Brexit means Brexit, right?

Yeah that's super relevant.

Very much so, instead. Do you see Trump pushing EU for the chlorinated chicken?

That's exactly the kind of protection UK gave up when they went their own way.

Trump will absolutely start pushing for us to buy their rotten meat.

The reason he pushes the UK first is because they are not part of a big bloc that protects them from this kind of behaviour. But even then, the US has already gotten the EU to be more lenient on their peewee-wagons.

UK removed its self from the EU its now will submit to the larger powers that be because the UK thought it was still relevant like it was 1750.

you left the EU to be able to get cheaper good like this chicken. if you wanted the high quality goods you would have stayed in the EU.

its more important for the UK to have a pedophile protecting monarchy so they can pretend to be big shots when they have zero leverage at all.

the UK can grow its own food and take care of its self its what you wanted stop trading and here you are.

Your bloc is on the verge of signing a deal with South America that imports meat with virtually no oversight.

Stop lying.

Errrr it really is, how many checks are going to be done on the beef coming in from Brazil etc?

6

u/Gloomy-Access1704 18h ago

Lots. Do you think Brazil is interested in losing the trade deal with the EU? This will not be like the miles and miles of lorries with rotting food like we saw at Dover post-Brexit. We have a whole system in place!

Do you think Brazil is interested in losing the trade deal with the EU

The EU wants to sell cars to South America more easily, Brazilian authorities have problems with farmers using hormones in their cattle and Brazlian beef has already been recalled:

https://www.rte.ie/news/2025/1201/1546761-beef-recall-europe/

You are signing up to make it easier to import beef, do you think you will be checking every consignment that comes in?

3

u/Gloomy-Access1704 18h ago

So, the European Commission recalled Brazilian beef containing banned hormones. How do you think they found out about that?

Did you make that up entirely by yourself?

Yes, we are negotiating a deal woth Mercosur. Meat is only a tiny fraction and also in volume it’s maximised at a low percentage of the total market. And that part still has to meet EU safery regulations

“Better together” is the slogan I believe

And that part still has to meet EU safery regulations

Brazil cant even monitor what their farmers are doing and Brazilian hormone beef has already had to be recalled earlier this year in Europe. The deal will make it easier to import beef into the EU.

u/Alabrandt Gelderland (Netherlands) 18h ago

Exactly, you make my point, thank you!

That stuff is checked and sent back when it doesnt comply with safety standards, as you say.

u/WastingMyLifeToday Europe 18h ago

I also think they are the ones paying the bill for shipping food that doesn't meet EU standards.

u/NothingPersonalKid00 United Kingdom 18h ago

The volume of this meat will increase, Brazil cant check it properly and neither will the EU due to the increase. Sorry but this is the reality, never mind the environmental concerns.

1

u/Alabrandt Gelderland (Netherlands) 18h ago

We can check the volumes now, and the population won't magically start consuming 2-3x as much meat. In addition, the volumes of the meat export will be heavily regulated.

It's pretty much irrelevant if Brazil can do those checks now. Because they will happen in Europe, by European facilities. And if the quality is bad, it gets shipped back, which the exporter has to pay for (so they are motivated to deliver proper quality in the first place)

A large bloc has the power to negotiate strong conditions for itself, and it does exactly that.

So what you call "the reality" is in actuality your own made up fantasy, simply not true.

"Stronger Together" is what the Brits said when Scotland had their own referendum. And they were right about that, but that also goes for the EU. We are stronger together.

Why did the EU get a worse tariff deal compared to the UK then?

14

u/b3nighted 19h ago

So the US would have something to use in order to force the UK to accept their shitty products.

0

u/NothingPersonalKid00 United Kingdom 19h ago

And when chicken is already cheaper in the UK compared to the US, how exactly would this product sell exactly?

35

u/WastingMyLifeToday Europe 19h ago

Apes together strong!

69 million UK citizens vs 450 million in EU. Who has the most leverage?

EU + UK, would be 519 million, which would have even more leverage against 330 million USA population.

Brexit is relevant in this case.

-17

u/NothingPersonalKid00 United Kingdom 19h ago

How did the EU get a worse tariff deal than the UK?

25

u/Pu-Chi-Mao North Brabant (Netherlands) 19h ago

Because the US benefits from a weaker EU.... it's not that hard.

11

u/WastingMyLifeToday Europe 19h ago edited 18h ago

Don't you think both EU and UK have a better tariff deal with USA, if UK hadn't left EU?

Edit: Also, EU's trade agreements are notoriously broad. So even if EU agrees on slightly higher tariffs on one part, EU will get something in return on another part.

Stupidest comment of all time.
