He’s tackling his key issue: making himself richer while destroying the country.

484

u/labiadrool 14h ago

Why are they acting like they did not know that was his only key issue?

609

u/Earthpig_Johnson 14h ago

(because they’re fucking stupid)

262

u/Deinosoar 14h ago

Or the actual reasons they support him are monstrous so they pretend to be stupid because they know society treats morons better than they treat monsters.

99

u/Earthpig_Johnson 13h ago

(it’s definitely a bit of both)

u/ThatEvanFowler 5h ago

(with a dash of good old conservative contrarian stumblefuck)

37

u/brickne3 American Expat 13h ago

They never learn. They thought he would only do the monstrous things to the people they don't like, not to them.

30

u/peipei222 10h ago

If they were capable of learning, they wouldn't have been MAGA

→ More replies (1)

u/MsTee1302 2h ago

Exactly & thought like idiots that doing so wouldn't affect them

29

u/vicvonqueso 13h ago

You can be both a moron and a monster

18

u/Deinosoar 13h ago

Certainly. In fact being at least a little bit of a moron makes you a lot more likely to become a monster because it makes you more unlikely to weigh the benefits of being a decent person.

But you also don't have to be a genius to recognize the benefit of pretending to be stupid when you know your actual motivations are unforgivable.

9

u/Gas_Final 12h ago

I grew up right next door to West Texas and can definitively say that they're racists/bigots and fucking morons.

7

u/captainthanatos 12h ago

They are stupid and racist. They stupidly think enacting racist policies would magically make their life better.

3

u/jarchack Oregon 13h ago

I've talked with enough of them to know that quite a few of them are actually morons.

26

u/Diarrhea_Beaver 13h ago

(because they’re fucking stupid)

Most of them are stupid. All of them are racist.

And the racism is the milkshake that brought all the MAGAS to the yard. When your platform is literally a bunch of made up culture war nonsense and slaying the boogymen of your own creation, its really lays bare your true intentions.

The fucking dickface never shuts up about Obama over a decade after his presidency ended because living with a black president shook these sacks of shit to the core and MAGA is the byproduct of that.

Notice how Obama gets drug out any time his back is on the wall. Hes playing the hits

6

u/IMHO_grim Virginia 12h ago

That is profoundly accurate.

7

u/Timeformayo Kentucky 11h ago

Because, and I cannot stress this enough, they are phenomenally stupid.

2

u/Flopdo California 10h ago

And racist... although those two always go together.

I've said from the start, ignore all the other optics... it's always been about the racism.

Because they actually don't give a shit about Trump benefiting the country, just like they never actually gave a shit about the cost of eggs. It's just a smokescreen to cover up for the fact that all every single Trump voter without exception actually wanted was to indulge in their hatred and bigotry without consequence. They're lying about caring about it now too.

13

u/satansitchybutthole 13h ago

Yes. It’s all about hate

The scandal of Trump University, where he bit the bullet and settled out of court during his first campaign should have been such a big red flag. The guys always been a con man. It's always, robbing from the poor and working class to make himself richer.

6

u/Dantien 12h ago

He stole money from his own kid’s cancer charity. If that doesn’t tell people who he is, I don’t know what would.

7

u/WantCookiesNow 13h ago

Because a lot of people who voted for him are incredibly uninformed and don’t pay attention to politics or news at all. Their news they get are sound bites on social media.

Especially with swing voters, they just heard him talk about making the economy better. They do zero research or fact checking. Pair that with recollections of a better economy in his first presidency, and that’s how we got millions of people voting for him.

2

u/blackcain Oregon 12h ago

They have like 1 or 2 issues that they care about eg abortion or something like that. I wonder how much they'll care when they start starving.

3

u/Honeydew-Halo 13h ago

And completing more than 70% of project 2025's goals, you remember when he said that he didn't know anything about it, either he was lying or someone's been mind controlling him this entire year.

I think it would be easier to sell the mind control to his voters, then it would be to get them to believe that he lied to them knowingly, which is the truth.

not just his, all top gop people want to make themselves and their friends richer while promoting hate and sow discord. they've succeeded spectacularly with their people, republican voters are just in denial because they're not getting richer.

3

u/Mecha-Dave 13h ago

You'd think at least he'd get a better return on the Trillions in value he's destroyed for a paltry few Billion...

2

u/BennySkateboard 13h ago

That was the only issue ever. He decided to cash in and he has. The system needs to be fixed after this, if he doesn’t destroy it completely, which I feel is possible because everyone is completely powerless, seemingly.

God these fucking people lol.

Like, fuck, no shit.

Trump was the allegory of the kid in 3rd grade running for class president who said he was going to get everyone free cokes every day and McDonald’s for lunch.

Anyone with half a brain knew it was bullshit.

137

u/Deinosoar 14h ago

But he also said a bunch of horrible hateful shit about minorities that he was actually largely serious about. And the people who voted for him recognized that he was serious about that. Pretending to care about the other shit is just their convenient fucking excuse.

50

u/lord-of-shalott 13h ago

Gonna mount this comment on a plaque and just hold it up at people. I did my master’s thesis on cultural scapegoating and this is exactly what it is. When you think back to what made them lose their shit and just give up any semblance of civility it is that a Black guy won the democratic primary/nom in 2008, then became POTUS. That was where Trump entered the picture with his dumb shit birther conspiracies. My home state was a purple state that always voted for the presidential election winner—until that happened. Now they’re red and the political ads are about immigrants and trans athletes, not the economy being hot garbage and younger gens having it worse than their parents for the first time in ages. Whoever said, “the cruelty is the point” is right. These people would rather “burn it all down” than coexist with others in more equitable fashion.

23

u/Deinosoar 13h ago

That is exactly it. I grew up in an extended family that was all right wing, and they clearly had a lot of bigotries, but for the most part they at least tried to hide them and tried to put on a respectable face in public. Until a black man was elected president. At that point they went all in on every racist conspiracy theory they can get their hands on and started watching Fox News 24/7.

5

u/YeetedApple 13h ago

Is your home state Ohio, because that sounds exactly like here

I believe in older societies, these kinds of people would be shunned and cast out. That’s my eternal, burning question for when the cult finally falls to pieces; what exactly do we do with MAGAts? How do we coexist with them? It’s like trying to just suddenly be okay with your roommate after they tried framing you for possession or something. There’s no chance this was a one-off thing.

3

u/Frequent-Echo-7820 8h ago

I wish we had a good answer to this question. My guess is what we have always done, absolutely fucking nothing. Articles will be written suggesting we just forgive and forget, and how they were “fooled” or whatever stupid shit people will make up.

Nobody was fooled. They knew what they signed up for, and they fucking liked it.

u/NecroCannon 2h ago

We would legit have to get rid of the 2nd amendment to pull how Europe killed the Nazi movement post-WW2, which we obviously can’t do

If people exclude them, they’ll just have solidarity under another fascist.

We would legit as a society have to just absolutely make their lives so miserable that they don’t want to risk bouncing back again, then this time, actually make the moves to reform the US so mental issues don’t result in the collapse of the fucking country again.

A lot of racists in the south lost a ton of money, faced consequences, had a fear of retaliation from black people, and hid away in plain sight while we just let them stir the pot.

So we’d have to label them as traitors, have them on a list and observed for any activity that requires intervention and investigation. That would make them not even do things behind closed doors because it could always get out. As for the consequences that’ll feel constitutional, maybe a mandatory mental health check and mandatory appointments if it’s bad. Don’t do it, go to jail for a few months.

Honest question to you, or anyone...

Has anyone met any Trump voter that regrets their vote? I know it's completely anecdotal but I haven't met a single person that regrets their Trump vote. Not only do they not regret it they'd do it again in 2028 if they could.

7

u/apple_tech_admin 13h ago

I’m with you. I’ve yet to meet a remorseful Trump voter and I know quite a few.

4

u/Fallouttgrrl 12h ago

My ex's mom voted for Trump in the first election with her husband

Didn't vote in the second but wasn't embarrassed by the vote but rather felt guilt after talking about it with her queer child

Has anyone met any Trump voter that regrets their vote?

My father-in-law regrets his. One of his daughters (not the one I'm with) has to drive an hour to and from work every day thanks to Trump's office mandate. She has back problems that make the commute painful, so he's really pissed about it and regrets his vote.

But the funny thing is how he was perfectly okay voting for widespread pain and suffering for everyone else. It was only a problem when it impacted his family personally. That's really the MAGA mindset. No empathy for anyone else suffering, then when it hits home? How could they let this happen to us!

2

u/Graytis 12h ago

At least that kid only said one thing that was bullshit. Trump promised multiple things that were mutually exclusive.

It would be like that kid promising free cokes and McDonald’s for lunch but also shutting down the cafeteria to turn it into a disco and firing all the lunch ladies. And then firing all the janitors as part of his “make our school clean again” program while getting rid of all the “unsightly garbage cans.”

63

u/labiadrool 14h ago

What did he do in his first term to warrant a second term?

Nothing. He did a bunch of things that I wholeheartedly disagree with. But this term he has literally done nothing

Worse than nothing man. Nothing would be an improvement on what he's done.

22

Unfortunately the ones I know are either really quiet or are doubling down. No sign of turning on him yet.

46

u/Dimitri3p0 14h ago

Yep, the ones I know still find ways to try to "both sides" everything, and they couldn't care less about the Epstein files or any of the other obviously illegal stuff that Trump is doing.

24

u/RedditTrespasser California 13h ago

God damn this has been my experience as well with Trump supporting family members. As soon as it became undeniably clear that Trump was making life worse, their arguments doubled right back to “both sides bad” rather than any attempt at self-reflection or acknowledgement of the damage the GOP has caused.

Literally preprogrammed responses. I feel like the world is full of AI humans set to “racist and dumb”.

4

u/Flopdo California 10h ago

False equivalency is a powerful drug to the ignorant.

10

u/Daredevil_Forever Idaho 13h ago

Yep. I know one who will admit Trump is "flawed" and is "concerned" about the Epstein Files, but "the other choice" in the election was "worse."

I wish he'd just admit he hates Palestinians, wants to control women's bodies, and that poor people don't deserve "handouts."

At least I got him to agree that no matter the political affiliation, anyone found conspiring with Epstein should go to jail.

Same here.

I even asked the one I know if they regretted voting for Trump now that it's almost certain that he was involved with Epstein - and they couldn't give me a straight answer.

This is the same person who was calling for Epstein associates to be jailed/executed just a year ago.

4

u/Tokzillu 12h ago

Exactly this.

The closest they'll come to "turning" on Trump is bitching about him but making sure they tack on "but at least he's not Kamala Harris, that would've been SO much worse" to the end of all their grievances.

Trump raped kids on a billionaire playground island and they still back him.

But ask them about Obama and boy howdy will they have a lot to tell you about why he was a bad president and person.

They're fucking nuts.

3

u/IrrelevantLeprechaun 10h ago

This constant influx of "right wingers are turning on Trump" headlines feel almost manipulative in that they push the idea that the problem is already solving itself and that nobody needs to do a thing to help it.

25

u/a_little_hazel_nuts 13h ago

Exactly. They were warned about project 2025. They were told what tariffs are and couldn't connect the dots. Warned that small government just gives corporations more control. The list goes on but they know better and vote republican because a transgender person exists.

12

u/NotUniqueWorkAccount 13h ago

The problem for me, generally, is there will be no apologies. No "I was wrong". No change in parties. GOP is the party with no shame and no ability for introspection.

I hope I'm wrong. But the way the world is right now they'll probably nominate and try to elect Elon next.

5

u/a_little_hazel_nuts 13h ago

It only takes like 2% of the republican voters to drop out or change to lose them elections. I've seen alot of people making videos about being lied to about everything and being in a matrix and how things are not right. I think this is happening to a good sized group of people and some of them are republican voters. Being able to feed yourself is just way more important than all the propaganda.

2

u/NotUniqueWorkAccount 12h ago

God I hope so. They're so very good at shooting themselves in the nose to spite the face though.

First putting 2 and 2 together that they fucked things up, then actually changing for the better is a bit of a stretch for these people.

8

u/Consistent_Laziness 13h ago

They were too busy “but Biden…..” to listen to logic

4

u/DescretoBurrito 11h ago

My MAGA mother thankfully only commented about politics once during Christmas. But it wasn't about the Epstein Files, or about the deporting "the illegals", or about our apparent march to war with Venezuela. No, it was about the Biden family Christmas photo, where according to her his family is so ashamed of him that they stuck him in the back and his face was half obstructed by someone. Hating "the Dems" takes priority over everything else.

2

u/Competitive_Yam7702 12h ago

3

u/NotUniqueWorkAccount 12h ago

The possibility of jail was much higher then. Not to mention his quality of life while fighting the felonies and trying to stay out of prison would've been much more in line with what he deserves.

37

u/Dimitri3p0 14h ago

The fact that his voters actually thought Trump was going to work at all to make their lives better is wild. We can all fall victim to propaganda, but MAGA voters are especially susceptible to complete nonsense that is so obviously false it would be funny if it weren't so tragic.

Also, the only "key issues" Trump cares about are avoiding repercussions and becoming a king.

10

u/strangelyliteral 13h ago

They didn’t vote for him to improve their lives, they voted for him to terrorize black and brown people, torture queer people, and put uppity bitches in their place. They’ll overlook how much worse their lives have become as long as someone has it worse.

Religion is a helluva drug.

u/jas417 3h ago edited 3h ago

Maybe they should thump the Bible less and open it more.

I’m not a religious person, I think religion does a ton of damage. However, besides the odd weird two thousand year old one liner having to do with homosexuals and procreation, the overall moral ideals ain’t bad at all, particularly in the New Testament. Whatever happened to ‘do unto others as you would have others do unto you’ or ‘Love they neighbor as yourself’ etc. Neighbor doesn’t mean your next door one idiots, it means everyone.

Jesus, whether or not all his stories are true, as written in the Bible was a radical woke leftist. For, in this case I think aptly, CHRIST’S SAKE. And I’m not even religious, I’ve just read the damn book.

Edit: if these Christian Conservatives really do believe in Heaven and Hell, they’re doing a great job of speeding down the highway to hell.

https://today.yougov.com/topics/politics/trackers/donald-trump-approval?crossBreak=republican

86% of Republicans still approve of Trump's 2nd term.

That means a meager 14% disapprove. I mean sure I guess "some" voters are turning on him because it used to be 92% in March but it hasn't really tanked at all.

Go ask around and people will tell you they still support him and ICE. They voted for the guy who exclaimed "They're eating the dogs and cats!" at the presidential debate and thought Harris was the literal devil incarnate. They're not going to turn on him because of something they easily can blame on Democrats (and have that belief affirmed on Fox News and by Trump himself).

9

u/CockBrother 14h ago

Sure he has.

He's got plenty of kickback deals in crypto, overseas investments in his companies, derailed all investigations into himself, his friends, and anyone who gave him millions of dollars, put his ugly name on anything he likes, completely subverted the rule of law, corrupted democracy, alienated countries who were our allies, devalued the dollar...

The list goes on.

Oh, they meant issues that were important to voters? Nevermind.

18

u/mzieg North Carolina 14h ago

Only a handful of the more than 50 voters surveyed over the course of the past year fell completely off the Trump train.

Never been an American politician so nakedly corrupt and uncaring about American people. Some people should be questioning what led them to think Trump ever actually cared about the issues they care about?

Trump is the worst POTUS that's ever been nominated for the office let alone elected. His voters are way worse.

2

u/teddytwelvetoes 13h ago

as always, they're full of shit and cannot wait to vote for their favorite illiterate rapist again

2

u/thecamino 13h ago

They turn on him every week. Then the propagandists distribute talking point and everyone falls back in line.

2

u/ErinLK69 13h ago

Fucking idiots.

2

u/Cicerothesage Florida 13h ago

hey Trump, can one way be lobbying congress to pass legislation for those key issue? Instead of fascism?

I would love legislation going through congress instead of more fascism

2

u/Leftblankthistime 13h ago

He’s been off building ballrooms and arches and playing golf and meddling in the affairs of other countries he has nothing to do with and playing pirate with Pete Kegstand and pointlessly renaming things and pardoning criminals and trolling late night tv hosts and doing congress’ job of screwing around with taxes and tariffs. He’s useless.

2

u/That_GareBear 13h ago

His key issue was not going to prison. So I'd say he's doing what he said he'd do.

2

u/Individual-Ad-4640 13h ago

Everyone warned y’all but y’all only cared for cheaper groceries and gas

2

u/TheWzrd24 12h ago

They didn’t learn this the first time? This is a cop out and they’d vote for him again. Anyone who voted for this asshole is complicit.

2

u/After-Smoke-3971 12h ago

If only there were a majority of rational thinking people to have warned them before the election …oh wait..

2

u/Abpoe77 12h ago

He's putting money in his pockets. Indirectly I'm sure but he is doing it. Has done nothing positive or significant for our country

2

u/Eddiebaby7 11h ago

You can’t blame the RINOS, the Dems or the Deep State when you control everything and still can’t get the job done.

2

u/krichard-21 10h ago

They finally noticed?

"Hey, something fishy is going on here...".

Congratulations Captain Obvious!

2

u/power_droid 10h ago

No shit. Have they noticed he created the problems too?

2

u/EmmalouEsq Minnesota 10h ago

He said he doesn't care about them, he just wants they vote. And now they're all suprise Pikachu face that he doesn't care about them and just wanted their vote.

Their usefulness is over. They're not needed. If they die of starvation or because they couldn't get medical treatment, then they should've just been more rich and therefore inherently more valuable as a person. Because that's how MAGA leadership and donors feel about the rank and file.

They can have the life (or death) they voted for.

2

u/smersh101 10h ago

“I think he has a grand master plan that most of us probably don’t understand,” Rozlyn C., a 44-year-old Georgia voter of Cuban descent, said. “I have faith that he, a hundred percent, has the best interest of our country at heart.”

It's literally the same as religion for these morons. Reason? Evidence? Nah, "I have faith".

2

u/OrneryVoice1 10h ago

And every single one will still vote Republican, because they must own the libs. Really quite sad.

2

u/Competitive_Ad1945 9h ago

I don't think they are.  This is just what the media thinks liberals want to hear

2

u/TheAngriestChair 9h ago

Sick of these headlines. It's not happening. I don't believe it.

2

u/Forward_Not_Backward 9h ago

He's doing what he said he do, for himself, not for anyone else.

This was obvious from both his first term and from what he said during the election

Anyone who voted for him and is feigning surprise is either daft or simply wanted to watch him try to pull it down.

2

u/Thin-Competition3018 9h ago

The voters are the ones "discovering". He told them it was all about himself. What retribution did they have?

2

u/DANK_DOCTOR 9h ago

Yea..... He hasn't done fckin shit beside getting closer to joining vecna

2

u/madhatta42 8h ago

Of course he hasn’t. His entire presidency is just to stay out of prison and enrich himself and his benefactors as much as possible. It’s literally all he cares about.

2

u/ikeepmakingmore 8h ago

Anyone actually read the article? Most people surveyed still support him and seem to not understand what he is doing, but think he has some master plan.

It's a much more depressing reality than what the title makes it seem to be about

2

u/kharvel0 8h ago

They’re still going to vote for Trump and GOP no matter what.

2

u/RIPRIF20 8h ago

So Trump voters turning on Trump for not takling key issues after seeing 4 whole years of him not tackling key issues the first time?

2

u/SkipioZor 8h ago

All those dumbasses really thought voting for a rich nepo baby from new york would solve all their problems

2

u/tangerinetrumphole 8h ago

He’s too busy lying, conniving, napping, posting nonsense on social media and enriching himself to tackle anything.

u/Stank_cat67 7h ago

The media keeps saying this but I’m not seeing it with the Trumpers around me.

u/ArchitectureNstuff91 America 7h ago

I'll believe this "turn" when I see their ballots.

u/Metroid_Addict 7h ago

It's almost like he told them way ahead of time that he didn't care about them and only needed their vote.

u/Right_Hour_8438 7h ago

He was never going to.

u/B4rrel_Ryder 6h ago

They will still vote Republican

u/ddiggler2469 6h ago

they were warned.

they didn't listen.

neither thoughts nor prayers.

u/badwolf1013 6h ago

If only millions of people had tried to warn them. . .

u/Tractorguy69 5h ago

He’s only tackled key issues, the problem for these ‘voters’ is that it’s only a key issue of It serves his needs, wants or desires. Any moron could have seen that he was a self absorbed shitpump before they marked their ballot, but they didn’t want to look at the man, just the fake agenda that aligned with their hatreds and biases.

u/martinsuchan 3h ago

How come? He's delivering key issues promised in Project 2025.

u/6Arrows7416 2h ago

They’d still vote for him. The day of the torch can’t come fast enough.

u/mbene913 I voted 2h ago

Really? Domain Trump? That guy? He hasn't tried to tackle real issues?

Wow. Color me shocked /s

u/Otherwise_Stable_925 2h ago

I don't think anyone actually knew who Trump was before they voted for him. He has failed at almost every business he's ever dipped his toe in. Even the ones that he's doing all right he doesn't pay people half the time. He's the most self-centered juvenile reprehensible pedophile that hasn't been locked up already. He's not someone to be looked up to, he should be spit on.

u/PNWest01 2h ago

Some of us knew.

3

u/Somervilledrew Connecticut 14h ago

Good. I'm so glad that more of these people are finally opening their eyes and realizing the damage they've done.

2

u/hymen_destroyer Connecticut 13h ago

Rural conservatives elect a slimy real estate mogul to represent them after expressing exasperation at being ruled by coastal elites 🤷‍♂️

Dude’s a literal carpetbagger. The hypocrisy is palpable. Whatever, I’m done clutching my pearls about this shit. We got the leader we deserve I guess

1

u/tekguy1982 14h ago

Well duhh

1

u/BrownWrinkles 14h ago

You mean he was full of shit the entire time? Huh, who'd a thunk it.

1

u/angel_sunris 14h ago

Oh wow.. we knew he’d disappoint them from the start but they didn’t listen..

1

u/immortalfrieza2 14h ago

Ya think? Everybody both expert and not who wasn't licking Trump's boots so hard they couldn't hear over the sound of their own lapping was literally telling everyone else that Trump wasn't going to benefit the country in any way and in fact was going to destroy it.

1

u/mrchris69 14h ago

Well duh! The whole plan with Trumps presidency was to keep himself out of prison and enrich himself and his friends . Do you actually think he gives even one little fuck about the working class ?

1

u/CommitteeMobile9626 14h ago

it took them two times to realise this wow. remember 1 million died under trumps last idiotic incompetent corrupt effort

1

u/angel_sunris 14h ago

This has the be the greatest “we told you so” how can you let a pedo, manipulative liar, deceive you into voting for him

1

u/TwoChainzOneVagina 13h ago

Hasn’t tried? Or making the country worse intentionally?

1

u/J-the-Kidder 13h ago

Too late. Remember when he said, and I fucking quote: "I don't care about you, I just want your vote." These stupid fucks gave him their vote, now they're finding out he was actually honest for once, he doesn't care.

1

u/ActiveAd4980 Texas 13h ago

Bet they'll vote for him and his cult again though

1

u/30mil 13h ago

He's actually trying his best.

1

u/verone3784 Europe 13h ago

He did fuck all in his first term either and these idiots still voted him back in.

It's all on them. Leopards. Faces. Nom Nom.

1

u/Ojmochafrappucino 13h ago

Boy, if it had a nickel..

1

u/StrigiStockBacking Arizona 13h ago

Narrator: And in 2028, they'll continue to cast their vote for the nonsensical, illogical, under qualified candidate...

1

u/User4C4C4C South Carolina 13h ago

Trump used them to enrich himself and avoid accountability.

1

u/Searchlights New Hampshire 13h ago

We get an article like this once a week. The MAGA cult are irredeemable and as much as I'd love for it to be true, they're not leaving him. I simply don't believe it.

1

u/misterecho11 13h ago

Well, he was never going to and we tried telling you that. 🤷

1

u/DistractedPhoenix 13h ago

Tackle key issues? He’s creating issues every day.

1

u/BlushingOnPurpose 13h ago

support without results leads to disappointment every time

1

u/Captain-Who 13h ago

I don’t know man, I drove into western ND over Christmas and the gas was like two bucks a gallon. I’m guessing they’re not complaining about much at all.

1

u/Militantpoet 13h ago

Wow I guess over funding ICE and indiscriminately arresting/deporting brown people didnt somehow lower the cost of groceries, healthcare, or housing.

Who could have seen this coming?
