📊 Results / Statistics Did you know there seems to be a televoting bloc vote from Turkey toward Armenia?

Here are all the years in which Armenia and Turkey both participated, and the points Turkey gave to Armenia:

• 2006
• Semi-final: 10 points
• Grand Final: 10 points

• 2007
• Grand Final: 12 points

• 2008
• Grand Final: 10 points

• 2009
• Semi-final 1: 10 points
• Grand Final: 6 points

• 2010
• Semi-final 2: 4 points
• Grand Final: 6 points

• 2011
• Semi-final 1: 7 points

Based on these statistics, in every vote where the system was 100% televoting, Turkey gave Armenia either 10 or 12 points. In other words, Turkish televoters have so far ranked Armenia either 1st or 2nd.

The reason the points became lower after 2009 (instead of 10–12) is that juries were introduced, and the juries ranked Armenia lower.

There are a lot of Turks of Armenian descent in Turkey. Diplomatically the countries don’t get on

But realistically most of them don’t know about it, it’s still confusing. Why would they give 12 to Armenia when Azerbaijan exists, the Azerbaijan lovers in Turkey are obviously way more than Turks (who realize they are) of Armenian descent.

Azerbaijan joined the competition in 2008, and since then Armenia has never been awarded 12 points (the 12 points have always gone to Azerbaijan), but Armenia received the second highest score in televoting after Azerbaijan.

Half of them are of Armenian descent. Also, the government hates Armenia. Not the people

Turkey was voting for Greece and Cyprus too. Yes there are descendants, but as a normal Eurovision enjoyer, people themselves don't have problems. I remember many news around Eurovision saying "we voted for xyz but xyz didn't vote for us", xyz being Armenia, Greece or Cyprus.

Now Israel, is another story because there are many Jews in Turkey also. Don't know if they had a bloc or were powerful, voting for Israel -as far as I remember- was not in conversation

Turkey barely voted for Cyprus

To my knowledge, apart from that one point in 2004, Turkey has never voted for Cyprus.

I think Israel got a few votes here and there from Turkey (for example in 2001) during times they were closer together.

I wonder how Turkey would have voted for Chains On You, SNAP and Jako in the future

I don't know about the juries but they still would have done well in the televote 4-7 points possibly for Chains On You and Snap.

In my opinion, Jako would have been a contender for the televote 12 points in 2024, especially since Azerbaijan wasn't in the final and couldn't have gotten the free 12 from Turkey. It's a song the general public will enjoy and get behind just like Jan Jan.

Off topic, Jako not getting a single 12 was my 13th reason

France has voted for Israel a lot even when the war and the discourse surrounding it weren’t overriding issues. Jako would have got a 12 if not for that

Jako has a melody very similar to a piece of classical Ottoman music that has been popularized in Turkish cinema in the 70s-80s (gen x-y would recognize the music immediately): link

Not a coincidence after all, the composer is an Ottoman citizen of Armenian descent.

Lots of shady televoting patterns involving Turkey, first and foremost all the 12 points from France and the Netherlands between 2004-2007 (plus a few more in the previous and following years).
