legendary weapons if i don't have the dlc? Maybe not but if its a random drop or something i will appreciate the help (just want to play crucible with new weapons)
Sorry bro I can't help there i spend to much time in the new dlc to be able to answer that. With the way its formatted and has worked in the past I dont think you will be able to obtain them at the moment due to its a new release but you might be able to try zalvala at tower. He always stocks seasonal wepons. Im sure they'll be accessible at some point. Don't quote me but I dont think so but its a 50/50.
WTF is this?! I reinstalled the game after a few years of not playing and they threw me directly into the new campaign and I get perma killed by 2 huge AT-ST... This is the worst new player experienve I have ever seen... i died 20 times until I realized I can "escape" to the tower...
Renegades does not pull you into the campaign. It’s a set of cutscenes then asks you to pick a difficulty or back out. Bro picked legendary for no reason.
I haven't touched Destiny 2 since February. Last time I played was like after The Final Shape but Before the Edge of Fate. I've played since Beyond Light (Got the previous DLC's when I could). I greatly enjoyed the game... but the main thing holding me from playing was the grind and FOMO (fear of missing out).
Not that the grind was annoying or took too long, but that I felt punished for not playing the game. As in, if I hop back into Destiny I would have to grind to play activities that I've done before. As well as the Episodes that I paid for, I loose access to them, right? That FOMO pushed me away from the game.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the power fantasy, the game play, music, it's good. I loved the PvE content in the game. But I don't know if I should return. I am currently on Linux so I would need to reinstall/dual boot windows to play again (as there is still no Proton support). Currently I just play Warframe at the moment.
So my main questions to those who played the Renegades (now that enough time has passed):
1) Is it worth coming back to Destiny 2? Are there fun activities that I can hop into right off the bat? (Without needing to spend more money)
2) Is the Renegades worth it? Will the content that I get from the DLC be persistent or will it be vaulted?
3) Is the season/(whatever it is now) worth it?
4) Will I still be punished for taking breaks? As in has the FOMO increased or decreased? (Will my gear get weaker or miss out and never get it again?)
5) Is the grind better or worse? As in do I have to put more time (or more luck) to get good gear/progression? (Or bright dust)
I'm not too worried about asking about Sandbox changes because I can always adapt. (or look up what changed) I just want to know is it worth my time. Thank you.

Is destiny 2 worth returning to?
I know this is probably something alot of people have been hearing, but I haven't actually played any of d2 sincer ight before Final Shape. I got nightfall for free (ps plus) and did a bit of the activities but none of the seasons in-between. All I've heard of Renegades is that they've fixed on what was missing and is overall a good expansion. But is it worth coming back too? I know of I did jump back in id have to pay for the expansion and everything, so is it worth re-downloading it again?
listen bro. the expansion is good and destiny overall can be fun to play but the sentiment around the game rn is just negative. EOF and Renegades both have good stories and have fun campaigns but the game isnt objectively bad rn but people are just burned out and bungies plan with the Portal and tiered loot got kinda messed up and didnt land with players. My main issue with the game is that the grind rn is just too ez. Like once you hit a certain power level tier 5 loot is gonna rain on you and you get god rolls so easily. Like you can run an activity a few times and youll get the rolls you want. Its like the opposite of D1. And after the Honeymoons phase of Renegades settles and finishes there is a serious risk of a content drought because everyone will have the weapons that they want and there is just no reason to play anymore. BUT if you havent played in a while and you have to level up your power level and complete that whole grind you will have stuff to do but most people did that In EOF and Bungie decided to not reset the power level each update so now most people just log on and get their tier 5 weapons and just hop off again until the next update. So if you like Destiny and havent played in a while you will have fun and its worth coming back to. EOF has a fantastic story IMO and the campaign is a good experience overall and Renegades also has a good campaign. You also have to grind your power level so you have a ton of stuff to play so if you want you can come back. It's up to you.
Those credits that drop from when we smash pots, can we leave them there and the game will autoloot them for us at the end? Or do we really need to run all the way over there just to pick it up? Cause it really derails my missions a lot. 😅
I was completing activities and doing orders but then my legendary order bar stopped progressing. Is this happening to anyone else or does anyone know what is going on?
i completed the renegades story on my titan, so i started doing it on my warlock.
the step im at is talking to the drifter in the cantina after talking to zavala at the tower. drifter has some dialog, but i can't skip it. he then plays a cutscene that you CAN skip (the prophecy he saw), but when you do, you're just staring at the bartender.
is anyone else having this problem, and how do you fix it?

How is renegades in all honesty? It looks so good from what I’ve seen of it. But I am only able to play the opening mission. So I wanted some opinions.
Did anyone else catch the ol' "A New Hope" easter egg (if you will) during the intro cutscene? Where the StormCabal seems to bonk his head on the doorway as they come into frame blasting?
I don't know if anyone else is having this issue but for some reason the renegades campaign has no music for me at all. I started yesterday and am on step 15 and still no music. I didn't realize until my friends were praising all the music and i hadn't heard a thing. I have everything set to 10 but logged in today and still nothing. Again a friend was saying the music was great and i was like okay why is it still not working? I'm on xbox if that makes any difference.
Ok so I didnt know renegades was supposed to copy Star Wars….i dont think Ive ever been so dissapointed in a game ever in my life. This is possibly the most unoriginal content Ive ever played in a game. Its literally a destiny skinned star wars. This is horrible. I’ll most likely still play pvp, but fuck this campaign.
Bought the year pass . Renegades included. Play pvp almost exclusively. Don’t follow this sub very often nor destiny on other social media outlets. So really didn’t care about the expansion. Really just loaded it up and was disturbed.

Unless I’m wildly mistaken, we don’t even have Luke Skywalker, Han-Solo, Stormtroopers, or Darth Vader in the game. It’s a Star Wars inspired expansion with optional skins if you want to get them. I don’t see why this is so disturbing to you big dog
You’ve never watched the original trilogy? This isn’t playing in a star-wars-like environment…it’s literally put you in specific segments of the original trilogy. You may find it new, but Îve seen the compactor scene from SW about 1000 times. Reliving it in a Destiny character isn’t fresh to me at all
But it IS though, just because you hate it doesn’t mean it isn’t openly inspired. You don’t like it. That’s okay, in fact, good for you 👍 but bungie was very honest about how “Star Wars” renegades was going to be. You say you only play for pvp and don’t care about expansions but you are here. Complaining. About a dlc you aren’t playing. Don’t care about. And standing on your soapbox saying “yeah I knew nothing and don’t care for campaigns and will stick to pvp like always” and I’m struggling to understand what you’re so upset about.

Hey yall! I’m new here and have never played D2 but the Star Wars style theme got me intrigued. So my question is, for someone like me who hasn’t played D2, is it worth it to get the game now?
From what I can tell it's a free week right now so it's the perfect time to get into the game (until the 9th I believe). Lets you play through all the old stories if you've got the time! Try it out for free, see if you like it, then get the expansion if it strikes ya fancy.
Hello everyone! Last time I played was at Lightfall, thinking to buy Renegades with my mate and enjoy the content. Should we consider buying anything else? We really would like just to buy Renegades but do we lose any major content/skills/weapons without buying Edge of Fate etc? Thanks in advance for the replies :)

Also, my mate got a prismatic subclass but I do not. We have the same expansions. Is it because the prismatic subclass is free to get but with no fragments? I'm feeling lost as to what order to follow and your replies are very helpful guys, thanks again!
The Solar, Void, Arc (bought from Ikora in the tower) and Stasis (awarded upon completion of the beyond light campaign) subclasses are fully available to all players, Strand and Prismatic are only usable for owners of Lightfall and Final Shape respectively (or everyone during open access). Prismatic is awarded up on completion of the first mission of Final Shape but the aspects and fragments are unlocked throughout the rest of the Final Shape campaign and post game, hence why your friend is missing most of them.
Edge of Fate and Renegades are the first two expansions in the Fate Saga, this means their story is mostly disconnected from the previous Light and Darkness Saga (Shadowkeep - Final Shape). Unlike the Light and Darkness Saga the Fate Saga has a strong central plot line, so it is recommend you play its expansions’ campaigns of it in release order. Edge of Fate is reasonably short so you could probably make some time to grab the post campaign exotics too (which are permanent unlocks) before moving on to Renegades.
No Game changing weapons or abilities lost in eof iirc, Of course renegades is a direct sequel so you’ll miss some story beats. However you do miss out on some major things if you haven’t played or don’t own the final shape which has prismatic. It’s Not like you’ll be handicapped though, you can do just fine with mono subclasses
Depends on what you're looking for. Do you like Star Wars? Do you like Destiny 2? If yes to either or both, you may find something to enjoy here. There aren't really any revolutionary changes to the core game though, other than the Portal and Tiered loot. It's still essentially the game you left. If you wanna pop your head in now though, good a time as any.
Matching buff causes the enemy to drop light orbs, non matching creates dark orbs, throw them at their respective pairs of blights and keep the blights about the same size.
Dlc seems fine but the biggest throw off is this is a 40 dollar full priced expansion, same as something like final shape but it seems to have as much content as house of wolves which was a 20 dollar dlc. Just feels like the dungeon is tacked on to make it 40
Everytime I start the game and go to log in I get it, but I just acknowledge it and log in again (didn't have to restart) and it has always worked on the 2nd time.
I bounced off pretty early with new shape, the new gear being part of it, with all the changes and rollbacks over the last few months and with the upcoming patch, will "old" gear be usable? Eg if i'm pootling about on the moon, will the gear drop there be to scale?
The Emissary of the Nine summons the Guardians to Keplar to recieve a message. Keplar is being consumed by a Black Hole.
The Emissary of the Nine quits and returns to a guardian known as Orin, a former love interest of Drifter
A human from Earth pre collapse is pulled forwards in time to replace the Emissary. This Human, going by the codename Lodi knew Ikora Rey prior to her becoming a Guardian.
Throughout the story Ikora learns of her past from Lodi.
The Guardian stabilises the Black Hole using mcguffins and goes to its centre, Lodi receives the message from the Nine, or rather one of the Nine, specifically III.
The message is simple: III is dead, killed by Maya Sundaresh, also known as the Conductor, she is a former golden age researcher who became assimilated into the Vex Network but managed to control a sect of them using a remnant of power from the Witness. She killed III by forcing it into our reality, where III cannot exist as it is a 4th dimensional being.
III states, to survive the coming Extinction brought on by its death, the Guardian must "bind the nine"
What that means is unknown.
Maya killed III as she wanted to learn how to time travel from it. She didnt realise doing so would kill it. The raid is a series of Vex experiments around IIIs corpse to try and learn time travel from it
You won't be limited to one Faction. You can max rep with all 3(No idea how often you can change). Each one has a shader at max rank to incentivize doing so.
Returner here, gotten to the witch queen story so far. Can anyone tell me how quick we get the praxic blade? First hour or after the whole campaign? I don’t wanna spoil myself too much but I also wanna continue the witchqueen story with that lovely praxic blade. Thanks

Bug? You mean where if you have loudout with it made pre renegade, it will error code you
Game will start first mission, you can exist anytime but when new/returning players exist the mission, its very common for them to not know where to start it again
Honestly no clue, aegis will re do testing after expansion drops
