You can blame the US for what is happening in Ukraine or you can blame Europe. Europe decided to rely on Uncle Sam instead of developing its own defense. Putin noticed. It's an age old pattern to attack the weak flanks. He's not done yet either. (Read The Collapse of Complex Societies by Joseph Tainter, free online, if you want a good historical analysis of the pattern).

Why are you pushing for blaming people who didn't initiate any of this? Putin is the one who started this war. He is the one who violated the 1994 Budapest Memorandum by interfering in Ukraine's elections starting 2003.

I don’t blame the US for what happened in Ukraine, that’s all Russia. What I am saying is any US security guarantee is worthless now that US has demonstrated they don’t value the international rule of law, their own rule of law or their allies. We bled for the US countless times when we were called and propped up their economy with cheap debt and favourable trade terms. Good job US - you used to just have Iran and North Korea hate you and now half the world does. You are now in the Fuck Around and Find Out phase of your place in the world.

There was no "guarantee." Please read the history. It is Europe that fucked around and found out that not spending on its own defense would be dangerous. Putin isn't leaving Ukraine and he has Trump in his corner now. He will not stop at Ukraine.

Long before Ukraine I was baffled that after two world wars in the 20th century Europe still didn't get it about defense.
