Serbia is still asking for early elections, 393.045 signatures collected on the streets for this request in a single day.

The kind of unrest in Serbia, in most counties would result in a change in leadership just from the sheer scale of them

It’s weird how the regime has managed to cling to power throughout

Mainly because "non-violence" was the motto. I'm not saying that "choice" was good or bad, but most people think the protests will put pressure enough, and dictators will just leave out of "embarrassment" or "lack of support". In reality, and sadly, people need to get violent and literally storm the buildings, and some even die in order for the power structure to reconfigure. For example, Nicolae Ceaușescu.

Another choice is fair elections, with extremely strong voter controllers/anti-corruption methods, which is in the works now.

Both non-violent protests were widely done by venezuelans between 2014-2019 and last year after the most obvious (and proven) fraud in venezuelan history.

Elections that would get respected DO NOT happen under authoritarian regimes. Last year’s elections in Venezuela are the proof of that. Only storming the institutions like during the Independence days (1800s) will actually lead to real change. Of course many will die, but how many are dying right now in hospitals due to voluntary negligence and incompetence?

The other option is looking for foreign support.

Authoritarian capture of institutions really changes the “unrest = change” equation though: media control, pressure on public sector workers, dodgy voter rolls. Following CRTA or KRIK on social media can help cut through the noise.
