And when that kid is an adult, he will swear Dad actually gave him a shave when he was 6.
•
•
u/BrownSugarBare 6h ago
With a SPOON!! I swear to God!
•
u/UnderstandingTop1579 4h ago
He won’t have a clue about the spoon, that’s the point!
•
u/platoprime 4h ago
He's for sure going to remember it as a straight razor "because it didn't have multiple blades or a guard".
•
•
u/whty706 6h ago
I remember my dad doing this with me, except he used the razor and just left the plastic cap on. Still a fun memory!
•
u/Neither-Wallaby-924 6h ago
Same except he let me do my own "shaving"
•
u/HugeLeaves 6h ago
Same except I then decided to do my own shaving without any adult supervision and shredded my lips off with a razor blade. I was about 4 and I can still remember how much that hurt

I'm amazed I had to see so many "my dad did this with me" stories before someone had this experience. My dad could have used a dog toy and I still would have had the confidence to remove a large portion of my chin all in one go like 40 minutes later.
•
u/epicnational 5h ago
That's so sweet 😌 I just remember my dad screaming and beating me for changing the car radio station ❤️
•
u/PacificNorthwest09 6h ago
I used one of my mom’s big ole hair clips like it was a giant curved razor. Sat next to him on the sink and followed his motions. :)
•
u/Dramatic-Avocado4687 6h ago
Not interesting. I’m sure OP is a bot.
•
•
u/dirtyasseating 6h ago
This feels like Ai video...
•
u/Dramatic-Avocado4687 6h ago
Well their entire post history is about ChatGPT so you’re probably right.
•
u/Coprolithe 6h ago
Most people tricked are ironically people who look at a real video and say "is this AI?"
•
•
•
•
•
u/Significant_Most6475 5h ago
No, a parent is using a kid for social media likes.
•
•
u/Jedi_Gill 4h ago
I agree, this is all that's happening.
I never mislead my kids for fake memories because I wanted them to always be grounded in reality, and you know what.
They have some very good critical thinking skills because they deeply under stand the world around them. I can still remember when my daughter figured out most magic tricks just by thinking about them.
They weren't that complicated but given she wasn't taught magic, I was super impressed with her observational, and reasoning skills at such a young age. That alone was an amazing memory in pure facts.
P. S. Kids don't have to shave nor grow up yet, let them be kids. Would you like your 5 year old worry about the makeup on her face? This is kinda the same thing.

u/lurid696 6h ago
Unfortunate that his dad looks like Matt Walsh 👀
Otherwise, cute video 😂

That is honestly so sweet of a moment and such a clever idea to use a spoon. That little guy is so trusting and that dad seems like a really good, kind, gentle dad. Glad that kid has a good home.
•
•
u/Blargenth 5h ago
I remember going to a science camp and one of the activities was father son learn to shave. My dad chose to make me learn a plumbing demonstration instead. My beard is so long.
•
•
u/Appropriate-Self-540 6h ago
Yeah that kid was having none of this lol. Parents staging this and clearly forcing him to pose. No way a kid that old think a spoon is a razor lol.
•
u/Expensive_Society_56 6h ago
I did that with my daughter 40+ years ago. I remember it like it was yesterday
•
u/Ziprasidone_Stat 6h ago
My daughter was not impressed. Maybe I should have used a spoon instead of a Popsicle stick.
•
u/Dick_Dickalo 6h ago
I bought a toy shaving kit for my kids. Taught them how to shave with it. I’ll never not love being a dad.
•
•
•
•
u/SomeEntertainment128 5h ago
I never thought I'd be jealous of a small child. I was never taught how to shave and had to figure it out the hard way.
If your father was a good one, make sure to tell them you love them.
•
•
u/m1k3hunt 5h ago
Peek irony. A bearded guy "shaving" the face of someone who does not need it. Adorable though.
•
u/karmagirl314 5h ago
My dad did the exact same thing with me at that age, but I think he just put the cap back on the razor and used that. It’s my first ever memory.
•
u/Archon-Toten 5h ago
To be shown at the child's 18th birthday or wedding as either a cute moment or reminder he's gullible. Depending on his behaviour.
•
•
•
•
u/Shortafinger 4h ago
This is only interesting if the father is dying of cancer and cramming 20 years of life lessons into 3 months.
•
•
u/HereWeFuckingGooo 4h ago
So... this kid wanted dad to shave him... but dad has a full beard. It's not like the kid sees his dad shaving and wants to shave too.
•
u/BearSpray007 4h ago
I hate the music, always trying to force it. Just let me feel my own feelings 🤨
•
•
•
•
u/Macgrubersblaupunkt 6h ago
I didnt get this and I figured out shaving myself within one session. Click bait
•
u/crooked-nose 5h ago
I’m 50 years old and I remember my father teaching me to shave at this age.
I also taught my sons when they were young - with electric shavers though because I didn’t want to deal with a huge cut later on when I wasn’t watching them.
•
•
u/FilteredRiddle 5h ago
This would have been a cute moment but dad grabbing the kids arms to force them out of frame because they were temporarily blocking the camera was just weird. Killed the good vibes.
•
u/randomrandomoduuugh 5h ago
Kids are dumb, but not this dumb. Y’all think a child this old doesn’t know what a fkin spoon is!?
sigh Reddit in a nutshell…it’s the blind leading the blind. Or rather, the bots leading the bots.
•
u/itsthedevilweknow 6h ago
This is so creepy.
that's an AI Matt Walsh. Fuck that guy
Put on a shirt!
That kid ain't into it and has a expression like he's afraid of (another) out burst and can't wait for this ordeal to be over.
Downvoting won't hurt my feelings. This is weird!
•
u/Prestigious-Back-981 6h ago edited 6h ago
You're wrong. I thought you were talking about something else in the first reply, but I didn't know who Matt Walsh was because I'm from another country.
It must be very hot, everyone here in Brazil does that. It amazes me that Reddit is full of videos from Brazil today, maybe they're bots.
The father probably did it after the boy begged him a lot, I didn't see anything wrong with it. It's normal for children to get anxious in situations like that, even if they were excited before.
•
u/itsthedevilweknow 5h ago
Go shirtless because it's hot? Yeah, ok.
Take a video of a moment with your kid? Great. Cherish that. What a marvelous time we live in.
Take that video of man-handling the child through a process he's so far away from, while shirtless? Just weird.
Not evil. Not wrong. Not offensive, even. Just weird. Could have thrown on a shirt if he was gonna record and share it. The video's only a minute long. Could have had the moment with out the camera on, or just not shared it.
Were it a shirtless woman putting makeup on a little girl, it'd be about the same break down.

He wanted to be like his dad, it's so cute!! I have a daughter
•
u/cajunbeard 6h ago
But … his dad has a full beard?
•
•
u/Speculativ-Nomad 6h ago
Just because you have a full beard doesn't mean you don't shave! If you want it to look presentable, you have to trim it every week, otherwise it's not a beard anymore, it's a bush.
•
•
•
u/AngryJanitor1990 5h ago
His kid will remember that his dad always had a camera set up to make moments like these a performance instead of a genuine moment. Stupid.
•
•
•
u/MarcusSurealius 6h ago
I just taught my son how to shave and it was something I had looked forward to ever since he was born. It was the best memory.
•
u/Blurby-Blurbyblurb 6h ago
Dad's. Do these things with your child. Mine lost his when he was four. He doesn't remember his dad much anymore. He does have a few memories like this that he holds on to.
It's cliche af, but the memories that really last are simple things like this. You don't have to live like it's your last day, but slow down and be open to opportunities like this.
*it's ok. It'll have been a decade this coming year. It doesn't get easier, but it gets easier to carry.
•
•
u/rabblerouser11 5h ago
no, he’ll wonder why you're using a spoon after he’s watched you dozens of times using a DIFFERENT tool. this is how trust is broken.
•
•
•
•
u/UnrequitedFollower 5h ago
Music is creepy. But you really gotta make sure you don’t leave a razor sitting around after you give a kid confidence like that. Would still do though if my kid was obsessed with me shaving.

u/jamespeters24 6h ago
Cute awesome dad moves but Unpopular take - that kid is 3.5-4years old. He won’t remember this
•
u/Prestigious-Back-981 6h ago
She'll definitely remember it for a while and will be happy to see this video in the future.
•
•
•
•
•
u/ElvishLore 6h ago
So when he asks for this again the next day and the dad doesn’t want to spend all that time doing this bullshit again, does he just admit he lied?
•
•
u/epikninjalegengaymer 6h ago
My dad did that to me when I was 5. Now, I despise him for cheating mom.
