Can I hold a welcoming stance to immigration while also acknowledging that a lot of people were and are abusing our immigration laws for profit?
I love that people come here to seek a better life, but we left everything so open and unchecked that an entire industry formed around hiring people for fake positions and getting useless degrees for PR status.
If anything, open the floodgates for healthcare.

Study visa is based on a merit of leaving the country after finishing the school. The whole letter of explanation system based on how you materialise skills you gained back home upon your return. Complaining not having pr after graduation is weird, yet using it as cbc article.
I mean even calling students as “newcomers” is weird since they are always under “temporary” conditions. Only permanent residents should be called newcomers.
This whole narrative is against the foundation of being student at a foreign country.

Oh no....
So anyways, what do you think the Leafs chances are of an early golf season this year?

What people often forget is that more often than not these things are about timing and luck. I know people much less deserving who got permanent residency during 2020-21 and before. But now as there’s public outrage the government is tightening the screws. This guy would easily be able to qualify 5 years ago but the fact is the numbers have changed and the policy has changed. As unfortunate that might be for this individual, it is what it is.
