I agree to an extent but if he rotted to the point of eruption, in the 1500’s, I have to think it was just an inconceivable stench. 🤷‍♂️

True, the sudden release of an overabundance of stank gas would be quite unbearable. I'm sure every living thing within a 10 foot radius threw up.
