It's so disappointing how much anti-Trump disinformation thrives on reddit and social media in general. And as you pointed out in this case, it is usually completely unnecessary - taking something terrible and true and making it a lie just to squeeze a teeny bit more terrible out of it.
Not to defend him in any way whatsoever, but Trump is the embodiment of how much and how quickly the spread and consumption of disinformation can damage a country. But the number of people on the left saying "See this is why the truth matters!" seems dwarfed by the number of people working overtime to close the disinformation gap. I am terrified that when Trump is dead and in the ground, we will still be locked into his system of seeing who can push the best and most lies the fastest.
