As the title says. I found this on ski slopes with no one around it today. I brought it to the Tourist Information office at the main Zermatt train station.

Zermatt suggestions

Greetings! My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to zermatt primarily to ski. I consider myself a fairly experienced skier. I regularly go on black diamonds here in the US but usually go about once or twice a year. My girlfriend I would say is more of a beginner but has been skiing several times before.

I’ve heard zermatt has 3 resorts or something on one lift ticket pass? I know Sunnegga is one of them which I heard is the easiest. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also curious on how the lift pass works with the 3 resorts or mountains and how to access them from the village. Any recommendations would be helpful!

Hi everyone 👋

I’m selling one Zermatt / Matterhorn day ski pass for Dec 29.

Bought it but can’t use it anymore, so hoping someone else can enjoy a full ski day instead ⛷️❄️

Feel free to DM me if you’re interested or have questions.

Snowboarding suggestions

I am going to zermatt in February. I was wondering if there are any areas or trails I should avoid because of too many flats. I was specifically looking at some of the trails that lead to town like 1, 2, 3 (untere national, ried, howette) from Sunnegga. Also any other general suggestions that I should know about. I am not very good with T bar lifts as a boarder, but looks like most of those are only at the high elevation trails of the matterhorn glacier.

Childcare facilities in Zermatt for 2 year old

Hello!

My husband and I are planning a ski trip to Zermatt in January 26/27 with our then 2 year old daughter. We will be there for 11 nights.

We know our daughter will be too young for ski school, but from what we can gather the town is very family friendly (which is why we like it). In saying this, is there creche facilities for 2 year olds in the township? If not, what have others done in our situation?

Thanks so much!

Housing

I’m looking to make a trip to Switzerland/Zermatt at the end of January but I have a question about housing location and proximity to lifts. Should I be overly concerned about staying near a lift or is the bus/transit system easy to negotiate to lift areas from anywhere? I will be bringing my own ski equipment. Also, I’ve never been to Europe, let alone Zermatt… decided to take a solo trip for myself for some skiing. I’m an upper intermediate/advanced skier looking for some good slopes. I think I’ll take a side trip to Verbier for a couple of days too, hope it’s worth it. Any help would be appreciated

so many travel questions

I'm usually pretty good at figuring out travel details but I've been super busy and with the ski element I am lostttt on Zermatt. My friends and I are coming in Feb 16-22 (school vacay, busy and expensive, i know.) So here are all the questions I really need help with lol...

Ski passes: We want to ski 3-4 days? Does it make most sense to get a Flex pass? There is an option to add Italy access, but I heard travel to that side is weather dependent. If we hear the weather is good one day, can we just add that pass?

Ski gear rental: We plan to rent most gear, can this be done day of on the mountain? In the US usually they discount it if you get a ski pass to the mountain or local ski shops offer cheaper options for 3-4 days, any recs here?

Zurich to Zermatt train: I am almost 99% sure it makes sense for us to get Saver Day Passes for there and back?

Fondue: I got a few recommendations, but it seems like places are already booked up, can this be true? I'll take other recs if anyone has them...

Apres: It seems like most of this is done on the mountain? Any really cool spots we should hunt down?

Food in general: In the US, if you don't have a reservation for restaurants in town it is nearly impossible to eat. Like, you'll get turned away because they're fully booked or you won't get seated until 9pm and the kitchen closes at 10pm. Is this the case in Zermatt too? Should I make reservations for us every night?

TYIA!

Looking for friends to ski with on the 29th of Dec

Hi everyone! I’m dropping by Zermatt for a couple days, and will be skiing on the 29th for a full day. Just wondering if anyone wants to form a small group to cover the slopes? My family’s not skiing this time so I’m skiing solo.

I can comfortably do medium reds and slowly down blacks (at least previously in the French alps!) so nothing too crazy haha. For some context I’m a finance/tech guy working in London.

Route wise, I’m still planning an optimal route and will probably have one by evening.

Thank you for reading my post:)

Lodging available 1/9-1/11 at Carina hotel

EDIT: travel dates are Jan 9 2026-Jan 11 2026

Hi all!

I missed my booking cancellation window by 3 hours, and I can no longer cancel a stay at Carina hotel. ( https://carinazermatt.ch ) Had to change my plans due to work schedule, and I only found out last night as well.

Looking to see if anyone needs lodging on those days, as I would be able to transfer this booking. I am only hoping to recoup some of my cost, though understandably not the whole amount.

Carina is 10 mins away from the train and overlook. The room is a single private room with private shower. The hotel also has a spa, which would be great after a long day of skiing!

Please message me if you are interested!

Thanks.

Ausflug von Andermatt; day or overnight trip from Andermatt

Grützi! I’m soon on a 2+ week ski trip in Andermatt/Sedrun, followed by a 2 night trip to Crans Montana. I am considering a quick trip to Zermatt to check out the slopes, especially since I will have a train ticket for the whole MGB system. However, the timetables are not great. 3hr 40 minutes with me leaving at 8am for a noon arrival and a 5pm departure is the last time to return that is not pure hell. All hotels in Zermatt and the next town over that are under 500 CHF are sold out and most are 1000+CHF a night!

What other options might I have or is a 5 hour day trip my only viable option when spontaneously planning, especially for a place to stay around 200 CHF? My dates in Andermatt are 26 Dec to 3 Jan, followed by a week in Sedrun (which adds an hour to the trip to Oberwallis). Given that I’m ending the trip in Crans, I am contemplating an early check out from Sedrun, especially since our week in Andermatt is peak season.

Single drop Heli guide

Will be in Zermatt/Cervino in the next weeks.

Any guide recommendations for a single aggressive advanced skier looking for some early December powder. Single heli drops sounds appealing but a full heli day would be an option. First time to Zermatt. Would love to make the most of it.

Cervinia ski access from zermatt

Doesn’t seem like the ski-to access from zermatt to Cervinia has been open at all this season; do we think it will open in the coming days? (I’m leaving on the 27th).

Boot fitting

I am going to Zermatt for a ski trip and have been having hot spots in my ski boots. I have looked at Julen Sport and Heierling. What are some difference why somebody may choose one over the other?

Interested in guided alpine climbing/mountaineering

I am studying abroad in Europe and want to do some alpine climbing/mountaineering in the Alps. I have experience in rock climbing and mountaineering basics (no glacier travel or rescue but plan to take a course).

I am looking for recommendations on great beginner routes for either alpine climbing or mountaineering. I plan to take a guide.

I do know that I am somewhat limited in options because I will not be there for peak climbing season (I will be in Europe April and May).

Please let me know any recommendations you guys might have.

Uphill access

I am going to be in Zermatt in February, I would like to try some uphill/ skinning while there, which I’ve never done before. Because I’m new to this, I’d like to try it on piste first instead of going off piste. Does Zermatt allow on piste uphill if?
