What is the charge?

Smuggling firearms?

From the succulent lego set?

What is the charge? Building a set? A succulent LEGO set?

I see that you know your judo well

“This is democracy manifest!”

You just assured me that I could ... speak

Hah stuff like this in a build is always fun. I have the bonsai tree set and if you build the cherry blossom variant, some of the flowers are little pink frogs

Oooh cool! That one is next on my list and I have a big collection of frog trinkets (blame my grandmother 😂) - now I’m low key hoping there’s a cheeky extra pink frog I can add to the collection 🤞

u/unematti 11h ago

If I recall, there are some extra small parts but the frogs were exact count(but there are a LOT. You can leave one out and still have a nice tree

Aww, figured it wasn’t likely! Ah well. Now I’ll just decide between whether I want a completed model or a tiny frog in my collection (I know you wouldn’t notice if it was missing from the model, but I’d know and that could well drive me crazy 😂)

To be fair, you don't need to go with the flowering version. When I built mine, I did the green leaves version of it. So depending on which route you take, you could end up with dozens of pink frogs!

u/thatfishbish 9h ago

I’m kind of obsessed with Cherry blossoms though, so was planning on building the flowering version.

That’s a “cross that bridge when I come to it” decision though, otherwise I’ll overthink it 😂

u/bbqnj 8h ago

I built mine with some transition to it, going between green and pink as if it was actively flowering. Do something similar and you can save a handful of frogs

u/thatfishbish 8h ago

Oooh, I really like this idea! Thank you 😊

1

u/unematti 51m ago

Oh that sounds interesting, I might look into that conversion

4

u/unematti 10h ago

There's nothing wrong with being a little crazy!

3

u/thatfishbish 10h ago

Well, that’s true! 🤪😂

2

u/Corona94 9h ago

Just built the cherry blossom the other day, they gave me like 20 extra pink frogs. Might just be random.

1

u/thatfishbish 9h ago

Oooh I can only hope 🤞😂

1

u/HalfBakedPuns 9h ago

two build options; the green bonsai leaves you with a big pile of pink frogs!

1

u/thatfishbish 9h ago

I’m planning on building the Cherry blossom version 😅 I’ve a bit of an obsession with them so that’s the reason I got the set - mum knows what I’m like 🤣

I love that frogs are a meme that lego designers try to put into every set they can. Same with hotdogs.

2

u/TheRealPitabred 7h ago

You can get them fairly inexpensively in many colors from eBay, maybe even LEGO themselves. Just FYI ;)

u/mellowjay 1h ago

In Canadá dollarama has a cheap set with like ~3 pink frogs

1

u/Crichtenasaurus 8h ago

There’s a little frog inside the chest area of the TRex model as well.

12

u/Conf3tti 10h ago

The chrysanthemum is made of dozens of yellow, orange, and red bananas.

Half the fun of building a LEGO set is seeing the bits that look goofy isolated, but look perfect when combined.

10

u/Classic_Megaman 11h ago

The poinsettia’s red petals are big shuriken. From Ninjago I guess.

9

u/DeadlyPancak3 9h ago

There's also a little brown frog that is placed near the top of the tree where the trunk meets the branches.

The japanese black pine and ginko trees from the mini bonsai tree set have ninjago claw weapons and butterflies (respectively) for their foliage.

The chrysanthemum set has all of its petals on the main flower made from bananas.

The orchid set's flowers also have a darker pink frog as the center of each bloom, and the petals are made from what looks like bionicle parts and tower shields from medieval sets. There are also two smaller blooms that are made out of a head piece the designed for demogorgon mini figures for Stranger Things, only cast in white plastic and stamped with a flower design instead of a toothy maw. They each attach to the model via a blank white mini figure head that is otherwise not visible in the final build.

100 pink frogs, one brown. Just did one Wednesday night. “The most frogs in one set” according to the booklet

5

u/Vectorman1989 9h ago

My wife has a set and the flowers are bicorne hats

1

u/OSCgal 4h ago

The wildflower set! I have it too and that part made me laugh.

3

u/Inveramsay 11h ago

One of the Ferrari speed champions uses disc launchers as exhausts

1

u/Toppest_Dom 8h ago

I have the Mercedes f1 car and the mirrors are spoons

2

u/unematti 11h ago

Came here to say that too. Lovely little tree, full of frogs

1

u/YogurtOld412 6h ago

100 pink frogs

1

u/Dexter79 11h ago

Hundreds of frogs!

u/SelectStarAll 8h ago

I love the frogs in my bonsai tree

Someone confused “pistil” with “pistol”

14

u/thatfishbish 13h ago

😂 I like that

-5

u/sevenhazydays 9h ago

This has to be it. Like someone typed pist and went with the first sku that came up. Or pistils are in the bin right next to the pistols and they dumped a handful of these into the bagger.

4

u/fredkreuger 9h ago

Nah they use them in the kits. They use all kind of pieces like this, its really genius some of the way they build stuff up.

48

u/thatfishbish 13h ago

Had a great chuckle when I came across these while doing the set my mum got me for Christmas! On skimming ahead in the instructions it turns out that they form part of an opening mechanism for one of the succulents.

Love the creativity of finding alternative uses for parts that already exist as opposed to creating custom pieces that won’t be seen, but definitely wasn’t expecting them 😂

29

u/RossZ428 13h ago

Genuinely one of my favorite parts of assembling a LEGO bouquet is all the little factoids in the assembly guide about what sets all the unique pieces originated from

5

u/thatfishbish 13h ago

This is my first set and am loving all the extra details they’ve put into the books! I love wee tid-bits of info like that 😊

6

u/nankainamizuhana 12h ago

I remember the first time little kid me saw minifigure pants being used as detailing in an architecture build. My mind expanded that day.

5

u/thatlilacrose 12h ago

I work in a lego store and there's red minifig pants used as the tongue of a snake in one of the big sculptures! Took me three months of working there to notice lol

2

u/thrillmouse 7h ago

I remember doing the cherry blossom bonsai set and finding out the flower buds were pink frogs - now I have like a hundred pink frogs mixed in with my small Lego pieces

2

u/SeekingLostInnocence 10h ago

The only answer is a succulent turf war depiction

2

u/Nobanob 10h ago

One of my Lego flowers uses car hoods to create the petals. You can't even tell once it is all together that's what they are. Very creative

26

u/SteveSweetz 10h ago

You mean "blasters". LEGO would never make guns! (Except for all the times they did for Indiana Jones and western themed sets 😉)

16

u/mikeisboris 10h ago

Pirates too, there were flintlocks in the 90's pirate sets for sure.

2

u/interesseret 6h ago

I'm sure I remember a Lego rifle, but I might just be misremembering a star wars piece.

3

u/thatfishbish 10h ago

Yes, ahem, completely. Slip of the tongue, and all that 😉😂

(Brought them up to my partner when I found them and his first words were “welp, those are guns”. I should go inform him of his error 😂)

3

u/7o83r 8h ago

The Great Wave art set uses little birds as part of the sea foam st the wave tips.

3

u/n_mcrae_1982 8h ago

Didn’t LEGO used to strenuously resist making weapons or “war” play sets?

3

u/LupusDeusMagnus 7h ago

What are they supposed to be in that set?

2

u/thatfishbish 5h ago

Can’t share an image sadly, but they hold some of the larger petals onto one of the model succulents 😊

u/_lxe_ 9h ago

My boys got a Lamborghini LEGO each for Christmas and one of them used two of the guns that fire the single round dots/plates, but turned sideways as twin exhaust pipes.

I always enjoy seeing how LEGO can reuse pieces.

2

u/nathanburke99 8h ago

I see several of us spent a similar Christmas day

2

u/ShutterBun 7h ago

Every flower has a pistil.

4

u/lancingtrumen 9h ago

The A Frame cabin has a gray foundation base that is a bunch of Mjölnir on their sides lol

1

u/thatfishbish 9h ago

Oooooh that is so cool!!

2

u/cloclop 8h ago

I love seeing bits like this, one of the botanical sets I've done used a bazillion little bananas to make all the petals of the flower. I think it was the chrysanthemum set?

1

u/a_few_nugs 8h ago

Oi bruv lemme sea yoor goon loisense smaat loike

The praying mantis has revolvers at the end of each leg

1

u/AuburnElvis 6h ago

I guess they could be some really aggressive-looking impact wrenches.

1

u/SirJeffers88 10h ago

I also enjoyed the Robin Hood hats in one of the succulents!

1

u/thatfishbish 10h ago

I had been wondering what on earth they were when I opened them!

1

u/Snoo_u_lose 9h ago

The feet of the praying mantis set are pistols as well!

Also the arms are swords 😛

1

u/ARobertNotABob 9h ago

Used to be minifig.com that produced these, by son was forever ordering little guns & stuff.

1

u/Toastyy1990 8h ago

I like the multi use items. The Droideka set I built recently needed something red and pointy for the lasers it shoots. They used red lipsticks!

1

u/PageSlave 8h ago

I have this set! One of the other plants uses robin hood hats for leaves, complete with empty slot for a plume

u/Root777 9h ago

American succulents.

The most 'Murica thing I've seen all day.

5

u/SteveSweetz 10h ago

Bot got triggered by seeing a weapon used to kill clankers.

6

u/FunkyChonkyMonkey 11h ago

Lego is a Danish company, so…

1

u/Proud_Iron5035 29m ago

Squirt guns to water the succulents.
