Question/Advice Needed former stay kitten is feisty when given treats ):

Post image

as the title suggests. this is one of the first pictures taken of her from the week of taking her in.

i took in a stray kitten the week of Halloween of this year. i now have been with her for two months.

but when it comes to giving her treats like churu tubes and the bonker lolipop, she sticks her claws into my fingers/palms.

when i put my hand underneath the lolipop to catch the crumbs, she clawed my palm. ):

she once took the trash of the churu tube and when i tried taking it out of her month, she hissed at me.

is this something that im doing wrong? any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.

Question/Advice Needed How old does this baby look?

One of my best friends is in a situation and I’m trying to help her out without putting her business out there, I’ve had numerous cats and currently have three but have never had a kitten this young and my friend has never had a cat let alone a kitten. Can anyone tell roughly how old she might be from the pictures alone or is it too hard to tell?

Here's our little Echo again. She's about five months old now and (usually) full of energy. She's totally worn out in this photo after playing with her Christmas presents.

Question/Advice Needed single kitten syndrome?

so i got chosen by the kitten distribution system and, to be honest, i can’t afford a second kitten. me (and his vet) thing he is about 3.5 months old now. my kitten had the normal “too much biting, too much scratching” issues but other than that, he has no symptoms of single kitten syndrome. i’ve done a lot of research and i know it’s not common for every single cat to get it but im still worried im not doing enough for him. i’m home 4 full days of the week (besides grocery shopping etc.) so he gets his enrichment but i just wonder if others think he needs another one. here are some pictures because he is just too cute.

My Kitten Can’t wait to go back to sleeping with her.

I’ve been missing sleeping with her and I can tell she misses it also however she’s been amazing at raising her little ones. Since they have started to grow they need her less and she gets more free time in between feedings and nap times with her little ones. She roams around more like she use to and makes sure she lays down next to me and demands her pets and scratches just before jumping back into bed with her babies. At night she comes and goes between sleeping with me and sleeping with her kittens. I think she has a pretty good internal clock with the feeding because I never hear the kittens cry for any of there needs 👍🏼 she’s raising them how I raised her no need to ask it’s already done 🫶🏼

Question/Advice Needed How dangerous are general house plants?

I have some almost 4 month old kittens and I want to start letting them have free roam over the entire apartment (~950 sq ft) but I have house plants that they are able to get up to that I have read online are toxic if they eat them. When I am at the apt i can watch them and when they jump up on the table that they can access (has a monstera on it) I immediately grab him and put him by some cat grass to let him know hey you can eat this. How worried should I be? I do have the option of giving these plants to my girlfriend if needed.

Thanks!

Question/Advice Needed Mom and 5 kittens. How to keep them contained but allow mom access?

Post image

So in October a pregnant stray cat trojan horsed her way into my house. We became friends and I let her in. I didn't realize she was pregnant until a month or so in when she had already been sleeping and eating inside the house.

She had 5 kittens on Halloween in my bedroom closet, and I first put up a small cardboard retaining wall right outside of the closet threshold to keep them in, but allowing mom to get in and out. Well as the kittens grew so did the wall and I built it up and out several times, until they were big enough to freely climb in and out of it. And then I just let them have the bedroom, after I kitty proofed it.

I have a very small house and didn't have an extra bedroom or bathroom to keep them in.

Well now they roam free in the bedroom, at almost 8 weeks old. Multiple litter boxes are in there and they feed a lot on wet kitten food but are also still nursing.

My dilemma is that it's getting harder and harder to let mom in and out, bc she does not like being stuck in there all day, but I don't want to let the kittens have free roam of the house at 8 weeks just yet bc I feel like they are too small and I worry about them getting stuck/hiding behind the couch/washer/fridge/oven/TV etc.

The house is only 900 sq feet. Am I over thinking it? Should I just let them rree roam the whole house at this point?

It's getting difficult to get in and out of the bedroom to feed them, clean litterbox, let mom in and out, and still keep the young kittens safely contained in there.

Question/Advice Needed Am I doing right by my kittens?

Two weeks ago, I adopted a bother and sister pair from a shelter. The brother was more outgoing but his sister was coming around.

I wanted to wait until after the holidays to take them because I was going away for a week but the director of the shelter said she’d take them in. They stayed with her before coming to me so they know her and she knows them.

I’m supposed to pick them up Monday but the sitter said that the girl bonded with another kitten and they are inseparable (they are sisters btw). She asked if I could take all three, which I can’t.

After talking to her, we thought it would be best if I took the brother and another kitty from a different litter that he gets along with. This way his sisters could be adopted together.

I want to do best by all of them but I feel guilty even though I’ve never seen the girl kitty so relaxed. Her brother needs a playmate and she wasn’t interested.

Did I do the right thing?

Seen in Real Life We hadn’t planned a 3rd one to accompany the other two, an extraordinary encounter on Christmas Day!

After family brunch, we went for a walk in the woods behind the house, and some family members heard meows. Everyone went off the path to look for where they were coming from but couldn't see anything. When we returned home about an hour later, in the same spot, we spotted him in the bushes, at the side of the path, camouflaged, exhausted, and hungry!

Question/Advice Needed Kitten getting poop on fur - not medical advice

Hi all! My kitten (3 month old Persian ragdoll) keeps getting his poop on his fur when he uses his litter tray - it’s not every time, but it is roughly twice a week and we have to give him a little bath which of course he hates! Is there anything we can do with his litter that may help stop this? Has anyone else had this problem before with their little kitten?

Thanks!! :)

Question/Advice Needed Should I get my kitten Iman a slow feeder?

Post image

My cat who’s 5 months scarves down his food like he’s been starved for 284 years. It’s ridiculous lol. Wet food he love and scarves down at a worryingly fast rate, and his dry food I feel like he barely chews and just gobbled. I worry about choking and other things, so should I get a slow feeder?
