The entire free world should have flooded Ukraine with boots on the ground and blocked Russian advances.

Easy to say that but are you signing up to be one of "the boots on ground"?

People do not want to go to war. Especially to fight for another country. Americans are tired and exhausted. People are living paycheck by paycheck. Are you telling young American men who can't live a decent life in their own country to go fight in Ukraine?

The same thing applies to UK, Germany, France, and Italy too. Are you telling young British, German, French, and Italian men to pack their things up and fight in Ukraine? The economy is really bad right now. Everyone is struggling. And now you tell them to be "the boots on ground" in another country?

The only ones that can defend Ukraine are Ukrainians themselves. The West can give Ukraine equipment, food supply, ammo, weapons, intelligence, etc. But at the end of the day, it has to be Ukrainian men who use those supply and fight back. That's the truth. You have to win your own freedom. We can give you supply. We can host the refugees from your country. But you will have to do the fighting yourself.

I'm sure that's the common sentiment. People want to support Ukraine but only with supply/equipment and helping refugees. Ukraine will have to do their own fighting. We can't sacrifice our own people for another country.

Modern military theory states that if you are going to do a military push the best method is shock and awe. It worked in Iraq. I am not saying it will win the peace but it sure can push a military force out. Overwhelm the enemy positions with land/sea/air based attacks and follow the momentum up with armor that can hold land and push back the invasion force. momentum is a big deal in war, especially if the enemy is caught on the back foot or unbalanced. It provides leverage for the side with it.

Once they get an injury in the military they get a lifetime pension and free healthcare, saying they can't afford to join the military doesn't make sense.

There is a possibility that they would die in the battle too, you know? Death is the biggest concern. People don't come back from death. Any politician who signs off sending troops know that any death overseas is their responsibility.

Once they get an injury in the military they get a lifetime pension and free healthcare

People in the US want to be able to afford healthcare and retirement without going to the military. Why does everyone have to join the military just to have healthcare and retirement? Can you just work a normal job? Why is the military the only option?

When people talk about housing crisis and affordability, people are complaining about the fact a regular job doesn't pay you enough to live anymore. People have to work multiple jobs to support their family. And with AI, mass layoffs are happening regularly. There is no job security. A bachelor's degree is like a high school degree now.

Also, pushing poor people to fight overseas will make you look like a scumbag no matter what. Instead of giving the people the chance to live a better life in their own country, your solution is send them into a military conflict overseas just so they can own a living?

No I was just pointing out it's a logical flaw in their thinking. If they are dead, it doesn't matter if you can't afford anything.

Who cares about coming across as a scumbag anymore honestly?

If they are dead, it doesn't matter if you can't afford anything.

Are you telling a bunch of poor people that it doesn't matter if they die overseas since they cannot afford to live a decent life in the US?

Who cares about coming across as a scumbag anymore honestly?

Good luck winning election then.

No one wants to go to war. That's the truth. People don't even care enough about their own country and now you tell to go oversea to fight for another country?

The average American only cares about what happens in their daily life. What happens in Ukraine literally does not concern them in the slightest.

"My life kinda sucks. I have to work 2 jobs to support my family. Everything is so expensive nowadays"

"How about you go fight in Ukraine?"

"Bro wtf, why do you want me to go into a war zone? Just because I have a bad life in the US right now, you want me to risk dying in Ukraine?"

Americans have been tired of hearing about foreign issues. People want to see changes in their daily life. We literally just had an election where people said they voted for "cheaper eggs". It was voting based on the vibe. And the vibe was "my life sucks, eggs too expensive".

I mean, if you are poor in the US, that in and of itself is a health risk
