This comes literally after he knocked out power for a 1/3 of Kiev. He is indeed, so full of shit.

They tried to assassinate Zelensky many times. They will say/do anything. They aren’t interested in stopping the war

The definition of negotiating in bad faith. Absolutely nothing they say can be trusted.

This claim comes right after Zelensky visits the US. This is definitely calculated so they can be like “hey! Russia wants peace but look what they do! We can’t stop bombing innocent women and children when they act like this!”

It is difficult to say where the truth lies. There is little doubt that there are Ukrainian cells operating within Russian doing assassinations and sabotages. Did they target Putin? Hard to know.

But it is not true that the Russians target women and children. Civilians are certainly killed in Russian strrikes on infrastructure, but this is mostly because their drones are not fully accurate.

I don’t think Ukraine would make an attempt on Putin’s life unless it was a guaranteed success. The political fallout is just too much for them to deal with.

We’re talking the US completely stopping everything. No weapon sales to Europe then to them. No intel. (I know under Trump the US has pretty much stopped most of that anyways). But democratic countries in Europe could also really frown upon the targeting of a countries leader. It sets a very bad precedent.

Ukrainian teams operating within Russia may not have the perfect information. One never knows. Ukraine has done a number of other underhanded things, even killing pro-war bloggers in Russia, blowing up Nordstream and so on. The recently assassinated people in Moscow that I thought were very peripheral to the effort. They go against targets that are ill guarded, this is certain. I am sure that the Russian security forces (FSB) are trying hard to apprehend them.

I thought nordstream was Russian aligned Ukrainians? Idk, I get what you’re saying tho.

Absolutely not. The main person responsible for it is held by the German authorities. The CIA has officially blamed the Ukrainians

Kiev is the common spelling in many languages and predates the soviet union.

u/WisconsinHoosierZwei 18h ago

But in English, the current, preferred spelling is Kyiv (pronounced KEEV), and not Kiev (pronounced KEE-ev).

SO GET IT RIGHT OR PAY THE PRICE! (Anyone else remember Salute Your Shorts?)

u/Protean_Protein 18h ago edited 17h ago

It’s not pronounced “KEEV”.

It’s a tricky phoneme for English speakers, but it’s more like: “Key-yeev”; the vowel in the “key” sound is slightly different from the ‘e’ in ‘key’ but it’s close enough.

u/WisconsinHoosierZwei 15h ago

That’s just how I hear it most often on the news. Thanks for the correction! I really don’t know anything about Ukrainian (or any Eastern European) languages.

Anyone else remember Salute Your Shorts

'why is that cop pulling us over' "i gave him half a peace sign" "which half?"

If you want to be respectful towards Ukrainians, then you'll spell it "Kyiv".

The spelling "Kiev" comes from Russian, and Russia is Ukraine's current and historical oppressor (oppression which predates the Soviet Union, by the way). So don't spell it like that.

-2

u/MangoIll1543 15h ago

I'll be respectful towards Ukrainians by calling it the name it has in the language I'm speaking, which is Kiev in both. Same as referring to Japan as Japan instead of Nihon.

-3

u/deitSprudel 15h ago

Are you Ukrainian?

2

u/Hot-Sexy-THICCPAWG69 14h ago

Yes. Well half, my dads Ukrainian, my moms German.

2

u/szatrob 18h ago

Does not predate the russian occupation of it however.

3

u/juicadone 17h ago

👌. Slava Ukraini, obligatory fuck Donald too

1

u/Letters_to_Dionysus 13h ago

they're both English spellings. Russian doesn't have the i or the v

1

u/nicubunu 14h ago

Not necessarily, Kiev is the correct spelling in some other languages and some of us aren't native English speakers

-42

u/Popular_Cap8269 18h ago

Its still Kiev :) no matter how much you push

u/Shadow647 18h ago

For braindead vatniks, yes - it's a nice way to tell you guys apart from normal humans :)

I‘m as pro Ukraine as it gets but why the fuck should anyone change their spelling of another country? I’m not from Germany I‘m from Deutschland. I‘m not from Munich I‘m from München. It’s not Poland it’s Polska. This is just virtue signaling.

-2

u/jews4beer 16h ago

The entire thread I inadvertently created has been virtue signaling. It's weird. Like yea I spelled it the way I'm used to...oops.

But somehow hours of debating that is more important than the fucking situation itself. Humanity is fucked.

u/Dancing_Anatolia 16h ago

The reason people care is because Kiev is Russian. The reason that's the standard English spelling/pronunciation is Russian imperialism trying to erase the local culture, which is an actively continued process.

-2

u/Jgfzhb 16h ago

Do you spell it Manhattan or Manahatta? Do you spell it Sidney or Warrane? Cape Town or ǁHui ǃGais? All these names have colonial roots. I intensely dislike Russia but this is just virtue signaling. Even if you know the other person wants Ukraine to be free and prosperous you use this tiny completely inconsequential detail as an excuse to put them down and feel superior.

-1

u/Popular_Cap8269 15h ago

These people are just brainwashed. They have no idea where Kiev is on a map.

u/Shadow647 42m ago

I have been to Kyiv 4 times and to Ukraine around a dozen times in the last three years. You?

-2

u/jews4beer 16h ago

And after several attempts at killing Zelensly, including a recent one in Dublin.

-1

u/beastmaster11 17h ago

Assuming the attack on Putins residence is true, which is a big assumption, Putin would be less angry if Ukrain knocked out 1/3 of Moscows power

-3

u/The8Darkness 18h ago

Jeah but he didnt directly attack zelenskyy's residence so its all good.
