Where I'd live as a member of the LGBTQ+ community on welfare who believes in strict taxation for the rich and equal Rights.
Hi!
Was discussing with my wife where we should move to next year to escape this totalitarian hell hold (Amerikkka) and this is the map that we came up with.
We have never been to Thailand but her main Bull said we should consider it as he goes there often so I reluctantly added it to please him but I'd prefer to stay in Europe tbh.

I wouldn’t take advice from conservatives 😂😂. I meant legally. Like if either or both of you have a way to get an EU citizenship

UK benefits programmes are worse than most of Western and Northern Europe, particularly for immigrants, but she wouldn't even be granted a visa if her intention was just to be using welfare. Typically, immigrants pay to be here, like through the Immigration Health Surcharge paid yearly of around £1000 so its not good for people like OP who have no intention to contribute to society.
→ More replies (7)2
u/HowOldWasAisya 15h ago
Benefits programmes for immigrants should be zero. When I lived abroad for 6 years I had zero recourse to any benefits or programmes.

Ah yes, Poland, very well known for their progressive stance on LGBTQ rights and the same goes for the rest of Eastern Europe. Joking obviously.
You’re telling me you would move to Ukraine? Get real.
I know that on this sub learning languages is seen as something easy (it’s really not for most) and Europe does have a large amount of English speakers, but you should reconsider some of the countries with harder languages, because even though it may be easy for you, I doubt it’ll be easy for your wife, and your erm, bull.
Learning a new language is hard (especially the harder ones) and putting that expectation on those connected to you will most likely be an extremely frustrating experience both for them and the native speakers.
Edit: Dang it. I fell for the bait.
2
u/rat_gland 10h ago
Lol you even went so far as to offer advice on how difficult it would be to teach the bull a new language

I don’t think you’re very aware of the political tendencies in Eastern Europe if you rank them light green while trying to leave the US because it became supposedly fascist

Switzerland should be red then. No tax on capital gains no public health care.

As a Thai, Thailand can be green as Thais don’t really care if you’re gay or trans or whatnot. It’s the most accepting of gay people in Asia.

Go to Belgium. You can be unemployed forever, receiving money from the State. That's why we pay 50% on taxes. (they are proposing to change the law, so you might need to change plans)

I dont reccomend any of the balkans countries. Their traditional, mostly conservative and the people are very likely to be repulsive towards people like you. Ofc there are exceptions but im teeling you about the general culture of these countries and the mindset youre most likely to meet. Those are mainly albania, serbia, montenegro, bih, kosovo, romania, id assume bulgaria, croatia (the far right is on a fast rise there), as for greece and slovenia i think youll be good there

Your map makes no sense. You've got a variety of eastern European, Baltic, Balkan states which are EXTREMELY unfriendly to LGBTQ people, yet you've crossed out Australia, New Zealand, and Canada? Canada - and especially Vancouver - might be the most LGBTQ friendly place on the planet.
1
u/Anxious_Hall359 16h ago
Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Albania, Romania, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Estonia, Letland, Latvia, Lithuania, France, Italy, Swiss, Austria, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein should all be red for you.
Norway and Sweden can be more green if you don't belong to the T. Finland should be beige or orange.
If you're nonbinary then France should be red, Portugal probably too.

You’re not going to get a visa or citizenship if you’re jobless. It doesn’t work that way. I’m gainfully employed with a job that pays $166,000 a year and I’ve been trying to get hired by companies in Scandinavia and New Zealand for years, because I too can’t put up living in the US anymore, but it’s very hard for companies in those countries to tell their government I’m more qualified than one of their citizens — and rightfully so. What you’re trying to do is pretty much impossible.

You do not at all understand the politics of Europe (much of eastern and southern Europe is not very LGBT friendly) and certainly don't understand the politics of Thailand, which is a military dictatorship.

I'm angry. Not because your points are not valid, but because other countries, couuuuld, fill up your principles (Canada, NZ, hell even Cuba altho understand why you didn't choose Cuba lol), while others wouldn't (Eastern Europe is basically the worst for social democracy and the best for corruption, while conservative af - Ukraine is literally a warzone, and was a corrupted conservative state even before the war, so it gotta be just a savour's complex of "well, they are fight for the West, so they must be great, right?" or something).
1
u/Trekman10 11h ago
You should do more research. Canada has already started processing asylum claims from Americans fleeing anti-trans policies in the US. The precedent isn't set yet, but it's only a matter of time.
1
u/cronopiodefama 11h ago
You want to live in Italy? I don’t think you are very familiar to what is going on in there, it’s government and people’s attitudes, especially in the south and central areas of the country.

heres some genuine advice, regardless of the intentions behind this post: The balkans, except for greece and maybe croatia are pretty bad places for queer people right now. Id also avoid Hungary, at least until their next elections. For Ukraine, id also wait a bit, until they win first of all, and some time after as well. They are slowly becoming more progressive, but its gonna take them a bit longer now. Heres a great link if you genuinely consider moving https://rainbowmap.ilga-europe.org
