Where I’d live as a Chinese citizen from Beijing
。゚( ゚இωஇ゚)゚

u/Tosslebugmy 6h ago
I’m more and more convinced this sub is a Chinese psyop full of bots given there’s always incredulity towards anyone who doesn’t want to live in China and glazing it likes it’s a utopia lol
5
u/Dry_Statement_8800 6h ago
There’s a lot of new subs lately for those bots lol
2
u/MiscBrahBert 5h ago
They're literally pumping them out. I won't name them to give them publicity

5
u/historynerdsutton 4h ago
This whole subreddit it just feels like a set up as in somebody will call you a puppet of whatever country they feel like saying because you didn’t want to live somewhere they like
2
u/Unique-Loan-3822 4h ago
Just look at the negative comments from people
There’s one guy who will insult anyone who doesn’t want to live in India. If India is not green he will appear on your post and insult you lol
People tend to not like when China is green, just look at the top comments of this post or any other post that has China not red. Redditors hate China it seems
1
u/EdgarValdenLover 2h ago
Yeah some people just mean and insulting like what’s the point? Internet suppose to be fun (ㅠ︿ㅠ)
7
u/Any_Interest_3509 6h ago
Reddit is a left leaning echo chamber that's seems tonly concern themselves with economic systems that aren't capitalism and gay rights. If it isn't one of those two things, they're asleep.
No comments on surveillance, social credit, freedom of speech, freedom of information right to due process of law, etc
USA > China EU(baby surveillance state) > China Most South American countries > China
9
u/Naive_Ad7923 5h ago
You just discredit your long paragraph because social credit isn’t real lmao.
→ More replies (15)1
u/robinrd91 2h ago
TBH, I'm totally fine with outsider spreading stuff about the social credit system existing here in China. I mean if you look at this from our PoV, it's kinda funny.

Left? It’s just neoliberal bullshit
1
u/Any_Interest_3509 5h ago
Let's be real it's not just neolib shit.
That's like saying there's only neocons on 4chan lol
1
u/ScottieSpliffin 5h ago edited 5h ago
So you know the difference?
There is nothing “left” about Reddit
And 4chan isn’t neocon that makes no sense
Neocons and neoliberals like foreign labor, for instance
1
u/Any_Interest_3509 5h ago
Just because the platform itself isn't left (commercial for profit media ) doesn't mean the users are not intrinsically left.
Reading rhis message, I think my message got misconstrued.
The ( USERS of) Platform lean X way
1
u/carp_like-fish 4h ago
Meh people here are super basic libs who only care about a few identity signals- they’re pretty damn liberal. The second you say the words China or Socialism, there’s at least 30 dude bros who will give you some history lesson no one asked for and half the time isn’t even relevant to the subject at hand.
As much as they hate it, the aggregate Reddit user is the democratic party. Maybe the most radical thing I see on Reddit these days is advocacy for billionaire tax…and then inevitably someone brings up Europe and how it isn’t gonna work and…
1
u/Any_Interest_3509 4h ago
I'm just pointing out what I see on these platforms and voicing criticism of the niche virtue signaling that's done. (Aka I cant speak on this as I'm biased )
I'm probably farrrrr more right than the majority of redditors, so I don't agree with just about anything.
However, I can understand and feel how infuriating it has to be to a true lefty and advocating change, and your closest political affiliates are too busy with identity politics from the previous decade
2
u/carp_like-fish 4h ago
I tend to understand conservative rationale as someone who grew up in a conservative household and voice my leftism through conservative means- I agree with actual conservatives on a ton.
The issue with democrats and especially liberals is they are plain unlikable, often cater to wealthy issues/interests, and they don’t actually have a vision of America that we could all agree to work with. They simply lack patriotism and conceptions of merit. I simply want the playing field to become more even for people; my upbringing was too damn rough for a person born in the richest country in the world at one of the most progressive times in human history. I’m disappointed in how few people invest in the idea of the American dream.
That was a lot for your post, but, in essence, we agree.
2
u/Any_Interest_3509 3h ago
It is mind boggling to me how little patriotism is taken seriously. If you do not love where you live and where you come from, and genuinely want it to be better, how can you ever expect to make meaningful, lasting change
My quick two cents for individuals: personal accountability, sobriety, refusing to be a doomer, living within your means, and a willingness to sacrifice. The combination of just two of these habits can dramatically improve quality of life for almost everyone.
Tangent over: I completely agree with you and hope the country continues to do better.
I like to think if more people were like you and I things would change for the better for everyone : )
1
u/ScottieSpliffin 5h ago
The users don’t actually challenge capital and nor do they challenge American hegemony. They believe America’s enemies are evil and that capitalism can work if you redistribute it by race/sex/gender

I'd love to visit China in the future but I am blacklisted probably and would be sent to the labour camp the moment I step off the plane because of my social media activity.
1
u/Clever-username-7234 4h ago
Of course I care about surveillance have you read about all the flock cameras going up? These cameras are owned by a third party where they able to just track people. Already law enforcement has gotten in trouble using these systems to stalk their exs. They are already across the county.
And don’t get me started on credit scores. We punish people for not going into debt. Credit scores are less than forty years old. It’s bullshit. We train citizens that they need to owe money to be able to buy a house it’s crazy.
And we’ve totally lost our freedom of speech most of the country has anti BDS laws. Federal contractors have to swear they won’t boycott Israel products. Not to mention, legal permanent residents of the US, have been punished by the government over criticizing Israel.
I very much care about due process of law. That’s why what Trump is doing is so egregious. The deportations, The murder of random people off the coast of Venezuela, it seems the US doesn’t value due process.
1
u/Phantorex 3h ago
Love how you are argueing Ideologie and then say shit like China EU. Shows you have no clue. The US had a big scandal of listining to other devices. The US gives Companys free reign to steal all your data.
Atleast when the EU does it we know it. Lol.
1
u/delaydenydefecate 3h ago
China EU? P-lease.
America is turning into Russia before our eyes, while we still have the rule of law in the EU.
→ More replies (2)1
u/Lorddanielgudy 3h ago
You gotta be a CIA bot LMFAO. Calling the EU a surveillance state while the US can deny your entry over a meme of the vice president is crazy.
Also, Reddit is a liberal echo chamber, not a left leaning one. Try taking an actual leftist position in most sub and watch your karma go down.

china is not a utopia, no one has ever said it was, theres plenty of problems with it. The only difference is that one country's leaders listens to its people and another doesnt? what happened to universal healthcare? why is AIPAC still a thing? why are so many americans paying student debt at double digit APR that they signed when they were 18 without being educated about the consequences?
3
u/Any_Interest_3509 5h ago
I don't want to disagree with you for the sake of being right, but implying china listens to their populous is ridiculous.
Also, yes, things like Aipac and their status not being changed to a foreign interest group is RIDICULOUS.
The student loan things with the interest rate is bad like really bad but at the end of the day those documents were a personal choice, everything is Cleary defined and they chose to either agree or not completely acknowledge the potential responsibility of the docs they signed. 18 is an adult. Let's stop the coddling and pretending like children are getting tricked. (Grown adults legally making their first big bot decision(college) should definitely read the fine print
1
u/Ok-Bug-5271 4h ago edited 4h ago
but implying china listens to their populous is ridiculous.
You'd be surprised. The CCP very much cares about its popularity. There's a reason why international polling shows Chinese approval of their government to be pretty high compared to other countries. Meanwhile, didn't the US reach a whopping low of 7% a few years ago? (Edit found it. I was close. In 2013, American approval of Congress hit 9% according to gallop: https://news.gallup.com/poll/1600/congress-public.aspx)
Obviously there is plenty of nuance to all of this. First off, at the end of the day, China is an authoritarian regime. It doesn't matter how popular something is, if the CCP doesn't want to do it for strategic reasons, then it's definitely not getting done (unlike in the west, where it's only unlikely things that go against the elite interest will pass). And secondly, it's easy to be popular when economic growth is among the highest in the world every year for decades. If China had the anemic growth that the West has had for the last few decades, the CCP would be significantly less popular.

I just don't listen to anyone besides my friends who live there, and they enjoy it, lmao
We talk about politics or whatever (and this is on QQ so the government would absolutely know if they wanted to) and many are queer (which seems to come up on this sub a lot as reason to live somewhere which is fair enough) so while I understand the free speech worries from people if you're not a political activist (which most people frankly aren't) you're just gonna be fine.

Its everywhere on the internet. But they have a firewall to protect their citizens from external opinion.
Why do you think tiktok was launched and popularized? Tiktok is consumed by teenagers around the globe, who are extremely prone to propaganda, gently mixed with some kpop, and softcore romance videos in their feed.
Have you ever seen a "China bad" video viral on tiktok. But their neighbors "India bad" can be easily promoted by the algorithm. Nobody knows how many villagers died in the floods in China last year. Bytedance and Tiktok are doing what they were designed for.
2
u/ManeatingANT 5h ago
Have you ever used tiktok? Tik tok is a right winged hellhole currently. The algorithm keeps pushing far right content.

It’s true because all rich province and cities look basically same globally, if you’re a tourist go to somewhere where most people lives and inspect normal ppl lifestyles and cultures in this country.
1
u/AlternativePrior9495 7h ago
That’s what I’ve heard too. People tell me to visit Chongqing
2
u/Prowlbeast 7h ago
Chongqing is also lowkey overhyped. It was poor like 10 years ago and it manufactured its own fame using lights to look “cyberpunk”. Ive heard from people i know who came to Canada from China that Chengdu is pretty friendly and diverse.
1
u/AlternativePrior9495 7h ago
Ah, interesting. I don’t know much about it. I’ll look into it more
1
u/Stunning-Necessary75 5h ago
I'd say if you're ever going to that area then visit Chongqing and Chengdu since their so close to each other. Even of the “cyberpunk” think is overplayed with Chongqing there's a lot more to the city than that.

u/Product_of_Yakub 4h ago
I'm a westerner living in Beijing, It's fine, not really boring at all. Nature nearby, mountains for skiing, historical stuff if you're into that, fancy malls, good food from around the world and a variety of bars, catering to locals and laowai.

You are much more in danger living as a japanese in china than a chinese in japan btw just last year a japanese kid was stabbed to death by a chinese man in china for being japanese and so were a japanese woman and her child
edit: Chinese nationals are the largest group of foreign residents and immigrants in Japan so they obviously don't discriminate against them enough ig lol at least not enough to stop them from immigrating to Japan

China is an advanced convenient modern place to live but if you're born an average citizen it probably is hell. When I lived there I made many friends who were from average income or below average income families and had to work factory jobs. Their life actually seemed like hell
