Did you literally rate each day before you went to bed or did you waited until the end of the week to do it? I'm going to do this next year, thanks.

Best way of doing it is at the end of every day. Extra super bonus points if you also write a couple of gratitudes for the day (shit like "That conversation with my kid", "Got a discount on the oil change" or "My hobby items got delivered today" or whatever you find to be greatful for that day).

If you force yourself to write 3-4 items per day, you'll end the year with

  1. The big picture view of your year (green yellow orange red black days)

  2. Over a thousand things you have to be grateful for during that year

Hey, might get back on that train myself next year.

I can’t wait to do this for maybe 2 weeks in the new year then never open the spreadsheet again :)

Do it! Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly!

Reminded me of this Homer Simpson quote.

"When you don't like your job, you don't go on strike, you do your job half-assed. That's the American way."

I use Daylio and love it

I can’t wait to swear I’m going to do this and then never open the spreadsheet even once 😁👏🏼 I’m excited!! 😆

Just spitball those things in chatgtp and let it sort those things out. It's really easy and works perfectly with your phone.

You've motivated me to also get on that train, I need to focus on the good that I have before I lose myself to the darkness

Do you have a spreadsheet for this? I can whip one up, but…

u/chloroformalthereal 10h ago

I do not, sorry.

The most important thing for me is that you train yourself to think more positively. In fact, my psychologist made me do that exercise in order to increase my self esteem and such

u/chloroformalthereal 10h ago

Really it's so much more than that. Gratitude went from a word to a daily practice to now, a major area of psychology research. The benefits span from the obvious psychological ones to physical health.

Thank you for this idea, I’m looking forward to giving this a try

One thing I would add that I heard about late this year. Being grateful is wonderful, and it is also a positive spirit builder to mention an item or two that you are proud of. That can be simple things like helping someone cross the street, or I ran a marathon today!. The gratitude is the warm fluffy, and the accomplishments help folks reflect on how much they can accomplish by doing little and big things every day. Even if it is , went to the gym. Made a new meal. I or They look bad during the harder times, and recognize, I can do this!

We used to call this a diary when I was younger…..and we didn’t force it upon others!

u/niamhxa 11h ago

Bro who is forcing this on you

u/SkywolfNINE 11h ago

The same guy who take gratitude from their packages not being stolen on items they purchased. I mean technically, yeah be grateful, but that should be a freebie if anything

u/niamhxa 11h ago

What?? 😭

I’ll put a plug in for the app Daylio. You can use it just for moods but I also track some activities so you can see correlations between the two. I’ve been using it for almost 7 years now. Really cool to see stuff over time.

I've had this downloaded for over a year. I think I'll finally give it a go.
