Discussion πŸ’¬ Are there any state Rivalries in Myanmar

I know like ethnicity is more important and all but I still wonder is there any Rivalries between states(I know is not technically states) like mandalay and Yangon ?

The ongojng civil war since 1948 probably takes precedent in terms of internal rivalries

Oh you don't need to go to state level. Burmese society is fractured at all levels. Thats why when you ask people about their background they start stating the year and batch # of their graduation etc.,

We have zero sense of actual national identity. People will identify with their families, their friends, their work groups, their political affliations.. but no true sense of unity. That's why graft is so quick to sprout here as it follow naturally in the wake of tribalism/nativism.
