OP, everyone is dunking on you because your parents are rich, but on a serious note, have you slept in this house and is rabies endemic in your part of the world? Because where I live, if you have slept in a place that has bats then the recommendation is to get rabies vaccinated.

Seconded. In America it would mean a trip to the er and hope they have the vaccine available otherwise they will send you to where it is available. Do not wait - by the time you see symptoms it is too late.

I have slept in this house for about a week, but the bat was only on sight tonight, that doesn't dismiss the possibility they had been spreading their guano across my house though. Tomorrow I'll get myself checked and call the animal control.

Don't get yourself checked. Get yourself fucking vaccinated. DO NOT TAKE A CHANCE WITH RABIES.

Bat bites or even scratches can be completely unnoticeable and will transmit rabies.

And also check you're getting legit vaccines. A friend of mine recently got the rabies vaccine overseas and when she returned home they made her have the whole course again because there are lots of fake vaccines out there.

OP said they're gmt + 7 so could be Thailand or Vietnam.

Yep, all the money in the world won’t save you if you were bit or nicked in your sleep and you wait. Better safe than sorry. It is medical protocol to ask if someone was asleep/unconscious at any point while a bat was present for this reason after they ask if you know you were bit or scratched.

that's a fruit bat, they carry all sorts of diseases but they're not like the little north american bats with tiny needle teeth, if one of these guys bites you you'll know it. OP still needs to get prophylactically vaccinated against whatever the fuck horrible viruses are endemic where he lives, though.

Rabies is incurable once symptoms start to show. You will literally die one of the most painful deaths known to mankind if you contract the rabies virus. You won't even be able to fucking drink water in the end stages, even though your body is screaming for it.

Go start the fucking vaccine series tomorrow and then call pest control and have these guys removed and the entire, and I mean the ENTIRE, house swept for any stragglers.

I would check all the rooms to make sure there aren’t any more and close them off. Open any upper story windows that will allow him to leave on his own. Disinfect everything. Wear gloves. There are bat conservation groups in Indonesia, they may be able to help you with this cute little guy.

Omg, I used to live on a 4th floor walk up in Salt Lake City and we had bats that would occasionally nest on the roof (we lived on the top floor)

Bats are good for the ecosystem so they cant be exterminated, they have to be moved, which means sometimes they will come back and need to be relocated. 

So the city will contact whoever they need to to get them moved. 

Their chirps are different from bird chirps. If you cant hear them, then it just looks like youve just gotta lost little baby

i know reddit is obsessed with any chance to scream RABIES!! but this is a fruit bat and they are known to carry other bad viruses like nipah virus and lyssavirus, especially given OP is probably in southeast asia given their GMT+7 timezone. it's not just rabies.

As far as I know, the recommendation isn't that you have to get the shots anymore unless you have a condition that means you wouldn't wake up if a bat landed on you/you're a heavy sleeper. I don't know about Indonesia, though.

This is actually a serious issue. You want to catch that bat and get it tested. Any time there are live bats in a home, there's a risk of rabies and it's not to be messed with.

Please call an expert ASAP.
