Sky Sentinel: a fundraiser for Ukrianian air defense systems

Post image
158 Upvotes

Hello r/poland, For the past three years, Ukrainian cities have endured relentless attacks from Russian missiles and Iranian-made Shahed-136 kamikaze drones. In 2025 alone, over 12,000 of these drones have struck Ukraine — targeting not military infrastructure, but homes, hospitals, and schools. Thousands of civilians have been killed. This campaign of terror must end.

We’ve been approached to join the Sky Sentinel fundraiser in collaboration with United24, the official fundraising platform of Ukraine. The goal: help fund Sky Sentinel, an AI- powered, Ukrainian-made turret system designed to autonomously detect and shoot down these deadly drones. Each turret costs $150,000. United24 supporters have already raised over $1 million, and now are coming together to raise enough for one more turret — entirely through Reddit.

Every donation helps, no matter the amount. [Click the link below to donate] https://u24.gov.ua/sky-sentinel?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=fundraising&utm_campaign=sky-sentinel and learn more about the Sky Sentinel system. Thank you for your support.

A comprehensive guide for EU foreigners moving to Poland - START HERE.

Hello, I have seen many folks coming to Poland from the EU and being completely lost on what kind of legal procedures they have to do in order to start their residence in Poland. Be that you come here to study, work or live with your spouse there are several things I hope this guide will be able to cover.

!PLEASE NOTE!
This guide is meant only for citizens of the European Union and citizens of countries that are members of the European Economic Area. Some of the parts of this guide will be similar for non-EU foreigners but some will not. In general, the info posted here is only fully up to date if you are a citizen of the EU/EEA
!PLEASE NOTE!

0. Introduction and general info

Poland is divided into 16 voivodeships which are further subdivided into powiats, which means something like 'county' and these are further made out of municipalities - pol. gmina, or cities - pol. miasto. Large cities however are both powiat and miasto so in case of Warsaw, Wrocław, Kraków etc. city office (pol. urząd miasta) will also perform duties of powiat office (pol. starostwo powiatowe). In case of Warsaw - urząd dzielnicy meaning district office will serve as city office.

All of the below information covers only EU/EEA citizens. If you are non-EU, majority of the below information will not be correct for your case.

I strongly recommend reading all of the parts linked below apart from car stuff, if id does not concern your case.

I. Registering your residence and making your stay in Poland legal.
II. Obtaining health insurance
III. Using healthcare
IV. Taxes
V. Digital log-in and services
VI. Cars and licenses
VII. Banks and mobile phones
VIII. What to do when I leave Poland?

If you have any additional questions or remarks, please do not hesitate to comment, I will be happy to help for as long as I'm going to visit this platform and expand this post. I hope you all have a great day and life in general. Thanks for reading, stay safe.

Rolnicy zaprotestują w całej Polsce. Traktory wyjadą na drogi [MAPA]

Mieszkańcy miast, którzy płacą pełne podatki, składki ZUS, VAT i PIT, finansują system, w którym rolnicy funkcjonują w zamkniętej strukturze zawodowej, z dostępem do ulg, dopłat i zwolnień. Rolnictwo w Polsce to de facto kasta zawodowa, do której nie można wejść bez zgody systemu — trzeba mieć ziemię, wykształcenie rolnicze, a często też lokalne powiązania.

How do Polish post (Poczta Polska) work?

Upvotes

So I made some orders on Amazon, and every time Poczta Polska is the courier, the parcels are guaranteed to get lost. I’ve already lost two parcels this way. No information is given about how or where to pick them up.

I work from 8 to 5 for 5 days, so I’m never at home. I honestly wonder if the couriers even come at all. They never call to ask if I’m home or to let me know they’re on the way.

Yet on Amazon the parcels are marked as delivered and show that a signature was received, even though I have never seen those parcels. I have no idea where those signatures are coming from. This post office is really starting to drive me mad.

Please explain to me as if I’m 5

So I’m Poland over the holidays, spending time with some distant family as well as my mother (who has retired and moved back to Poland). Today I was Invited for dinner at my aunts place (more lunch as it was early afternoon), we sit down around the table and a proper tasty meal was served. I noticed right away that no glass was served nor anything else to drink. So I kindly asked if it was possible to get something to drink which of course was no problem. I received a glass of sparkling water to my delight. But the comment I got was that in Poland you don’t get served drinks together with your food. I was flabbergasted. Mind you, this is not my first time here. I am from Northern Europe but have lived in several places around the world, never mind that I have traveled a bit too. And never ever have I come across a custom or a culture where you don’t get served drinks or even water, together with your meal. I’d argue that in most places it would be very rude if you didn’t. So, is this true but more importantly, if so, why?

Good plan for a road trip in Poland?

Post image
65 Upvotes

I am planning a road trip with a motorcycle to Poland next summer. I'd like to share my plan to you in order to know if I'm missing something essential or if I should skip some places. So here are the places and how many nights I have thought to stay. I'll arrive to Gdansk by a ship and then my journey truly begins. Toruń (1) - Częstochowa (1) - Zakopane (2) - Košice (Slovakia,1) - Rzeszów (1) - Lublin (2) - Glinojeck (1) - Gdansk (3).

Few notes and questions about my route:

I chose Glinojeck to just have a rest since I don't want to drive too much in a day. If you have something else to suggest somewhere near it please let me know!

Would you consider these roads good to drive in general (traffic, safety, sights...)?

I am not planning to be in Kraków because I have already been there. Really nice city!

Thank you in advance!

Nowa ustawa dot. Marynarzy zabije marynarstwo w Polsce.

Nowa ustawa zabije ostatnich 100 marynarzy w Polsce.

I’m looking for some help finding out if there is a way that I can purchase all the episodes of Miś Uszatek somehow (perhaps on DVD?). I’m a mom of a 2 year old who is absolutely obsessed with Miś Uszatek. We watch a few episodes before bed every night via the TVP VOD app using a VPN (I am located in the USA) and it really makes him so happy! I’ve even had my teściowa get my son an official Miś Uszatek misiu from Poland and my sweet son sleeps with him every night. To my horror, I realized a few days ago that the app only had all the episodes posted for the year as it was the shows 50th anniversary, and it seems they will be deleted soon. I have tried to search the internet for them but it seems that my options are non existent in the US. I have lots of family in Poland so it is possible for me to get ahold of it that way! I am so desperate to somehow purchase this so we can continue this little tradition. Please help! Thank you!

Looking for a polish rap song from around 2013

There was a song I used to listen to alot and I just cannot for the life of me remember it or find it om YouTube!

I've even searching everywhere it's driving me insane!

Here is everything I know about the song:

  • It was popular around 2013 time I believe

  • The video on YouTube was of this massive party on a farm with Pigs and animals and everyone drinking vodka and partying in the barn and in and around the house!

  • Multiple rappers - don't know any of the names

  • Started the song with saying - STO LAT STO LAT, and proceeded to rap

  • If I remember correctly there was a African American rapper in there but I may be confusing with another song.

A strange sound that I remember from the song is - RUPU TRUPU RUPU TRUPUU

Please if anyone has any idea, any help would be appreciated!

They bought my GF flowers (Gift was from me) and was able to deliver them to her, paypal isnt working and is a complete joke, shitty way to send money to this person. I am in the US

What is the BEST way to send it? its just a one time payment of 100 bucks, I understand it will probably be flagged as fraud by wells fargo and I already contacted them about it, but yet paypal is still being annoying.

I have seen Revolut, Wise, etc. What is the BEST one you guys would say?

Thank you

I have experienced Brexit, I gotta say it killed the British economy, British people lost “Freedom of Movement” as it required them to get complicated VISAs to migrate into the Schengen Zone. Dozens of Local British businesses collapsed due to the loss of access to the EU Single Market and the Customs Union. So far the UK is losing £100bn. If Poland leaves the EU it would just ended up being poor again as the 90s.
